ploy returns for his third solo timedance record, the 14th release on the label. the london producer is in absolute banger mode for this one, finding his stride with these frenetic gunfinga-ready assaults, both as fun and playful as they are playful and rude. artwork by danielle doobay.

after a first ep of the year from stl, the solar phenomena label now welcomes romania’s romansoff. the raw tools label boss hails from bucharest and has also released his gritty, stripped back house and techno on creme organization and sportiv. here he offers four new tracks, with one remix from timedance man ploy completing the package.
halo epitomises romansoff’s style with its slow, heavy drums and sparse, scattered perc sounds. a lo-fi melody adds colour, while coach jacket ups the ante with busier claps and crashing hits laid over a turbulent, unsettled bassline. increasing the pressure further, graded grows manic with punchy drums, layers of fuzzy synths and bass and distant cries that are dark and unsettling. ploy flips this one into a prickly and atmospheric drum track that keeps you on edge.

lithuanian artist pletnev debuts on sze with 3 tracks of ethno-techno, backed with a remix from ploy. having previously released on the likes of meda fury, bahnsteig23 and le temps perdu, the &#8203,,thrown furniture ep&#8203,, sees pletnev delve into the harder-edged side of his work.
the a-side features &#8203,,her cruel smile &#8203,,and thrown furniture, &#8203,,two acid fuelled workouts with a strong rhythmic pulse and those afro-tinged samples that are fast becoming a characteristic sound of the artist. the b-side kicks off with &#8203,,my first teacher, &#8203,,a creepy and slow burning trip that gets right under the skin. rounding off the release is a remix from ploy, coming off the back of his standout eps for hemlock and hessle audio, the remix is a dive headfirst into the distinctive sludgy sound of this young artist.

after a triumphant return to batu s timedance label with intrigued by the drum ploy keeps the pressure high on his new ep for hemlock. unruly exposes further light on the workings of his now signature style. waves of metallic percussion tessellate around a thumping central bassline. pneumatic flashes of noise seal a dense atmosphere full of equal parts euphoria and dread. garys is ploy s most stripped back and potent club tool yet, striding into proper techno territory, equipped and optimised for the highest yield. lost hours drops the beats and pumps out a thick fog of hazy chords and bellowing subs. perfect for after hours listening.
