we would like to say it was all part of a big bombastic plan… the biggest selling bearfunk artist, a top song, the prague philharmonic, 40 piece strings and some great remixes all to celebrate bearfunks 50th release, but alas, it was not! bfk050 is actually the 67th single release on bearfunk. the strings were done in the lunch-break downtime of a session in prague with strings-chappie, john bryan. make good music and occasionally, just occasionally, good things happen to you! so the knife-edge karma of indie record labels flows.

fantastic four track balearic journey

peters love of obscure disco and house shows in this solo album - wide ranging influences have gone into the musical hot-pot. take the slo-mo lazy groove of lead track and opener love is the key . this sets the sonic palette, laid back, underground and understated (but cucumber cool) throughout. deliberately absent are the commercial and pseudo-poppy sounds from the visti and meyland 2010 debut. this record is a club affair, less in your face and more all around you . for example lost in space is one part elastic groove, one part melodious, enveloping ambience and one part progressive disco groove. tracks such as i m out the door , bubble bubble and drinking in darkness are more direct, straight dance floor booty-shaking grooves. as is what you would expect from the man who has dj stamped firmly into his dna.

phoreski, who was the first ever remixer for iib returns to remix >electric sunburst< from the harlyn bay lp, creating a heads down dirty balearic slo-mo basement monster as only he can. next up is tony watson from adult contempory / la who remixes >pacific breeze< adding a touch of west coast b-boy flair. peter visti takes on the not-yet-released track >childhood melody< creating an epic balearic journey starting fairly uptempo before changing gear to groove along at a more leisurely slomo speed. top quality as always. finally, and proving the boys have the jump on tomorrows stars early, the amazing & much sought after aeroplane rework of >too hard<, originally released in 2007. another all round top package.

lurifax aka peter visti is known for his love of balearic music. peter is now signed to eskimo recordings where his first ep >balearic love< was a favourite with djs such as todd terje, prins thomas and superstar dj tiga. following on from >balearic love<, mindless boogie released peter visti edits of >jolene<, which went on to be a balearic smash throughout the summer of 2007 and got playlisted by rob da bank on bbc radio one. now peter adopts a new guise as lurifax to drop his debut release for spacetalk records. >afro beach< takes the listener back to the glory days of the balearic scene of the late 80s and early 90s driven by a mellow groove and some choice recorder and accordion parts with hints of detroit in the bassline. on the flip, >need someone< is trademark peter visti, a languid mid-80s throbber that takes in a wonderful guitar solo. a worthy third release to follow on from the success of spacetalks first two releases from kaine and future beat alliance

when it comes to being a man of many talents there are few to equal richard norris. dj, producer, musician, audiovisual artist, a&r man, author and journalist, his is a career of many twists and turns which have always seen him at the forefront of pushing new ideas forward and championing diversity and innovation. as 2010 closes richard is focusing most of his energy based around three projects: beyond the wizards sleeve, the grid and the time and space machine
