overmono return to xl recordings with their second ep in march 2017. arla ii is the follow up to last year s debut arla ep and further crystallizes the duo s immense & innovative sound. this latest 6-tracker from ed & tom russell (known respectively for their solo tessela and truss projects) carries things forward from its predecessor in underscoring overmono as a fully formed & ongoing project. . nstead of searching for commonalities between their earlier individual work, overmono combines the russells artistic talents in order to reach the spaces between ambient, techno & uk hardcore dynamics that few current acts are capable of reaching. born of the brothers collective creative impulse and staking out its own defined place in the contemporary landscape of electronic music, overmono are firmly amongst those pushing the form into new and exciting places. all of this is now also being explored in a live setting. having made their debut at krakow s experimental electronic music festival, unsound in october 2016, overmono will be performing a number of live and dj dates throughout 2017.

at the tail-end of 2017, xl recordings reissued jonny ls seminal d&b album sawtooth on vinyl for the first time. a move that further cemented the records game-changer status, dj mag hailed the record as being still the future, while resident advisor said 20 years later, sawtooth still sounds like an outlier. so after showcasing this 20-year-old classic, xl recordings are today releasing a 12inch containing remixes of the most iconic track from the lp, piper. with efforts from peverelist, overmono, powell and zomby, these remixes go some way towards showing the influence jonny ls music still has on a wide range of contemporary electronic artists.
earlier in 2017 nathan fake released his keenly anticipated fourth album “providence” to rapturous acclaim. fact hailed it as “career defining… one of the best electronic albums you’ll hear in 2017” and dj mag made it their “album of the month”. on this follow-up ep, fake delivers a brand new track ‘bosky’: “a spiky, but warm and pretty raw roland/boss analord-inspired studio jam with synth autoharp improvisation”, calls on tessela and truss (xl, r&s, perc trax, poly kicks) aka overmono and huerco s. (proibito, software) to rework album highlight ‘degreelessness’ (feat. prurient) and additionally showcases the talents of polish composer and multi-instrumentalist olga wojciechowska who submits a stunning modern classical interpretation of ‘hoursdaysmonthsseasons’.
