lorca kick starts 2014 with forgive me love / naoko, his debut release on breachs (aka ben westbeech) naked naked imprint, joining the ranks of dusky, dark sky, midland, mak & pasteman and westbeech himself. the two-track ep follows up lorcas highly acclaimed 2013 if i told you ep on 2020 midnight visions, and his stellar remix of ghostpoets cold win which received widespread support, with midland tipping it as quite possibly the remix of the year. with highly lauded releases on dummy, throwing snows left_blank imprint and church, lorca has made a strong impression in the two short years he has been producing. his superb cant see higher / missed me ep in 2012 on dummy was the turning point, transforming him from a promising young talent into an exceptional one, gaining support from the likes of bonobo, rob da bank, deetron and scuba… this latest release meets building expectations, both tracks incredibly smooth, nostalgia-inducing and heavily textured, solidifying lorcas unique sound.

guy andrews has been a prominent name on the underground circuit as of late, racking up a reputable back catalogue with releases and remixes for the likes of hotflush, hemlock and the vinyl factory. andrews has seen heavy support on the aforementioned singles from the likes of lorca, the black dog and a1 bassline, testament to his classy, understated take on house and techno. here guy joins the fina records roster, following a release from dfrnt, a striking indication of the attentive a&r approach of the label so far this year.

church is a much respected london party that invites the likes of juan atkins, darling farah, marcellus pittman and other such underground heavyweights to their events, and have done for 18 months. now well established, founders seb wildblood & apes are taking the next step and launching a label of the same name after dipping their toe in the release arena with a lorca white label, ‘faith evans refix’ which was out in late september.

gems from ibex, benjamin brunn, pirahnahead and theo parrish on the third ear catalogue selected and re-imagined by red rack em, xdb, lorca music and morphosis upperground orchestra. highly recommended.

ok we can do a long text here... but lets not do that.... fantastic track by recast (aka fluxion)! a blissed-out track that is lush and jazzy! the experience of years of precision crafting dubby tech soundscapes is brought to these tracks, which are grooving house vibes executed in the melodic but quirky manner of isolee or luomo. lorca music is on remix duty here and did a great job with a clattering, skittering groove that is somewhere between 2-step and brokenbeat, the result is heavy and provides a nice alternative to the two recast versions. this is pure techno as we like it... not the banging big room techno, but techno we know from pioneers such as derrick may, carl craig, john beltran, stefan robber and the likes. no shit... this is just one of the most beautiful records we ve heard in a while.
