limited repress due to high demand on requests. eating records was born in the brussels underground scene, inspired by the idea of synthesizing two different horizons to get a beautiful concept. in the beginning it was simply the need to go back to roots and try to connect with the present and future, but eventually it ended up with a modern groovy label. the first release of the label was not that easy to find. the eclectic worlds of the two members did not really help them. but that was until they found jr from dallas - a talented dj producer from lille, owner of gourmand music recording - maybe food is the key... who knows ? jr has always been a forward-moving artist, but his music cannot - and should not - be mapped linearly. after releasing on labels as farris wheel recordings and greenhouse recordings, he had nowhere to go but backward for his new ep on eating records to its 90 old school beats and hypnotizing basses. phonical deep is gorgeous and evocative all the same. technival is stylish enough, and it is as restlessly creative as you would expect. it is followed by the hypnotic and beautiful remix of jay bliss of phonical deep - the eps final track. the fact is, jay bliss has managed to create something so refreshingly unique that trying to categorize and label his remix is rather dubious. he transformed the original melodic part to a blissful pad embellished with a repetitive rhythm spiced with tiny subtle details. it is easier to see this remix as the backbone of electronic music - simple and repetitive but never boring.

having previously turned out some refined club tracks for friendly neighbourhood label banoffee pies, christian jay comes to idle hands for his debut solo 12inch. as revealed in our past support of artists such as i.a. bericochea and matt karmil, an appreciation of the finer end of the minimal house and techno spectrum weighs heavy at idle hands hq, and christian embodies everything good about the micro-genre. the stylistic approach on this single is consistent across both tracks, fusing shuffling, 2-step fuelled drum patterns with blissful atmospheric content in a most natural of ways. on 117 this manifests in a more flamboyant end result peppered with playful hi-hat tones and delicate melodic licks, while on contrail the mood is resolutely low-end focused with some choice bass touches in amongst the tightly wound funk of the beat. what makes jay s efforts stand out is their immersive finish, using dexterous doses of dub processing to create a quintessentially bristolian mood while retaining the razor-sharp edges of upfront european minimal. its a tone that speaks to limbering up at the start of the party, or shaking down deep into the morning. that said, we could listen to this all day and night.

a side track ‘’1840&#8242,’ (feat. contrapunct) is the result of taking a violin built by jean-baptiste vuillaume in the year 1840, played by our in-house virtuoso now known as contrapunct and making a sample kit / sound kit with it yes, this means all the sounds you hear on this song are sourced from an old and beautiful violin. using original recordings combined with different manipulation techniques, the trio deliver to the plate over 12 minutes of intensity. one can explain it like this perhaps……….. you are high in the blue sky walking a high wire over an ocean of beautiful coral reef, still maintaining balance, but looking down at the view beneath and thinking- “if i got to go- there cannot be much better ways!

the rawkers ep…more than 10 years after the release of cassius first album, the duet comes out with a 6 tracks project that mustn’t have left a lot of people whove listened to it indifferent. well, if there are two people who appreciated the ep, it is jay-z & kanye west, aka the throne, who sampled the famous i <3 uso on their track why i love you, turning it into an absolute popular anthem. if the former album of the band was a tribute to adolescence, here it is more about the earliest days of ours, as the song les enfants (children) depicts it. to such an extent that the rawkers ep sounds like a gigantic playground, full of joy and happiness. were glad to repress this record and to give you an opportunity to escape through this enchanting opus, before cassius new album is released.

the true definition of a “rare-groove”, “windy city theme” is a triumphant, funky paean to the spiritual home of the blues, jazz and house music. often closely guarded by the rare record cognoscenti this scarce 45 on the chi sounds label was originally released in 1976 and became a solid staple of london’s underground rare-groove scene, finding favour with dj’s like norman jay and giles peterson with the track even appearing on their groundbreaking “journeys by dj” mix. b-side cut “show me the way” is not to be overlooked either, a smooth, stepping soul number with lush orchestration and yearning vocals featuring the amazing arrangements of the chi-sound orchestra, sounding like a beautiful cross between mfsb and marvin gaye. an utterly essential 45 for any serious soul or funk fan, legitimately repressed and remastered with love on dinked 45 for 2016.

its not often you get to work with vocalists of sarah jay s calibre (massive attack/presence) so here at pft we decided to enlist some heavyweight talent to make the most of this opportunity. kicking off the second ep we have the one and only rob mello (classic/defected/crosstown rebels) on remix duties

over the past several years, j(ay).a.d has released several eps touching on footwork, dubstep, grime and dancehall, approaching dance music with a wide open lens that tends to blur accepted genre lines. a bjork co-sign earlier last year jettisoned the amsterdam-based artist into the popular consciousness. raised in suriname, j(ay).a.d is the consummate dance music outsider and despite living in amsterdam, his music hardly ever fits in with the citys house and techno hegemony. the ogri ai ep is very much a blueprint record, simultaneously paranoid and dark, its seeped in industrial dread and natural beauty. and while many of j(ay).a.ds contemporaries attempt to create more alien sounding music at the expense of a human element, the ogri ai ep has been a overlooked milestone for the hybrid footwork & grime realm, and its now back on re-stock.

jay lumen, one of the most quickly developing producers and known for his dynamic, pulsating grooves and pleasant vocalic tunes is back again on 100% pure. after having caused mayhem with his eleven earlier releases, he has proven to be labelled as one of the most famous and internationally appreciated artists of the electronic dance scene.
