keine ahnung was a quartet from w÷rth am rhein, germany formed in 1980. the original line up was rolf schmuck, franz h. rodenkirchen, elke fuchs and olaf schumacher. hermann kopp from stuttgart, a friend of the band, contributed a composition on their first lp and became a full member in 1985. taking cues from conrad schnitzler, tuxedomoon and dome, the band members shared a common interest in industrial, pop, avant garde literature and cinema. their controversial name translates to dont know or havent got a clue in german. the quartet would record three lps in 6 years, two of which remain unreleased.

a collection of tracks formerly released on 7 inch vinyl only by dance drugstore records in the netherlands. the original coloured 7 inch singles were released in the period from 1994 to 2000 in small limited editions quickly sold out around the world. check!

ein sommerlicher klanghappen für groove-gourmets, eine augenzwinkernde provokation für schubladendenker. rene bourgeois breitet zum tanz einen elektronischen rhythmusteppich von minimaler, jedoch kurzweiliger eleganz aus. was darauf geschieht, gleicht aber eher einem klassischen song. elke brauweiler verzaubert den zuhörer nämlich mit ihrem lieblich- verträumten gesang, der die stimmung von je danse prägt. nicht zu vergessen die unverkrampfte heiterkeit der irgendwo zwischen fahrstuhl- und filmmusik klimpernden melodie. mollono.bass trommelt seine organischen percussion-samples zusammen und treibt den akzent des originals subtil in richtung rhythmusanimation. und der deep in the club mix von dan caster und rene bourgeois erfüllt schließlich alle erwartungen, die man an einen titel mit solch einem namen hat. zwingender groove, hypnotische atmosphäre und dramatischer aufbau.

thank you have played with the likes of beach house, dan deacon, daniel higgs, celebration, wzt hearts and ponytail. thank you is an athletic rhythm/action unit, made up of jeffrey mcgrath, michael bouyoucas and elke wardlaw. michael was a member of the baltimore band more dogs who released an album on monitor records. the members of thank you are longtime friends and musical collaborators, working hard to bring to life their wholly original compositions. musical ideas are introduced and have conversations with one another, each track filled with new articulation and insight. the basics of drums, organ, and guitar build the foundation, but are augmented by whistles, cowbell, hobo harmonica, snappy loops, car horns, and whatever else might be at hand. the album terrible two was engineered by j. robbins (yeasayer, mary timony, jets to brazil) in baltimore and was produced and mixed by chris coady (tv on the radio, yeah yeah yeahs, celebration) in new york city.
