reissue - k-hand, the undisputed -first lady- of detroit house and techno, continues her series of rereleases for some of acacia records most sought after catalog. acacia s reputation as music from a well known place to an unknown destination precedes it with a reach that is once again being expanded upon. originally making its mark in 1993, -not giving up- is a piano chord led number with eccentric disco era falsetto vocals interspersed between a house diva counterpart, all undercut by equally classic rough around the edges low end - touching on hand s influences from the new york golden days. the plastic dream mix is a more sinister springboard of sounds with an urgent energy sure to rip through speaker stacks and leave audiences in shreds. easily its dreamiest incarnation, the disco dream adaptation lends itself to bouncier, filtered grooves and vocal dubs. the ghetto growl of -beat that bitch wit a stick- was and still remains a huge track for k-hand and the label. pulling from a sound that originated in chicago, it became equally prominent in detroit through the work of hand and others. its accompanied here by an instrumental version for those that don t share in the street logic, but nonetheless love the gritty production style. finally, the legendary claude young s mix of - deep down 2- sees him implementing wavering chords and loopy vocals with a purposefully loose nyc stutter

in the dust of idols is an album exploring mortality, existentialism & the dread one can feel in the face of an apparently meaningless world. the journey you embark on when trying to create meaning where there is perhaps none. these initial senses of dread can be brought about by the insignificance you feel in the face of greatness, where others have seemingly found meaning and purpose in the face of your own wavering path.

were happy to welcome back harry wolfman for a full record after his fine collaborative square lane ep with loz goddard last year. here he delves into the leftfield side of house, this dreamy 5-tracker. torontos jesse futerman joins us for the remix fresh from his debut releases on church and omena.fermi brings the tropically tinged deep house heat, wavering pads and buoyant bass paint us a mirage of sweltering summer days ahead. ice thin starts as a melancholic mover, it steadily builds through dusty samples, shaken percussion and smokey moods elevating the energy into something euphoric. things get gritty as we flip to the b-side. downstream is a dark and grainy outing, edgy arps work in and out of tough drums and frenzied synths. jesses superb rework of ice thin features distant horns and vocals that ring out over a warbling rhodes and rumbling bass, then comes the lick of a slide guitar reminiscent of some kind of twisted western. wrapping up this beautiful and somewhat nostalgic journey we turn to outro version a funk laden work out. rich strings and woodwinds fill out the lush landscape that swells and soars across the steady, bottom heavy, dance inducing

dubfire and miss kittin have scored another big hit in the form of their second collaboration ride, the follow-up to the much-loved anthem exit. now, many destroyed dancefloors later and they’re unleashing a big pack of remixes to sit alongside their two original versions. solomun may best known for big melodies and hooks, but his remix boldly displays his affinity for heads down techno. a beast of a track, it centers around ticking percussion and pulsating synth delays with a throbbing low end. minimal in approach, maximal in aesthetic, it’s a no-nonsense groove. matthew dear dons his audion guise to remind us how instrumental he was in formulating that oddball techno sound a decade ago, making good use of the vocals in the heady breakdowns and matching them with unsettlingly wavering synth sirens and an almost tribal bass stomp. it’s full of atmospheric touches and pulls off a big room feel without resorting to cliches. depeche mode, erasure and yazoo legend vince clarke is a personal hero of dubfire’s, making his appearance on this package all the more of a special, rare treat. his chunky house groove is decked out with rolling congas, electro arpeggios and a yearning, bluesy guitar lick. french star djedjotronic has himself remixed depeche mode, and his version rounds off the package with throbbing low end, harrowing synths, techy percussion and brooding reese bass swells. with four very different mixes to choose from, this is an immense package that is set to cause havoc on dancefloors worldwide for some time to come.

for our first release of 2017 and number 023 in the fina catalogue, we are super happy to welcome finnish producer saine to the family. saine has been on our hit list for a number of years and we are delighted to finally be releasing his aptly named mint ep saine delivers 3 classy cuts brimming with hip-hop fused, organic house sound that have always grabbed our attention in the past on labels such as sleazy beats, black ops, voyage, odd socks and quartet series. the mint ep continues in the saine vein(see what we did there) with obscure sample wizardry, thumping straight-to-the-bone beats & wavering analogue synth textures which do not disappoint. it is with great pleasure that we kick off 2017 with a bang & present saines mint ep – this ep is a must!

in the summer of 2016 hove went to france for two weeks to start writing and recording his new ep portes du soleil. together with his girlfriend they spent two weeks at le pascalet, a house in the woods of the cevennes, right outside the small village of st. etienne vallee franc&#807,,,aise. equipped with a sampler, a drum-machine,some synths, effect pedals and a mic for feld- recordings, he built the foundation of the 4 songs that would later become the ep portes du soleil. all the songs started out as live-jams. the goal was to create different moods and patterns inspired by the surroundings of the forest, long walks, playing petanque and plenty of pastis. the tracks were later fnalized back home at hoves studio in zurich. musically portes du soleil feels like the natural follow up to his debut ep journey to arendal. hoves tracks are wavering between sozzled grooves and warm, woozy atmospheres. field- recordings from their daily routine in and around the house were either used to enrich the ambiance, or as in calme infni, they were transformed into a whole song. even though portes du soleil was written during the summer, the record is not bound to any season it is simply an excerpt of hoves life in 2016.

british producer reformed society is on a steadfast mission to dig deeper by going against the grain, standing up to the status quo and daring to do something different. a self proclaimed goal that is easily noticeable in his first release for “made of concrete”, wherein he reveals three original tracks and a remix by gathaspar, one of the label’s regulars. kicking things off with “high tension”, a high strung stripped back piece with an aerial feel, the artist builds up the entire mood of the ep from scratch. a clear-cut, steady groove whose versatility makes it relevant as an intro, outro or interlude. gathaspar’s rausch remix is a sub-bassy reinterpretation of the initial piece, filled with contorted whirs and whizzes that give the track a sub- aquatic feel. on “volgende halte”, the opening vocal sample shifts from a seemingly conventional soundbite to a recurringly haunting snippet that remains etched into the listener’s brain. rhythmical rolling pads galvanize the groove, making for an eerie yet relaxed overall vibe. movement inducing from the get go, final offering “orbiting jupiter” centers around wavering bass leads, while playing on a blend of spacious synths and timbered percussion patterns.

guy andrews first appeared on pennyroyals parent label hemlock with shades / textures in 2011, two cinematic and reflective uk techno tracks that earned him a loyal student fanbase. he returned to the wavering imprint in 2013 with the pounding tribal thumper resistivity and has since released an ep on leeds based techno label fina because his ex-manager thought it would be good to keep things moving. since then guy has been busy developing a unique career portfolio including composing for film and television, launching a niche specialist winter sports fashion line and lifestyle channel curl goth and more recently founding a peer-to-peer lending co-operative and crypto-currency for exchanging controversial facts surrounding the national trust.

odd004 is the first various artists release from odd socks, and marks the beginning of a series titled trips & trinkets. returning to the label a year since he kicked things off for us, josh t teams up with bristols arkist for their track fleabag – with chunky slomo grooves and funk sensibilities dripping all over an infectious beat.ad bourke joins the ranks with his sunday afternoon stroller, water sign. warm bassline grooves and fluttering flute samples sandwich delicate, wavering rhodes. on the flip, leeds-based tms’s debut release individualism is a dreamy little number that twinkles and plods around live hi-hats and a full-bodied bassline. saine rounds things off with his dramatic, heartstring-pulling should-be-a-movie-score epic, ratio.

troy pierce, marc houle & magda team up to present their first ever trio release on items & things, >down & out vol 1< - which takes its name from their newly created party series - events that are based around the dark & intimate, off the radar, and under the ground. troy pierce starts things off with >majikal<, introducing the eps dark magic with a climbing bassline, scattering, almost anxious percussion and buoyant sound effects panned throughout. ominous atmospheres and weighted textures produce a cinematic accompaniment to surveyors of uncharted terrain. building a continual tension-and-release cycle, the track is a lucid whirlwind of sonic imagery and trickery, balancing visceral sounds with the otherworldly. magda teams up with suade, a producer & friend from newcastle that we are sure to see more of, together they bring forth a true builder, a creeper, the type of track that reveals itself more with each layering sequence. a masterclass in dynamics, >fixation< is a dark groove thats haunted by a chilling vocal, wavering synth vibrato, unexpected melodies, and juxtaposes of funk. angular drums hit alongside swells of percussive echoes but, the focus of the track revolves around the bassline’s movement. as catchy as it is esoteric. marc houles >slowpe< ends the ep with a slightly slower pace, but in a disconcerting way: taking it down a few notches this one that transports the listener to the strangest dimension yet. filtered melodies start the tracks ascent, sounding like a trumpet thats been bent out of shape and played from the void. with dark textures compactly knit into a condensed wall of sound, a low-slung bassline trades places with eerie chords and sparse percussion
