if someone had to describe the sixth release from pascal feos album >synaptic< with one word, >bassline< would be the one that fits. the a side >ausklang< is dominated by a sawtooth >bassline< which modulates more and more to reach her climax shortly before the break. the b page >stargazer< begins with a techno groove to change later by a charmingly lascivious >bassline< into a nice floating tune. as a bonus we have on b2 a nice >acid bassline< , which reminds of that man from the >jackcity<, regarding to the title > mr f <.

almost otherworldly in its vastness and serene beauty, many musicians have drawn from the well of inspiration that is arizona’s sonoran desert, but few are quite as accomplished or prolific as steve roach. an ambient pathfinder and electronic innovator, his back catalogue as vast as those breathtaking vistas – sonic renderings of arid landscapes littered with saguaro cacti are found in good company alongside didgeridoo-focused experiments and ethereal drifts that navigate the event horizon, between the brilliance of space and a black abyss.
reminiscent of philip glass’ minimalism and the kosmische stylings of tangerine dream, ‘skeleton keys’ seemed to fall somewhere between the two. conjuring expansive meditations amongst the impossible tangle of wires that dangle from his apparatus, roach opens portals from the grand canyon state into a cluster of newborn stars with intricate, intelligent sequencing and modular synthesis.
recorded between 2005 and 2015 from roach’s famed timeroom and timehouse studios, the album was fully realized through advancements in technology, specifically, synthesizers.com’s large format analog modular sequencer. organic, fluid and intuitively kneaded into his spooling soundscapes, it’s now to be committed to cassette for the first time, bridging the synaptic gap with a new ‘expanded’ version that elongates the original 74-minute duration.

“homoheterogeneity”, originally released in january 2015, is the debut album from raccoglimento parziale, the duo formed by andrea giachetti and stefano meucci (the clover, silent people). in eight dense tracks, the album builds piece by piece an arcane language, made up of electromechanical beats, powerful basses, digitized guitars and broken samples, assembled in a liquid and fluctuating atmosphere. “homoheterogeneity” is a microscope’s view, a revealing blow-up over a cloud of microsounds, sometimes digital, sometimes organic. it’s a discovery of new life forms, homo/heterogeneous to our eyes - and to our ears. delivered on vinyl 33 rpm and mastered by frank merritt at the carvery in london, the album boasts on the cover the experimental photographic work of sandro crisafi, who visually recreated in the darkroom the chemistry that connects these fluctuating sounds.

minimood extra s forthcoming release is a vinyl only, red 12- affair that features two novel reworks of dub techno wizard david hausdorf s legendary salo release space walk . germany s david hausdorf has been turning out expertly crafted deep techno since the late nineties. he did so on labels like synaptic waves as well as styrax leaves, and in 2002 served up his classic space warehouse found! last copies ever.. walk on the epic berlin based imprint salo. first up is the 2015 version. it is a ten minute piece of heady, hypnotic techno with soft rubber drums, gently propulsive percussion and icy high-hats that add a real sense of scale and depth to the track. with slick boom- bap bite in the claps and hits, this is the sort of expertly reduced track that will lock dance floors in for hours. then comes the 2015 reshape, which again makes full use of its 10 minute length. there is a little more edgy reverb in this one, the drums are more upright and the pads are a little more rippling and rolling. it s a liquid groove as a result, and one that is near faultless for the way it rolls on and on without any friction.

lybes dimem is a project by visual artist and musician lukas rehm. with elaborate beat structures and the use of error, the music plays with cognitive phenomena and abstraction while maintaining an emotional refuge. lybes dimem is presented in formats ranging from spatial sound experiences to synesthetic shows complementing the auditive layers with visualizations of realtime data, computer graphics and moving image. lukas rehms installative art, and compositions have been internationally presented and awarded with multiple emerging arts prices. syncleft chronem is the first album released by lybes dimem in both digital and vinyl for-mat and accompanied by a moving image artwork. the title reflects the projects interest in the potential of difference, cognitive frictions and exertion: sync variability in the processing of auditive and visual signals, syncleft the synaptic cleft, which is a crucial empty spa- ce in biological neural networks, chronem the chroneme as a theoretical unit to measure the time of an articulated sound. mathematically clean sounds juxtapose patterns and transitions familiar from the realm of organic acoustics. multi-layered noise textures ex- plore the simulated space. a tem- porary continuity is provided by percussive and melodic elements, right until the next escalation, eventually awaiting a concluding resolution. the visual language explores different phenomena and techniques of cognition inspired by the rhetorics of big science (computer graphics, discontinuity of material, pop cultural references).

on the a side you will find sexy drummachines,the casio rz and the electribe mx1 getting in a wild penetration mode called -oldskool madness-, the electribe pushing deep garage chords in this banging beats and the casio rz-1 still jacking sharp as knife ! on the b side the slammin jack charmed the westerwäldersaw-tooth-tiger-beat from the japanese laserdose, a magnetic noise in anxious beats on epic breaks, a synaptic massage also for the headbangerballet and for all other ravers a whopping meal !

the fourth release from audiofugitives recordings (au004) comes from jonathan torrico and his schizolectric project! with this ep called >encephalogram< it seems that schizolectric explores the electrical activity of the brain through the sounds in six tracks that will transport you to an obscure hypnotic tunnel with atmospheric, subterranean and pure electronic soundscapes. superb release, check it out for yourself. limited copies!
