fifty first recordings was created in 1994 out of a small but very productive studio in london called state 51 using the down time and the very talented engineers who had been brought together for state 51 s existing clients. state 51 was the go to studio for the likes of x-press 2, sharp, amalgamation of soundz. the engineers we worked with included mark woolford, james brown, james reynolds & mark yardley. fifty first recordings soon found a name for itself and was very quickly at the forefront of the new generation of uk garage music. we produced and released music in the 90s, for over 7 years, with the likes of tuff jam etc. and later went to develop other imprints such as konnect / test press / unda vybe / spread love / tick etc., some in partnership with producers and managed artists.

incl michael gray remix !! splittr is the meeting of minds of martijn ten velden and mark yardley (from stanton warriors fame), two of modern dance musics biggest production heavyweights. as splittr, mark and martijn combine their collective skills and tastes to produce a dance/rock hybrid (new order infected guitar part) and a very fresh take on electronic music. in fact they started the project to give them the opportunity to split awayfrom any preconceptions people may have of them and any musical restrictions dance music genres can create. their first release, >all alone< (which sees mark take on vocal duties), has already created an underground buzz, with pete tong playing it on almost a weekly basis from the start of the year, regular spot plays on radio1 and major support coming from the likes of roger sanchez and deep dish. splittr are clearly set to take their sound worldwide
