total makt is the molten new ep from evigt morker. there s plenty to be charmed by as the collection of tracks open out and tame our senses. once the flirting fades, we are quite casually led down bumpy, aqueous routes into something, and slowly we are funnelled into evigt morker s terrain, eventually arriving in darker corners of the fantasy that first caught our eye.
alexander kowalski has been immersed in techno for a long time, and his sound is massively representative of the reduced, late night berlin sound. as d_func. he s contributed many times to marcel heese s finitude label, and now he s back to pay tribute to uk free party techno legends spiral tribe. kowalski s own interpretation may be more minimal and hypnotic than the wild, raucous energy spiral tribe was best known for, but his trancey approach comes on like a nostalgic vision into the early 90s, while also aligning with the modern masters such as donato dozzy and peter van hoesen.
van abbe is back with no comment presenting 2 originals, a monologue from guy tavares (bunker records) + an evigt mörker remix. what did you feel the first time you were stargazing? standing alone in a dark backyard with your neck bent and the light from a thousand distant suns glittering in your bright eyes. did the overwhelming sensation of your own triviality descend upon your young soul like a dementor from azkaban? or did an unprecedented yearning breach every fibre of your being, compelling you to break free from the shackles binding you to the very ground? if you are in the latter category, this music is constructed especially for you. its a spaceship built from wooden barrels and rusty metal crates, pinned together with a multitude of crooked nails. but it works. it really does. you just have to make your mind broad enough to fit your clumsy terrestrial body in the spacecraft. the booming engines and the melodic bleeps from the control panel will do the rest. soon enough you’ll find yourself surrounded by the very stars you used to gaze upon as a child.
substrato continues its path through the research of sounds from the hidden worlds. the label returns with the first various artist called “submerged worlds”. this release is marked out by the juxtaposition of artists coming from different areas lead together by the exploration of sharpened sounds, contributing to this timeless installment.

italian producer alfredo mazzilli presents us with logical strength, his second ep on weekend circuit. across 4 tracks he expresses his own unique take on the deepest strains of techno and it s outer reaches. ep opener logical strength is a throbbing piece of driving, menacing wormhole music with heavy arpeggiated sounds and rock solid, incessant drum-programming, leaving nothing standing in it s wake it is a firm statement of intent. nuvole sees the pace change slightly, adopting more of an eerie, borderline hallucinatory feel. the track unfolds beautifully with heavenly pads and synth swells draped across some tribally infused drums. on side 2 we have a stellar remix of nuvole from eminent swedish producer evigt mörker who travels a more subdued, sedate path with his interpretation. finishing off this 4 track excursion we are drawn into the beatless, introspective terrain of parhelion . a beautifully nuanced and subtle way to close things. washes of synth and atmosphere embrace us as we travel onwards, deeper into the night. alfredo mazzilli shows us once again his own individual and unique style on this ep, another essential chapter in the weekend circuit story.
swiss dj-producer honorée debuts on rekids with two intricate numbers featuring swedish producer evigt mörker. a key component in switzerland’s thriving electronic music scene, honorée is an accomplished dj and no stranger to playing alongside the upper echelons of house and techno. she now demonstrates her production abilities with an excellent inaugural outing on rekids. ‘pearls’ sees deep notes and stuttering percussion join echoing french vocals for a stripped-back exhibition of mesmerising house. feeling integrates sultry chords with syncopated drums whilst a whispering voice ebbs in and out of the mix. evigt mörker, known for appearances on semantica records and konstrukt, then steps up for a rhythmic and ethereal rendition of pearls.
in the fourth modern cathedrals release, altstadt echo crafts three original works with a focus on experimentation with broken beat structures and grainy percussive texture, against a backdrop of austere atmospheres. varg contributes a remix that emphasizes the despairing tones of the descent, contrasted with glistening treble percussion and and stumbling bass. to end the release, evigt mörker offers an extended hypnotic version of the track that slowly develops from a functional framework into an atmospheric drift. the thematic aspects of the release follow the development of modern cathedrals as a label, expressing existentialist themes centered around the search for meaning in a life that forbids it. the label art features photographs of the beautiful remains of one of detroits many unused churches
all sounds running together, combined, fused or following. sounds of the city and sounds out of the city, sounds of the day and night. thousands of machines and a thousand different noises, combining them according to our imagination.
