ghori from d-operation drop is a driving soundsystem roller with a low swung beat crushed through 80’s sci-fi algorithms and burnt onto analog tape. on the flip is natty coil, one of the crew’s most requested tracks, a masterful mix of organic bass and robotic shuffled hi hats from these mix scientists. d-operation drop are a crew from italy who gravitated around their love of bass, releasing music on labels such as artikal, lion charge, zam zam and moonshine, gaining support from the likes of j:kenzo, n type, bukez finezt, and dj madd.

d-operation drop is a 6-man crew from cesena, italy with a strong and growing catalog of sound system killers, from orthodox steppers to dubstep abstractions and strange hybrids of the two. recent releases on moonshine, artikal, and lion charge have cemented their position, and we are thrilled to invite them into the zamzam fold with two chunks of 140 weight. “warrior march” opens with a mesmerizing pad that immediately draws the unsuspecting into a unique soundworld and doesn’t let go til the runout groove. a smeared, chopping-block snare, deep subsonic rumblings, swung percussion, massed yet minimal horns make a darkly coiled track, menacing yet full of funk and movement. “sativa team” captivates just as deeply with fewer moving parts, loping drums and leaden percussion, churning bassline, chopped and glitched ja-voices and sound tape, and ominous, clipped horns that wobble with tape delay in a strange airless void. brooding yet cathartic, tripped out but fully physical, with both tunes d-operation drop display their total control over a restrained and powerful palette.

we are extremely happy to welcome yet another talented crew from italy in the moonshine family. d-operation drop is a project born in 2010 thanks to the encounter of 5 university students wich found themselves sharing the same house and more importantly, love for music (in 2013 zeemo joins the crew, modifying the formation from 5 to 6 elements). after a couple of early collaborations, almost casual, uniradio cesena gives to d-operation drop the chance to lay the foundations of an underground music program on air twice a week. thanks to this experience the group officially finds its frame and looks forward to its new goals such as producing, djving and vj’ing. to date d-operation drop, after almost seven years of experience, has received support from artists like j:kenzo, distance, n-type, icicle, radikal guru & many others. releasing music with notable labels such as lion charge, artikal music uk, subaltern and now moonshine recordings.

the berlin based imprint roundqube musik gets its 10th release. to celebrate this goal the label s guys have brought together the whole rqm familien dropping an eight track double vinyl: besides the usual suspects like francesco passantino, gabriele carasco, luca torre and sonartek, die familien grows with new friends such as the well known frankfuter producer matt star, jakob seidensticker (an element of wareika) in cooperation with boronas, the japanese talent kaitaro, enzo pietropaolo and the co-owner of the label i-max with blesgroove.

ritornell’s richard eigner & abby lee tee originally teamed up to provide the score for a collaboration with filmmaker andreea sasaran and illustrator katja seifert entitled »melting sphere«. sharing a passion for the combination of filigree electronics with playful timbres of diverse acoustic instruments and odd utensils, the cooperation of the two producers was a logical choice.
»melting sphere« merges subsonic bass, kalimba rhythms, accordion sounds and toy bells, all framed by eavesdropping recordings of abby lee tee’s cat, bathroom squeaks for five minutes of organic downbeat bliss.
»tired dancers« on the flipside offers a melancholy tale of seduction relayed from the shadows, with field recordings of nightly city noise, a reversed music box melody, hypnotic chords and meticulous percussion. delicate, celestial cello (by lukas lauermann) and contrabass flute emerge as counterpoint to this rhythmic hypnosis.
this record is as shimmering as you would expect.

bear newcomer roberto auser has his debut album inbound on bearfunk. whilst we prepare for that gem to drop roberto has teamed up with fellow dutchman alden tyrell for their disco house hybrid blondes and brunettes. alden has had a series of fine releases on the clone and moustache labels, here he fuses his accomplished style with the electronic wizardry of roberto. each of them contributes a spanking remix. alden is tasked with dancefloor operations and he duly delivers with his 4/4 drums, rolling analog basslines and main room swing. roberto goes for the bar mix which tones down the swank but adds in slick percussion and analog stabs for a early set highlight. label chief bear stevie kotey contributes his own version. this time around the real drums and bass guitars have been sidelined in favour of linntastic drum programming and sequenced synth lines. the roberto auser album secret carnaval is out on bearfunk in spring 2010

when we realized we wanted to make the second dubstep nomad compilation we suddenly thought to one man able to select only the best plates. the taste and the strong devotion shown by dj foster in 4 years of sub.fm were the perfect ingredients to setup a project like this. his ability in mixing will be available in a mixed cd containing all the tracks of the compilation
