after years sound tracking the dancehalls of bristol via their considered selections as djs, brotherly pair the kelly twins add label bosses to their cvs with the establishment of happy skull. the label kick offs in illustrious fashion with a collaborative release between two of bristols most interesting producers, kowton and hyetal. adopting the name systems of desire, the pair worked on a track together, before going off to produce their own individual versions entitled *control* and *consumption*, the results are exactly the intriguing cross between kowtons raw, crunchy, grime influenced techno and hyetal’s glistening synth work you would imagine.

we kick off 2011 with the latest collaborative plate of bristol-based build badness – label boss baobinga cooking up two what-do-you-call-it tracks with one of 2010s breakthrough producers, the man they call hyetal. starting 2010 with a huge punch drunk release alongside shortstuff, hyetal further refined his sound through collaborations with peverelist, and the massive prince-tastic anthem >phoenix< on orca – which can be found sitting proudly at number 36 in fact magazines tracks of the year run-down. with some big releases due in 2011, and more velour beats (with julio bashmore) on the way, we are very excited to have him involved in a build release.

after launching with the excellent systems of desire collaboration between kowton and hyetal, happy skull expand their remit with the introduction of a new artist. describing himself as a *caped conductor of a rusty, disobedient mechanical orchestra*, little is known about london based producer adjowa but his two original productions here hint that he wont remain unknown for long. accompanying adjowas original heat is a remix from premier eglo artist funkineven!

on christmas day, velour (comprising julio bashmore and hyetal) debuted their brilliant new single *speedway*, their first piece of new music since 2010s *the velvet collection ep*. the duo are now delighted to reveal speedways galactic b-side *dial* via julio bashmores own broadwalk records label.

with material from hyetal, bashmore, headhunter, joker and more in their discography, soul motive have established a reputation for seeking out the various strands of music blossoming both close by their bristol hq and far (cosmin trg has also featured on the label) arriving at their eleventh release soul motive further indulge the sounds of local talent coleco, a producer who contributed to one of the labels early, split releases and is now granted the full grip of a twelve inch. lead track >hypnagogia< takes its cue from the loose percussive style of shackleton, gradually weaving in a thumping half step groove and intoxicating layers of eastern strings - accomplished stuff! on the flip victoria klewin adds her floating, slightly saturated vocal tones to the galloping mysticism of >find me<.

if you thought we were spoiling you with the last build release (baobinga & hyetals joint 12, loved and played by pretty much everyone), then you should probably look away now. yep, once again, the game has been upped most thoroughly: build006 sees guido, one of the most original talents to emerge from the fertile bristol scene, team up with genre-blind bass-music badman (and label boss) baobinga, for another collaborative 12&#8243,,, of impeccable quality and taste… and of course, weird artwork.
