datassette aka john davies has been recording music for over a decade, carving out a niche as a respected purveyor of electro and electronica. he has recorded and self-released an impressive discography from cd-r, net-labels and small independents, but it was his album for ai records in 2008 that first brought him to our attention. he has also remixed the likes of röyksopp, mark archer and al tourettes. datassette continues apollos tradition of releasing rich, musical electronica and follows on nicely from classic releases from the likes of robert leiner, biosphere, david morley and andrea parker.

small craft on a milk sea entstand aus brian enos vorliebe für soundtracks, die er anfang der 1970er für sich entdeckte und anderer musik vorzog. in zusammenarbeit mit den beiden jungen komponisten/musikern leo abrahams und jon hopkins entstand dabei ein werk voller sinnlichkeit, intimität und mystik, ausgedrückt mit den möglichkeiten und freiheiten moderner elektronischer musik. dabei kristallisieren sich die stücke mehr aus improvisation statt komposition und wirken für sich alleine gesehen wie das spiegelbild eines stummfilms - wie filme, die nur aus klang bestehen: klangfilme! damit reiht sich brian enos soundkosmos wie von selbst ein in die releasereihe des kultlabels warp, speziell zu dessen electronic listening klassikern aus den 1990ern
