berlin based algorythm announces behind the clouds ep on neptune records. the ep is the second to come from neptune records with his debut santos express marking the inception of the label. opener a1 how i bust that a** up is a raw stomping house banger rich with giddy profanities rolling throughout. switching production styles alogrythm takes a more gentle approach enveloping bubbling aquatic techno with depth charged house on pearls . big beat repeat is a self-explanatory ear-worm and title track behind the clouds rounds the ep nicely with cascading synths nodding to the likes of crash course in science.

sound carrier volume 8it’s back to the cosmos with the latest instalment in chris carrier’s always-on-point series, sound carrier. the label is a home for the prolific paris artist’s techno stylings, and no.8 in the series focuses on a galactical fight theme – taking us from terra firma up into the skies and beyond. the first track, ‘alien blaster pistol’, couldn’t be more self-explanatory. mysterious keys parade over an ominous bassline while the beats keep things moving neatly. gentle chimes and bleeps are added, initiating a dialogue between the various high frequencies located in the top end. next up is ‘mahem (magneto hydrodynamic explosive munition)’, which steps into familiar sound carrier territory, that is… slightly unhinged. rolling along at a steady pace, the tune is rough, yet light with shimmering effects and charming wobbly chunks of bass. on side b chris gets gnarly on us with ‘earth invasion’. it’s the beginning of the end, so of course the music has to match that frightening prospect. gruff beats and stomping bass collide with cymbals, crunchy snares and mutant acid licks to create a beast. finally, ‘haumea brigade’ takes us into the twilight zone again, whirring fx float above hard-hitting beats and a mean b-line. eerie pads help to maintain a chilling tone throughout. deadly, the soundtrack to the end of days here on earth... prepare to evacuate!

some of the countrys finest, from the early and present house scene, are united on this release. raoul belmans also know as dj raoul (swirl people/food club/silo), raffa formerly know from soul and future jazz band sweet coffee and labelowner melodymann bring three feel good house cuts based around a self explanatory vocal motif *keep it coming!* by one of melodymathics residents - alex agore. it is this sort of euphoric house music you can drop anytime in your set and just stand back watching a sea of arms raised in response.

this latest 12 comes courtesy of phil mison & pete herberts much lauded reverso 68 project. baa boo is exactly the kind of blissfully dreamy groove we have come to expect from this accomplished production duo, musical, melodic and tailormade for sunnier climes. on the flip we have piano 89, pretty self explanatory really, but for the benefit of those not pushing 40, its an old school house jam, drenched in the kind of italo piano hook that used to ignite late 80s dancefloors and is destined to do the same some 20 years on - magical.

miss kittin & the hacker are right back in action with the first commercially available single from their long awaited (and excellent) second album entitled, suitably enough, >two<. this 12inch comes with a remix by french newcomer maxime dangles. 1000 dreams reflects just one style on an album crammed full of ideas, songs, sounds, influences, hues and textures.first up is >1000 dreams (maxime dangles remix)<. maxime is a (comparatively) fresh-faced newcomer from valence in france, who previously has had some remarkable releases on labels such as colognes kompakt extra (speicher) and scandium records. he strips down the original and imbues it with a thumping melodic club vibe, utilising kittins vocal to devastating effect. nice stuff. very. 1000 dreams<. miss kittin and the hacker sprinkle space dust on a song that sounds like it has been germinated in a mid 70s discotheque, tended with loving care during the 80s and revealed to the world in 2009. a dreamy collision of influences, classic and new. 1000 dreams (instrumental). pretty much self-explanatory, this one. enjoy

ray kajioka returns with his 4th work on kanzleramt >simplify<! modify to simplify is rays credo and so it is self explanatory that this release bears the tile >simplify<. the daily grinds with undulating ups and downs give ray the pulse for making things straight without being ornate. downloads of this release wont be available before april 2008 !
