lithuania s greyscale returns this december with ohrwert’s “fidelis / blavus”, backed with remixes from xdb and grad_u.
greyscale was launched in 2012 by lithuanian producer and dj grad_u, and photographer rima prusakova, set up as a platform for material from grad_u and close friends whilst prusakova’s black and white analogue photography provides the visual identity of the label.
the original mix of “blavus” opens the ep, perfectly setting the tone with murky, ethereal atmospherics, billowing dub echoes, modulating percussion and thunderous drums before dubtechno stalwart xdb strips things back a little with soft touches of the originals airy drones tucked away in the depths whilst choppy stabs and dynamically unfolding analogue rhythms wander throughout.
the second original from ohrwert opens the flip-side, upping the energy levels slightly with hooky stab-sequences, filtered delays and hypnotic melodies running alongside a sturdy percussive foundation. lastly to round out the release grad_u reworks “blavus” into a more groove-driven workout, employing shuffled hats, looped dub chords and bumpy sub-bass hits throughout.

after the well received all creation 12s delsin records drops yotokos >wet ink<. yotoko are shifty & domu (jcr, 2000black, archive). yotoko stands for a perfect fusion between broken beat, techno and soul.
their album is not about breaking barriers, but it is their own little twisted version of what they call techno. for yotoko techno can be heard in everything, so as such it is all techno. domu and shifty are influenced by lots of different stuff, soul, jazz, disco, hip hop, techno, some old break beat, new broken stuff.. as well 20 pence mad charity shop finds.. the album is about yotoko making music they think is cool and realizing that all this music is the same no matter what the bpm or groove.
domu started as sonar circle for 4 heros reinforced label. later on active as domu for labels as archive and 2000 black and together with archive label boss volcov for the jcr-label with their album as rima. shifty is domus longtime comrade, making his first musical public appearance as yotoko. the albums artwork will be done by amsterdams machine, who already took care of the kindred spirits releases.

after the release of his co-produced rima-album on jazzanovas jcr-label, domu amazes again with this co-production. as follow-up to the debut ep and as teaser for the upcoming yotoko album (this autumn/winter), shifty and domu deliver this heavy loaded dancefloor monster. rough straight beats come with low basses, melodies and other strange sounds. side b brings two dope beat tracks, very good dj-tools. this release will please house- & techno headz easily as much, as it will all broken beat lovers. check!

greyscale is proud to announce the newest full-length album to the label. ignacio tardieu is the producer and >fades to grey< is the albums name. 10 outstanding tracks that delve thru different variations of dub techno that are sure to please the modern dub techno listeners and the most discerning of them. highlights include, >part 01< that even at 9+ minutes seems too short for this epic and atmospheric standout gem. >part 02< is a faster paced beauty that envelopes the listener in an airy almost orchestral cycle movements reminiscent of wolfgangs voigts gas project. but for the dancefloor! >part 05< is sure to be a standout as well! foreboding in the approach and majestic in its temperament, you wont find many deeper than this. parts 00, 03 and 08 all delve into more roots elements of dub foundations. pushing sonic boundaries while firmly respecting the lineage of the genre. lastly, part 09 might be the most experimental on the album leaving the listener excited about the future direction of ignacio tardieu. a >fades to grey< is another jewel in the greyscale discography. this release is as usual, mastered with grace by our own grad_u with visual respect and support from rima prusakova.
