for our second release of 2018 ears have eyes are back with the third instalment of our throng of orbs compilation series. this time around we welcome back old friends, and bring in some new names to the ehe fold, with a collection of tracks spanning deep emotive house music, broken beats and acid dancefloor pressure. first up we have contours, who burst onto the scene in 2015 with an excellent release on the mighty rhythm section, and has put out a slew of great records since then. dither takes time to unfold, but when the fluid acid line emerges from the heady percussion he really sets up the track for dancefloor perfection. for the a2 we welcome back chocky to the label, and he serves up a slice of weighty house music that drips quality and emotion. pickle dat kicks off with an absolute beauty of a groove, understated but weighty, and from there chocky goes on to sprinkle just the right amount of seasoning, with soulful rhodes licks and a wonderful bass line. off the back of their excellent 12- on love on the rocks, elles x violet kick off the b side with yrnyb, a tried and tested dancefloor destroyer. when we heard elles playing this in a dark basement in peckham, we just had to sign it. sometimes a kick drum, an acid line and a half heard vocal is all you need. finishing off the release we have dublin artist replete serving up a lovely slice of hazy, percussive house music that slowly builds to a crescendo. an acidic bassline sits nicely over congas and a warm, rounded kick drum.

archie pelago is a trio from brooklyn. greg plays cello, zack plays saxophone, and dan plays trumpet and works the knobs. the archie guys did one of the very first releases on mister saturday night records, and we’re very happy to have them back – especially with such brilliant tunes. the a side, clammy customer, takes dozens of twists and turns, weaving in vocals by the always excellent gabriel garzon-montano, and the b side, madame suede nightshade, was apparently made with us in mind (check the initials). both sides are tried and tested on our dancefloor and cut at 45rpm for maximum oomph.

during the mid-1970s, the aggrovators could do no wrong. this ace team of session musicians that was forged as an off-shoot of the soul syndicate were responsible for some of the biggest hits of the decade, recorded with bunny lees rising stars, such as johnnie clarke and his rival, cornell campbell. following on from the great shalom dub set of 1975, rasta dub 76 is another truly magnificent dub set culled from aggrovators hits (by johnny clarke, cornell campbell and others), this time, the entire album was given a scintillating mix-down at king tubbys studio by the great prince jammy, and the sonic excellence has stood the test of time. another must-have for all connoisseurs of dub.

the producer behind these mind-blowing slabs of heavyweight disco-funk perfection was one jp source, an exile from the geordie ibiza (that will be blackpool) and geordie mecca (erm, newcastle) now living out in the sticks in the states, far from home. the eps title, >get your bearings<, is reference to his struggles to come to terms with his new surroundings.
three tracks, all tried and tested, all disco dynamite. since he sent us these killer edits, jp source has begun to pick up interest elsewhere. he recently released an excellent ep of original material on audio parallax and has material forthcoming on edit, zzr and art star records. we reckon he has got a big future. all the more reason to >get your bearings< and dive into his bedmo disco debut…

the notorious london white vinyl only project is back. this time round tracks selected by gareth wild. this cut through va sees excellent additions to the series via standout material from gareth wild, sp-x, kessell and exciting london based newcomer end train. tried and tested, dance floor killers.
being played and supported by the likes of: marcel dettmann, jonas kopp, kwartz, dax j, rodhad, etapp kyle, dj pete, aiken, rem co, and peter van hoesen.

tokyo tag-team kei and nagi sugano, aka dazzle drums, have been responsible for secret weapons in the bags of some of the finest djs since their debut in 2005. in addition to supporting danny krivit each time he plays in tokyo, the duo periodically floats him exclusive edits to test out during his expansive sets. two of these in particular have become regular features on m. k s dance floors, and it is these prime choices that have been selected for the latest release on most excellent unlimited. -brothers gonna work it out- takes the cinematic soul classic and toughens it up with a propulsive drum track and immaculate editing to extend and energize the already powerful tune. -get down boy- is a relentlessly driving disco cut whose dramatic synth-and-string heavy instrumentation provides a plush bed for seductive female vocals before giving way to a tremendous bass break that is certain to leave dancers in a sweat. reverently mastered and spread over a wide-grooved 12-inch single, it s another meu sure-shot.

laconic phrases are all about less words and more sense. we use the same principles in our stripped down grooves which are released on fresh imprint - laconica. its all about minimalistic dance-floor tools which were tested in different clubs around the world, from kyiv s closer to concrete in paris.
for a debut ep, label founder alex pervukhin presents 3 different grooves. on the a-side you can find hommie groove, which is an excellent example of a broken-beat house music with good-old airy juno pads. on b side there are two 4/4 tools: bb, which could be heard in varhat’s mix for concrete which was so hyped last year. aa is a peak-time killer with analogue chords and jackin bassline. strong minimalistic grooves - exactly what laconica is all about.

the first release in the crime combo series, in collaboration with the beat records company and for the fisrt time on vinyl, is the soundtrack to the italian polizziottesco movie italia a mano armata. the movie was directed in 1976 by franco martinelli. the soundtrack is an excellent strength test by maestro composer franco micalizzi that for this movie has created a varied and passionate score, tapping the wind sections into an irresistible seventies funk crescendo and alternating melodic themes. the soundtrack feature the track the no-peace pursuit that was later on selected by quentin tarantino for his grindhouse movie death proof. if you love 70ies crime soundtracks, this is a must for your collection! the soundtracks is released in a hand numbered 500 copies limited edition 180 gram vinyl in gatefold sleeve including the original cinema poster.

a go-to producer for many dj’s, his techno is definitely a force to be reckoned with, on the dance floor and his signature haunting atmospheres and pounding basslines leave a lasting impression.
tracks created for the release hold their own individual place in any set. from the intensity of buran to the slick movement of magnetized, the full track list has been tried and tested with excellent response throughout.

rhythm&soul s just groove it label has been excelling in its first year of operations, serving as a vehicle for the paris-based producer to air his own productions while drawing good friends into the fold. following on from chris carrier s appearance on the previous 12-, this time around ben rau has been invited to join in, and the resulting two tracks are testament to the strength of the collaboration. -the long tomorrow- is funky as hell, keeping the swing levels high and using a crafty set of minimal sounds to create movement. -we can do it like that- takes a deeper route, using dubby production methods to create an immersive treat for the dancefloor.

ss004 fuses 128 bpm house and techno with elements of uk bass, while taking cues from cajmere and chicago. brawther:excellent release 5/5 definitely a record that will stand the test of time.

the first world unknown 12 inch of 2012 is a double header of throbbing midtempo techno and as with all world unknown releases from now on both tracks have been mastered for vinyl from ½ inch tape for maximum sonic excellence. on side w semtek from dont be afraid joins forces with his afterparty alter-ego chardonnay and a certain rather well known og hipster poet on >tacos for dinner<, an extremely modern and massively psychedelic trip into the outer mind. this clicking, bleeping, fizzing and throbbing ten minute excursion has been road tested from acetate by andy blake for many months and always sends the club somewhere very special and ever so slightly scary. on side u scott fraser delivers >remains the same<. its a notch or two less pacey than side w but no less powerful or psychedelic. its earthy vibe and pounding, throbbing tones have been part of andrew weatheralls sets for some time now and its not hard to see why. when the full percussion finally comes crunching in like a breakbeat on top of the ever-present heavyweight bassline its disco pandemonium time. in short, possibly the best 12 inch so far from wu.

after some time spent entertaining from distant lands, the circus company brings it all back home with a release purposefully written to pay tribute to the breeding ground for their unique strain of house music, paris. seuil stands proud as one of her most cherished creations, a man ever evolving as an artist from the structure and function of minimalist dancefloor music through to the esoteric expression and ambience of jazz, channelling that same swinging spirit that has characterised much of the work on circus company. the release of his -chamaeleonidae- album proved to the world that there was a strange musical spirit in seuil that manifested itself in live drums and languid keys, character traits you could associate with his fellow parisians dop. the collaborations between them have been many in recent years, and once again they come together to both complement and test each others styles in a surprising vision of what pop music could sound like if crafted with soul and imagination. the beats stay tight and steady throughout the three tracks that make up -fluctuat nec mergitur-, driving a foggy brew of strings, synths and drones into a commanding groove. meanwhile the composition gently rises and falls on waves of melody, as particular harmonies swell in to carry you away to a very blue kind of euphoria. such drama and passion captures the essence of both seuil and his beloved city in one heady brew of dancefloor excellence.

truly beautiful deep house records are things to be treasured, akin to proper songs that will last the test of time, not made to meet a fleeting fad. this is one of those records and a real pinnacle & departure for blm & pawas. although the term deep is an oft overused one, >waiting game< personifies the genres true key traits with a subtly moving groove that gradually builds, using layers of subtle percussion and a rich, warm synth motif to make a rich tapestry of sounds before finally introducing the beautiful female vocal that gives the track its name. patrice scott liked the track so much that he agreed to remix it - his first ever outside of his own, excellent, sistrum label. using plenty of the original track parts but taking it a different direction, patrice really has come up with something special. the track moves along with snippets of the main vocal and clever use of the main synth, the groove being underpinned by patrice s classic sense of production before moving into a more classic >detroit< ending - a mindset with a bigger, more dramatic sensibility

alan fitzpatrick is a producer who has been making everyone sit up and take notice since his first appearance on the scene a little over 18months ago. with various outings on fergies excentric music label, and his own 8 sided dice imprint and forthcoming records on the seminal bedrock records, alan is without doubt the rising star of dance music with his cross genre sound. and if that wasnt enough here is the first outing on adam beyers mighty drumcode! adam, who is unbelievably fussy and purveyor of nothing but absolute quality, snapped up this two tracker instantly – a testament to alans awesome sound. both >statix< and >rubix< are earthshakingly good. both hard and funky, but at the same time extremely versatile, and will be excellent mixing tools and big records in ther own right. the kind of records that never leave the box. get it..

markantonio and joseph capriati, attack tested couple of this european label, leading to sign yet another triple. pressing groove, tracks full of pathos spaced out by breaks and restarts breathtaking, an innovative and excellent quality techno sound for 1000 volts by markantonio and capriati. and if the atmosphere was not yet hot enough, here you molotov, a redhot release, characterized by rhythmic discharges of low, avantgarde melodies and funkhypnotic sounds, a real bomb to set fire even more to the coldest dancefloors!

as label boss gilbert says about this new versatile outing: i:cube is a prolix producer : some weeks, the cube used to bring me 4 or 5 outlines tracks, always amazing ! i played them sometimes in my dj sets, or shared them with my producers friends. there was always a nerd to ask me what is it… few years later, i decided to compile these unfinished -or not wanted to be released by the artist- tracks in a new versatile collector serie : >les archives cubistes<. re-edited for some, released without modification for others, they show the evolution of this amazing producer, who explores since a decade different styles but always with his typical sound. for this first volume, two techno tracks. deep end, composed in 1999, could be a >news of the week< as it sounds so current… latecala (under maurizio influence) was composed in 2000, to test a new studio gear (a multi effect)… versatile, some years after, delivers you the result. a few 12inch will follow… in different styles. be aware! limited pressing and special artwork by the excellent designer >machine< !
