the next entry for the fof? label sees meadow taking the healm. meadows remix of previous release, >kheema<, takes the dubby-ness of the original to new heights and ratchets up the intensity with an undulating warming pad that laps over the senses whilst elements of the original tease in the back ground. >the cheese< takes the ep in an alternative direction, stepping over into dub step territory with oh so deep bass stabs underpinning the skankin percussion with traditional dub elements sparkling in the foreground. rounding of the ep is >6 steps<, a musically crafted slice of deep house for the afterparty complete with hazy melodies.

this one is just deeply delicious, no matter if played on low or high volume. fear of flying takes us on a deep flight through dubnesia.

2016 repress , having provided a remix for the label back in 2010 ethyl & flori now release their first full ep for the label, the last ninja kicks things off with an unmistakable old school tech-house feel which to us at fof recalled the classic architecture dj mix by terry francis with its punchy kick, sharp percussion and imbued uplifting warmth. fornjot by flori on the flip is a different proposition, although still deeply entrenched in a throwback to yesterdays production stylings, this is a much more techno orientated groove with the tracks repeated metallic bass riff anchoring the track in a gloriously hypnotic yet fresh way.

** ltd 2016 repress ** the next release on fofs deeper house offshoot sees the labels roster swell to include two producers who are ascending the ranks, their recent >gruff it< track on the hotter than hot >visionquest< label has turned a heads and they look set to continue their upward trajectory. matthew has also released solo projects on john shepheards >retrofit< label as well as providing the debut release for sammy ds >ultrastretch< label. not only that but matthew is currently in the middle of his summer residency at berlins much revered club der visionaere. >take me away< is a pure slice of chord driven deep house and as such is a slight departure for the duo, the melodies inclining towards more melancholic feelings. remixes come from recent fof favourite scahtrax who strips the track right back, injecting a booming bass heavy kick drum & atmospherics to lend the track a more hypnotic tone. label co-owner blm injects a dubbier feel into his take on the flip. finally, matthew burton goes solo for >tell them phill sent ya< - a loose limbed dancefloor workout reminiscent of perlon in their pomp.

nail provides the lead track for fofs latest vinyl only excursion - originally produced in the same time period as the classic tracks on the ode rammel reissue ep earlier in the year, glazed lay dormant on one of nails dats for many years before being rediscovered and given its first airing now on fof. chunky roughed up house beats are the order of the day here, a real peak time groove. new talent harry mccanna, resident at londons infamous undersound nights, debuts with act 1, a beautifully subtle bassline driven groove that rises above the pack with its super warm pad lending the track a warm and fuzzy hypnotic edge. romanian talent zece kicks off the flipside with the most contemporary offering, a breakbeat laden groove with a fx laden vocal snatch underpinned by that all important b-line whilst sonodab rounds things off with a beautifully deep and melodic slice of electro on brown study, the percussive elements giving rise to a hazy melodic pattern for those early hour excursions.

jerome lol steps out of the shadow from defunct supergroup lol boys with his first solo release the deleted/fool ep on fof music. no stranger to electronic music he was named faders top djs to watch in 2013 and spent the better part of the year touring with baths, juan atkins and anthony shakir.

ltd backstock . ivano tetelepta returns to duty on fof after his well received * true colours* lp with a veritable potpourri of tracks in collaboration with various cohorts. first up ivanos collaboration with steve siwalette twists and turns with a steppas beat whilst melodic licks build the track up to its anthemic break. * give me something so i can dance* w/alex jansen roughs things up with a low-slung dirty groove whist ben buiendijk injects an acidic flavour into his collaboration before ivano & bas amro delve deeper with the sweetly melancholic tones of * manolia*.

roger gerressen switches to the main fof label for his next release, liberal taking up the entirety of the a side with a killa groove resplendent with knife edged percussion and tripped out synth stabs. flipsides mint goes subaquatic with a serious slice of heads down bizinizz - a male spoken vocal refrain repeats throughout to give a hypnotic edge. lastly, roger teams up with his buddy smokin g on drunk game, super rounded, housed up beats and an undulating synth / string line permeate the groove lending the ep a sense of levity.

ltd 2013 repress... ah, romanians. doncha just love em. well, it appears that, yes, we very much do here at fof as over the years we seem to have nurtured our fair share of talent haling from those shores and here we are yet again with another bright young thing in the shape of nu zau.pason a dark and trippy early morning ride, haunting pads and vocal snatches really bringing home the heady vibe over the course of its 10 minute running length. de ja vu on the flip acts as a nice counterpoint with its more optimistic outlook - a frisky tech house groover reminiscent of productions from the early days of londons tech house scene, still with an underlying sense of trippiness but one more associated with hot shimmering days spent outdoors than pasons sweatier dark room feel

fear of flying unleash their first ever lp with dutchman ivano tetelepta undertaking the honours. the 8 tracks on the vinyl are a step away from the traditional straight up 4/4 route that fof usually tread, feeling that for an lp to make a splash in the modern era it has to be more about the flow of tracks as a whole, rather than just a double pack of straight up house beats. there has to be a splash more emotion and feeling with the emphasis on mood. yet that isnt to say there arent club worthy tracks, far from it. the glorious twisted 120 and deep tech funk 119 are custom made for the dancefloor and are exclusive to the vinyl release

to round off 2011 fear of flying enlist the talents of shenoda, a name that may be familiar to a few of you who follow the uk based >hypercolour< label. the >mines of minolta ep< kicks off with >phone call< - harnessing the essence of steve o sullivans bluetrain project the track runs deep with a dubbed out bassline and moody stylings a plenty. the flip sides two tracks inject a lighter, uplifting feel with >night eater< shuffling along on a blissed out pad and solid percussion. >supercede< follows on nicely with the same warm vibe to round off a really solid package and a great way for fof to sign off for the year

fof kick off 2011 with a nod to the past in the form of justin drake (peace division) and kevin griffiths- (tsuba) -the devil-s eyes-, a deliciously grimy jackin- groove, coming on like a low slung mid 90s house production a la schatrax. we enlisted the talents of christopher rau for the first remix. as many of you know christopher has had an impressive 2010 culminating in his critically acclaimed lp -asper clouds- for the always excellent smallville label. chris cleverly uses elements of the original, intertwined them into an altogether quirkier, more optimistic deep house groove with a definite injection of -fun-: to round off the package, new talent bleak takes the reigns, providing a peak time techno stomper. bleak-s debut single will be released on hamburg imprint -sudden drop- sometime in early 2011 and promises to mark bleak out as a name to look out for.

a lot has happened to blm since his last solo ep back in 2008, fatherhood being the main factor for his absence. thankfully the nappy changing musical magician didnt stop tinkering with his synths in that time has come back with a string of forthcoming productions that mark a real step up in quality for him. so, first up blm releases on home soil on his own fof label. garage is back keeps things silky smooth – simplicity is the key here, the percussive elements building slowly before the evocative vocal of suz brings a hypnotic sexyness to the whole affair. step to this is the logical progression from his last fof release (believe in love) with its skippy beats and uplifting stabs being a sure winner for the coming summer. mulletover promoter / dj / all around sexual dynamo geddes provides a rather splendid dub remix of garage is back on the flip. cleverly using key elements of the original to keep the flava but dipping the tempo to give it more of a groove based feel. we think its a high watermark for the man.. check it

d julzs bass culture records has undoubtedly been one of the major highlights of 2009. in just four releases the french label has set the bar for all others in terms of quality and 2010 is looking to be a groundbreaking year for them. the second release of 10 showcases the label head keeping it detroit, and a bit in the grey area - with the lov is easy release by anonym. anonym. the one who is anonymous. with releases on anonymous release, archipel, bloop, pariter, fof, and sushitech. anonym has also contributed the scoring soundtrack to works on display at the museum of moving images in nyc for pbfb. according to the man himself, i am anonym the one who is anonymous. i am anonymous because in any popular music form prone to be ransacked by the egos of its participants, a state of grace is best achieved and sustained by pursuing a life of anonymity. that preserves its creators from the warping stare of the media and its public in the process. his sound is tempered with grace & style, with a feeling of - detroit is my heart and often my songs sing her praises. i have known her all my life.
