professional youth club terms another fine 2track ep from label owners sevensol & bender. with kann 21 both again renew their status as trusty soldiers of rhythm and atmosphere, while reconfirming their own trollig – sentiment even though the obvious glimpse is addressed to never ending dance floors.

finally, kann headquarter duo sevensol & bender bring out a new ep. both tracks unite the labels perception of contemporary and personal dance music. again, they perform with a dreamy and harmonic sense for rhythm and express what house music means to them. if you understand the record as a pretentious instruction of >how not to lose things<, you have to find out yourself. kann firmly believes

in 2011 some berlin based recordshops try to reclaim the streets with the so called >record store day< for the first time in germany. also kann was asked for a limited vinyl to support their concern. on that specific occasion we bring a new two track ep except for the regular series. kann rsd breaks ranks with an extra beautiful edit of the awesome witchwaver sunglitters, composited by nuremburgs essay. b-side builts back the bridge to the label and gives finally >aperture< from sevensol & bender the appropriate space. the track was originally released on kann00 in 2008. for the artwork kann is pretty happy to won over famed – a chummy art collective – for doing an impressing independent work.

‘family horror x good times’ is an extensive 15 tracks compilation, where the leipzig label reflects on an intense and impassioned decade. kann asked close friends and long time idols to play their part to the full to complete the third edition of the label’s family horror compilation series. the outcome is a clear snapshot of the musical inclinations of the three label founders, sevensol & map.ache (aka manamana) and bender, encapsulating an idiosyncratic, modern house sound that demands an emotional response. the compilation comes rounded off by a booklet of photographs from ria aka lux which just like the music captures some of the beautiful ‘good times’ from this very special period, this time on paper.

mana all nite #4 contains personal favourites, killer edits and tracks from across 3 decades. (a1 previously released on klang elektronik in 1999). this selection is a fine roundup of what’s been shaking manamana aka map.ache & sevensol over the past 10 years of dj-ing & hanging out together.

after almost two years “things from the basement” are back with another very patient contribution for kann. next to their very intimate and minimalist original jams the 6 tracker includes three different dancefloor focused remix approaches from sevensol, map,ache & polo. the label’s final record of 2016 consists of a wide ranging musical package, all tracks are sorted by genres but unified in the same vibe.

paskal & urban absolutes are celebrating the release of their debut album lux (released in november 2013) with a big bash, encompassing a special remix package and with an illustrious group of liked minded peers. same as with their own work credo of cross-city collaborating (paskal aka alex lives in berlin, urban absolutes aka adrian lives in essen) the twosome assembled half of germany for the first, now available 12inch of the lux remixes.

studio bruno is the joint project of johannes beck as well as his friend musicians and producers. the concept of studio bruno is based on a one week stay at studio bruno in an old farmhouse in steigerwald, franconia, a lovely nature park in north bavaria, where each musician invited brings a machine or an instrument of his choice. the focus of that week is the common producing and live improvising.for the first record steffen bennemann (nachtdigital) and sevensol (kann) were invited. sevensol brought his tr-707, his monotron delay and steffen bennemann came with his field recorder. the result of this one-week session is a deep house track with a distorted synth line and a krautrock-slash-funky jazz track!

ok, first of all i want to reveal a myth: these infotexts are mostly writtenby the labelowners themselves, not by hard-working editors. so what happens, when the guy behind a label releases his own music? well, either he is a well-organised deadline-machine and he asks somebody capable of doing this stupid job, or he realizes:

this ep marks a newbeginning in my career. since some time now, >the fog burns off< and we get more and more stable in the buisness. last year we were on the road quite a bit and we found many new friends. people from other cities, who believe in the same things, who do similar stuff and who are of the same kidney as we are. so that makes me very happy, which reflects in the music. for the first time i feel like coming home, although we are at the beginning of our journey into the industry yet.

lets give kitkaliitto a warm welcome! instantly impressed by these guys music we were – quite unique and not easy to classify. so this is their debut ep – coming straight from helsinki with love, three tracks and a remix. you can hear influences and samples from deep movie scores, downtempo, house, even big beat always escorted by some factor for self destruction. the remix of moravia by sevensol & bender shoves a rough house skeleton under tom pavlas fantastic trumpet – simple, raw and beautiful.

the music label kann was founded by map.ache (jan barich), sevensol (alex neuschulz) and bender (dennis knoof). kann will mainly release own music but also productions from varied artists. musically kann is defined by modern dance music but with an individual approach to the music. despite the label owners have different musical origins. kann wants to combine their unique styles to a common ground. kann compasses a freedom with lots of possibilities and individual profile at the same time. it creates the base of the creative work of all contributors who cannot keep their hands of music...everything kann!!!!
