chicago basement trax returns with an homage to the king of the raw himself ron hardy. those that experienced ron hardy first hand will tell you there was a vibe like no other. a minimal space with strobe lights and a bangin system. if you put your hands on an eq or isolator as a dj thank ron as being an innovator of this creative style of frequency manipulation. not only did ron drop the bass, he dropped whole songs to expose the beautiful crispy hi hats, vocals and then romanced you with the piano before slapping your whole body with the beat. this ep does its job to take you there, just close your eyes and blast off!

new kanada is honored to have the awesome murr (aka nicholas murray) take the reins on the next release. dusty drums, worn-out pads and a deep respect for the early beatsmiths, nick always creates an atmosphere in his tracks that is definitely not the flavor of the month - but rather the taste of the year. on the a-side, >noise in< is a tough dusty jacker, that builds from a tight dub intoa shimmering melodic bomb. feels like early transmat, late gherkin, or an americanized lfo. shuffle, simmer, and slam. the second cut on the a-side, >broken glass<, is a slamming ode to the sp1200. beats swung hard, percussion rattling the kilter way off, and a suffocating groove. watch out - the shards are sharp. on the b-side, marshall reshapes the original >noise in< into a brutal example of a tough mixing tool. heavy, pulsing basslines and an incessant jack groove. this one should move the floor. red, yellow and orange. rockit!

jack for daze is one of the new clone series of releases inspired by the early house releases from chicago. one of the main inspirations of the clone crew... first release is done by neville watson, known for his collaboration with kink. two sweet tracks that are highly influenced by joe lewis and larry heard. two tracks that sound as if they came out of a time machine. clone founder serge produced a modern jack track together with gerd as bonus track. back into the studio since a long time and just playing around they came up with a nice hybrid mix somewhere inbetween an old gherkin gherks / larry heard release and a modern club track. crazy low bass kick and a classic jacking percussion drive combined with todays production skills. a proper club tool that compliments this first jack for daze release... very much recommended!

the inaugural release on 7777 instantly recalls the sound of the legendary gherkin and target imprints from chicago. but rather than spawn direct imitation, a flare of detroit is gently added to the equation. an expansive remix is added on the b-side by the acid powerhouse production duo tnt (tadd mullinix and todd osborn), whose releases on their eponymous imprint have been highly sought after. a brutal working of the a-sides >drug related stories<, this epic has already been well received by the patrons of late night/early morning clubs in detroit.

hutton drive (known for his great tracks on 7th-sign and soma) brings us 2 chicago bassment tracks in the style of early dj rush, larry heard (gherkin) and roy davis. especially '324' which is a long buildig track that builds and builds and goes on with a dirty irrisistable groove. the flip contains 'moodin' which has a energy like lil louis french kiss and is kind of cross over between early chicago and detroit. check
