following a run of local transmissions from a sagittariun, crump, rob smith and atki2, idle hands turns its attention to berlin and the straight-up, no-nonsense techno thrust of johanna knutsson and hans berg. both respected artists and djs in their own right, the pair have been turning out 12inches together for the free spirit society, klasse and crime city disco over the past few years, but most importantly they ve been steering the excellent ufo station recordings as a vessel for their punchy, primal techno tracks. the sound on this ep taps into the pure form of stern, dark dancefloor tackle favoured at idle hands – no extraneous filler, plenty of space in the mix, but equally built with warmth and personality rather than monochrome functionality. if you need further proof, just look to the fact the ep is named after a swedish soap opera from the 90s. the bleeps and bass tones that pulse through -taggen- are so finely crafted they need not skip and dance around the arrangement. the melodic interplay on -klimax- is subtle but ultimately uplifting and optimistic where so much techno concerns itself with oppressive gloom. -bimbo- finds the pair embracing a more psychedelic approach, but even here the modulating effects processes are kept within certain boundaries so as to not dilute the impact on the floor. after all, this is music to dance to, to be felt over a large system (where possible). moving from leftfield bass excursions to minimalist 2-step, uk techno and now onto this much more continental sound, themälarviken ep continues to widen the range of idle hands musical tastes without losing sight of the complete picture.

this summer will mark the celebration of 5 years for power plant: its more than a label, its also a bold artistic offshoot for la fleur and the artists she nurtures in her electronic garden. and in 2016, those artists include circo loco residents acid mondays, the super-talented jesper ryom, knutsson/berg with acid nord and hot pp newcomer justin massei, who chooses to diss ya. and then of course theres la fleur herself, who offers up the soulful caged exclusively to the power plant 5 years compilation as a reminder of her developing melodic yet underground sound. limited vinyl edition comes with exclusive cover with cut out logo on inside out paper sleeve with matt disco sleeve inside.

hans berg and johanna knutsson return to the ufo station with their fourth release, a powerful trippy trip, through warped time and space. and guess who was waiting for them at the station? well,none other than fellow space traveller dungeon acid, who delivers a remix that just might knock your space pants off. the title track alien power is obviously inspired by the quantum fusion core phase shift warp power engine that drives the ufo station, a steady beat to keep you on the right side of the force, whereas the dungeon acid remix is a musical interpretation of the great warp speed interdimensional flux mishap of the year 2216. the track dubby is so named because it inherently describes the core feeling of the track! alien choirs and synched synths meet long delay lines in this dreamy piece.

the second tape on legowelt s nightwind records cassette series. through his remote viewing powers danny wolfers channeled the music of saab knutson of faroe islands circa 1993. 60 minutes of nordic ambient with a disturbing undertone of dark melancholia with vague notions of distant happiness. saab knutson is a man with many issues, but on the faroe islands there is no time for issues. to stay of sound mind, saab plays his synthesizers in the few spare hours he manages to find, unmistakenly influenced by faroe s spellbinding landscapes and grim climate. though danny has never been to the islands he has a definite puzzling calling to them, a luring force, so to speak. hopefully he will sell enough saab knutson albums so he can fund an expedition and find out more about this mysterious destiny... played on yamaha dx100, roland jx3p, alpha juno 2, emu 16 bit digital sampling keyboard. ruby metallic cassette tape in luxurious faux plastic case

johanna knutsson and hans berg s second output from their ufo station recordings is a piece of inspiriting space techno. music that reduces the force of gravity and makes your feet feel light and springy. music that makes you lift your head and gaze dreamily out the panorama windows as glittering melodies trickle down your spine, making you shudder with pleasure. a record overflowing with profound yet tender caresses of sound from the alien duo that will light up dance floors all across the galaxy.

365 million years ago a meteorite crashed with tremendous force in the middle of a land mass that much later would be called sweden, creating one of her largest lakes. the area around this lake, siljan, has always been an epicenter of swedish folklore, with many tales of beautiful but dangerous creatures of the ancient forests and deep vales. perhaps, then, it s no coincidence that the skies over siljan later became the focus of unexplainable sightings, or that small societies appeared, claiming strong indications of extraterrestrial activities on the bottom of the lake itself. the tales may change over time, but the mysterious lake remains the same. and now the time has come for a new tale from siljan. producer colleagues hans berg and johanna knutsson have spent long periods of time in a studio by this lake. feeling a bit like aliens themselves with their blinking and bleeping music machines, the label name ufo station recordings came naturally. little raver ep is the first release, and throughout the three tracks you can clearly sense the contrast between the scenic landscape and sounds inspired by space and alien technology: shimmering ethereal melodies over classic, very fulfilling drum machines. the melancholic singing of space whales over deep and bubbly analog basses. the little raver ep is a house music ufo destined to arouse wonder and astonishment on any dance floor.

first runners out from the free spirit society s newly moved berlin-establishment is johanna knutsson & hans berg. being the title-track of this 2-track 12inch, i buy pink sheet is just as funky and loveable as imaginable, a mechanical jacking housegroove surrounded with bits of melodic techno elements. rabbithole takes you down a more narrow and deeper path filled with expectations.

johanna knutsson and fellow swede hans berg are finally back on board and bringing a fantastic new release to klasses schedule. donka/mosquitoes is a wonderful work of melodic techno and features remixes from bristol native, october and bass culture/kontra regular joel alter
