amish boy aka sküge (not to be confused with skudge) is hugues croibien, a thirty seven year old belgian who has experimented with electronic music since his teens. with a diet of seal phüric, the prodigy, autechre and unit moebius stoking his primordial fire, croibien began to align with the rage that exists in the breakcore genre. already an addict of reggae and dub at this time, croibien decided to create some cut-up raggacore with his brand new ableton live 3 software. meanwhile with friends, croibien created break n brol, a non-lucrative association which tried to promote alternative electronic music in liège where he lived. they premiered some bassline stars kanji kinetic and -squire of gothos- on the belgian scene, alongside other alternative electronic composers and musicians like subjex, ebola, mustard gunn and herrmutt lobby. the fellowship decided to create a free net label to release compilations with the bnb party artists. the rough style techno resurgence over the last few years has precipitated a metamorphosis, sküge became amish boy more glitchy than techno, more offbeat than acid and more ambivalent than industrial. although heavily invested for two decades now, laika test project on power vacuum will be croibiens first vinyl release, with a follow-up already in the pipeline.

in ancient lddlm times, blddlm even, belgium could well have been the freaky house and ecstasy center of the world. if only we could remember all the lost hours. but after all, as the brussel saying goes: its friday, tomorrow is tuesday. at lddlm, we try not to reminisce, that was just setting the mood.we are very happy to welcome arthur johnson in our non-fold, a young producer from liege via marseille and la dame noir. aj is amongst those ever mutating artists, his u-turns slowly composing a real personality, and one fitting our contrarian attitude. in a way perfect stranger reminds us of a good 90’s farley/heller remix, not so much camp fire island than almost sweaty late night trancer. we love those tracks that do not fit our ethos a priori but that we can’t stop playing. cosmo vitelli is a long time family friend and he beams up this stranger through the axis into some kind of romantic italo-german anthem. ballada and secretary discordia show a different side of aj, a dub march echoing dif juz and a percussive machine funk number. we sincerely hope aj keeps on straying for the best, his way being our way.

a sublime slice of boogie-funk, alec mansion has steadily gained the status of a crate-digging classic. accordingly, it has been near-impossible to unearth a physical copy in good condition for many years. be with is delighted to present the first ever vinyl reissue, remastered in time to grace the discerning terraces and boat parties of the coming summer months. originally released in 1983, the lp arrived with impeccable credentials programming duties were handled by dan lacksman (the brains behind telex, the belgian kraftwerk) whilst production came from marc moulin (of jazz-rock fusion heroes placebo). at the time its merits were mainly praised by radio and studio heads. today, mansions masterpiece is lauded by boogie aficionados from liege to los angeles.

needless to say this one s been in the pipeline for a while and we re super happy to announce it s imminent arrival. comprised of the duo of emmanuel corre and silvere letelier, nummer have surprised and impressed many with their fresh take on the last 20+ years of dance music. inspired by the deepest strains of detroit, chicago, new york and their native france the pair have tapped into something that few artists manage these days - an original style. this sprawling 2x12inch touches on many of these cornerstones but never apes anyone s sound or vibe, forging their own path into the cosmos and beyond. machine music with a beating heart is central to the second sight atmosphere and nummer s character as producers. this is the deepness.

in its five years dgtl has carved its style and sound worldwide as one of amsterdams staple dance music institutions. this year the organisation is deepening its focus and vision. therefore dgtl is launching its own imprint dgtl records. the label builds on the festivals musical theme of an evocative cross section of the sounds and styles showcasing forward thinking, cutting edge artists. the one to kick off the new imprint will be the bulgarian hardware wizard kink. best known for his live performances, teemed with explosive energy, which for a consecutive year puts him to the no.1 spot of live acts on ra poll, he is also one of houses most in demand producers. kink has worked with dgtl for quite some time, including last years audiovisual installation transmission tower, where the first track neutrino was born. the melodic neutrino , kicks off with syncopating bassline. its interconnecting layers organically jump over and under each other, reflecting the organic character of kinks live performances, where every knob touch and turn matters. on the latter, he built the b-sider dynamo: i loaded my favourite element from neutrino in my computer and i tweaked the sound through various weird devices in my studio, till it sounded like a completely new track. as usual, he added a few endless loops on the record, for the adventurous djs, exclusively for the 12inch. the idea for the dgtl records artwork is to feature a different visual/graphic artist from the dgtl art program every year starting with the cover from tim buiting and his graphical visual of the liege train station, designed by calatrava for this years releases.

compuphonic aka maxim firket is a multifaceted producer and dj from liege, belgium, who was raised on a well-balanced diet of classical music, early electronics and industrial variants from kraftwerk to front 242, and the revolutionary soundwave that swept over from detroit, michigan. hence, maxim did not only grow up to become a skillful violoncellist, but also a producer with a unique approach, blending his various sources of inspiration into one intelligent mix of old-school electro, house and minimal stylings.

a yawning desert covers and oppresses a distant daemon-sphere pregnant with the stuff of a thousand earths. clouds of the same hue and attitude as the infinite sands gradually dominate the sky, possessed of a malign intelligence. a trans-generational caravan cuts an unforgiving line through the dunes in a fruitless mission to close its great mad circle, forever missing by just miles. it is a roving, innumerable harem in liege to an unsexed tyrant who sings them this song, reproduced here by resonant hole emissaries jeanne vomit-terror and ed sunspot, as the caravan commits the abominable act of transgressing the horizon into the infant sky-desert “above.” carl calm’s “gulf of night” mix is a monster, as is the great mike simonetti’s perverse interpretation!
