utter presents rgbpm, trevor jackson s four piece audio-visual work originally commissioned for a live performance at the optronica festival in 2007, on london s imax, the biggest screen in the uk. optronica, programmed by addictive tv/cinefeel in collaboration with the british film institute, held its second festival over five consecutive days at the imax, ica and bfi southbank in march 2007. a showcase of the most exciting talent working in visual music, optronica s 2007 event was a platform for live performances, talks, screenings and workshops from the likes of fennesz, peter greenaway and ryoichi kurokawa. jackson s piece took over six months to develop and yet was performed only once. on march 14th the premier of rgbpm opened the festival in spectacular fashion, jackson performing the music live with its accompanying hd visuals generated in real time using custom-built software created especially by weirdcore. a powerful multi-sensory experience, the event remains one of the defining moments of jackson s lengthy career. the visuals consist of abstract shapes synchronised perfectly to jackson’s soundtrack. choreographed to represent musical elements within each track, they explore the relationship between melody, colour, rhythm and form. the diverse soundtrack combines magical motorik experiments, demented acidic jams, melodic subterranean techno and dark discordant electronic soundscapes. it s a timeless selection of music that holds its own to this day. a decade on from rgbpm s lone airing, utter is proud to release all four parts together for the first time as a special 12- package, mastered and cut by helmut erler at d&m and housed in a sleeve designed by jackson himself.

b2 – frieder blume – we play for love - frieder sounds like those worldly-wise professionals that definitely know there business. but in fact its his first track on vinyl and we all can imagine what this guy will sound like in a few years. we play for love builds and builds and builds and culminates in a climax… bam! rewind please…

these hand-picked tracks are now available on a dj-friendly 2-sided-4-tracks-vinyl-ep and let me tell you, they are well worth the extra investment. the first of the bunch starts off with big man lexys fancy girl, an ever-growing minimal techy peak-time-pusher with a hushed vocal-sample, some anaologue signal sounds and a futuristic and pumping beat. add a great distorted melody to this on the breakdown and the dancefloor will thank you for putting this on: they will go mental! after this introduction, its the newcomers mickey monzza & joseph discos turn with their equally stimulating track lonely. this is a great modern piece of pumping dub techno with a straight-forward attitude. the hi-hats on this tune are mesmerezing, the clappy snares and sirens perfectly placed and the subtle dubby and groovy melody an ideal antithesis to this hectically moving tune. simply nice! but hold on, there is more to come. on the flip there is hamburgs house impressario h.o.s.h. with his track ben johnson and whether this title is a reference to the legendary sportsman or not, its a pretty record-worthy track: wonderful little stabs and vocal sounds and a bassline so warm and groovy it makes your heart melt. then when the breakdown hits you with its long and winding signal sound, the dancefloor will already be bathing in a floor filled with sweet happiness. this is truely delicious! the two newcomers and residents at hive club in zurich animaltrainer have the honour to finish off this ep with their oily tech-house-anthem talkshow, a superb main-floor-peak-time-melody-affair.

dispel dances die meinungsmacher vom britischen fact mag schrieben einmal: -wir wissen nicht viel ueber anstam. niemand tut das. das ist teil des besonderen.- anstam waren einmal ein duo, bestehend aus zwei bruedern. jetzt ist anstam eine one man-show eines medienkunsstudenten aus berlin. noch als duo haben sie eine legendaere underground 12 inch serie veroeffentlicht, die ueber den berliner kultplattenladen hardwax vertrieben wurde. diese vinyltrilogie wurde in hoechsten toenen gelobt und mit den technoiden autechre im post industrial dubstepkleid umschrieben. nach einer zweijaehrigen pause begann anstam in diesem jahr - als solo act - auf 50 weapons mit neuer musik erneut aufmerksamkeit zu erregen. nicht zuletzt auch die von radiohead saenger thom yorke, der kurzerhand anstam tracks chartete, im radio spielte, was kuerzlich auch in einem anstam remix fuer radiohead gipfelte. anstam wei§ auch als live act zu ueberzeugen, wie z.b. hierzulande beim melt! festival. -dispel dances-, das ueberfaellige debuetalbum, wird in den kommenden monaten auf zahlreichen weiteren gigs live praesentiert.
