originally released on the seminal london housing benefit imprint,straight out of swag records many labels, swag classics 003 is the work of eddie richards and gideon jackson. since its 2001 debut the ‘a side biscuit barrel blues has steadily become what you might call a bonafide, 100% kosher tech house classic. delighting clued up clubbers the world over with its laid back, but strangely compelling, effortlessly driving groove, its a track thats grown in stature with each passing year. the other side pull tab to open (bit of a fast food theme going on here) is another dance floor gem in the original tech house style. now available again on vinyl for the first time in 17 years.

not only gideon is a friend but on top of that he is a seriously talented artist. gideon bouwens present here 2 slices of life stories, done with groove, love and passion. that’s seriously all we need. a true and honest ep for those of you out there who like their grooves to be irresistible.

a1. >everybody techno< - this is typical of gideons dance floor techno style, thick beats with a marching bass-line. from the first beat we are guided through a tough no-holds-barred trip into an unforgiving world of the darker sides of techno music. a retrospective vocal with a sinister laugh completes this evil peak-time track.
a2. >flight to right now< - this minimal track snaps along with a very basic beat and synth combo. the synth rises as the track progresses to keep dance floors moving. there is a wonderfully simple aspect to this track that gets under the skin and allows people to really connect with it.
b1. >recession tool< (vocal mix) - recession tool is a chunky tech house track with a wonderfully chewed up vocal and ever-present reverse snares. the track pumps forward until a nice rising breakdown lifts to complete with more vocals and intricate drum loops.
b2. >rico< - rico is a long progressive track with a slow builds and a warped lead line. the least aggressive track on the ep and possibly the least expressive. that said, it still ticks along seamlessly with a perfectly crafted warble and smart drums.

minimalplus 004 with label head gideon known from his work on sino (hong kong), kanzleramt (berlin), lessismorecordings, anticlub, southern comfort, grayarea. after his first release on his own imprint minimalplus which got big plays he is back. this time in a collaboration with revolve. this edition brings 2 tracks floating between minimal and techno. we are the sound of the underground (m version) is a minimalistic dj tool with a pumping groove, that may remind a little like the early days of minimal, when it was still straight forward and effective. we are the sound of the underground (t version) is more techno minded version of the title track, with its shuffle and huge drive, it is sure to move the more underground dance floors.

writing tracks for kanzleramt is not the only task, what keeps gideon hommes busy. he runs his own label lessismore recordings and is also having a 12inch single out on sino soon this year. the young talent is also throwing the famous anticlub-parties in his hometown eindhoven and all over the netherlands. but therewith not enough: gideon signed up for another 12inch, followed by a full length album (2xlp/cd) in the second half of 2008 on kanzleramt.

lessismore record label, founded in 2003 by the dutch dj and producer alexis tyrel together with mbc, has been home for mostly his own releases under all his monikers and various artist compilations. “return to planet alpha” continues in this tradition, being a second long-player of alexis tyrel after his debut “newtradition” from 2011.
“return to planet alpha” is a collection of elegant techno tracks which instead of following the now so popular dark and destructive path focuses on daily moods and airy atmosphere, which is closer to open air and lounge than to sweaty pits of contemporary rave. but that doesn’t mean that the twelve tracks are just indistinctive background music. for one thing, tyrel is a master of slick and tight beat foundations of kick drums and bass, often smoothed out with cool synth pads, onto which he layers all kinds of rhythmical chains, subtle melodic ideas and sounds ranging from vintage synths and industrial bits to organic textures and even field recordings.
