deep house sounds from a longtime fixture&#8203, in the the detroit house scene (his earliest&#8203, records date back to the late 90s). about time&#8203, lets play house taps into the root of it all for an ep. five&#8203, seriously deep and&#8203, soulful cuts that are as tightly arranged&#8203, as they&#8203, are intuitive loose elastic clearly the product of a&#8203, well-seasoned studio.

conceived along the space of a few years and part of a big collection of unfinished experiments stored on cassette tapes, this eight tracks selection well represents fred ventura s late 80s and early 90s infatuation with chicago house, detroit techno, early warp records and even a secret passion for ebm. using a basic set up made of roland juno 106, roland jx-8p, oberheim dx, roland tr909 and an akai sampler, these tracks were never officially mixed and meant to be released until today. minimal and hypnotic, dry and direct, both sides of the record show an instinctive approach to rhythms and basslines, typical of those days where computer didn t have a predominant role in the creative process.

wrapping up the summer with a bit of a 90s throwback number by st. david, &#8203,, * fools jam* . the ep opens with the titual track, a crunchy, crisp deep house burner, and moves on, with night lovers, into speedier, smoother floor-filling fodder that’s all wiggling, weaving pads and synth leads. the b is a little gentler and more contemplative, but no less melodious dream it (emphasi mix) is a playful yet gauzy piano-led tune that serenades the listener, and la luna (spiritual dub) is a tranquil ditty that serenely glides off into the distance. a calming, mellow conclusion to a particularly emotive 12inch.

2016 repress , legendary deeply rooted house records comes with a new serie releases called rootstrax. first ep is by a mysterious french artist that remains unknown for now. however, the listener that knows a bit about the french house music history can easily define the roots of the producer (not saying he can point out who he is :-) the influences of early 90s fcom/fnac sound is present combined with some classic chicago house... this is exactly the concept of rootstrax. interesting concept and cool record that makes us wonder if this has been dome by an old fox or a young puppy producer? for sure this sounds very mature and delivers 12inch extraordinaire!

the third instalment of king street sounds kerri chandler focussed house legends series sees us digging into late 90s territory with the ep kicking off with harder gets higher, a stomping garage groove with dope flourishes of live percussion, typically heavy on those swinging drums and the deepest bassline, all of the trademarks we ve come to expect from the man himself

repress 2015... presented are 4 previously unreleased cuts from the vault of ben cozmo d cenac, producer of newcleus, dream 2 science, push/pull & sha-lor. written in the late 80s / early 90s, these tracks have been sitting on dat tapes for over 20 years. the tracks themselves feature bens wife yvette cenac a/k/a vai cee from dream 2 science and lady e of newcleus, gregg fore a/k/a buster fhott from dream 2 science and push/pull, the cellar boyz a/k/a the original jam-on djs and finally shareen evans. a career musician, bens instrumentation and programming is timeless, its a sound that cannot be replicated. we are humbled to be working on a project such as this. dont sleep, its a rare 12 inch vinyl weapon!

introducing the house of 12 vol.2, also including some new artists on this one. a1 is with martin bell, uk, the man behind all those videos on youtube about >how to make house music with soul<. a jazzy house raw tune, proper sound for a proper dancefloor. a2 is a mysterious band from croatia, rare people house brand, all stuffed with vintage gears as well, presenting a house/disco song with a fucking good syncopatic crescendo and some hypnotic vocal. b1 is an italian guy, jacy, and his talented attitude to resume a disappeared vibe from old italian house from the early 90s, mixed with a new touch, so its not revival, its a new life about that genre!! b2 is the worst of the band, as usual, deep88, here with a raw-all-played-track that hasnt seen any sequencer, just a multitrack tape overdubbing and mpc.

ark with more raw house !!! weve been waiting a release on versatile from our long time friend ark. it now done with this * street house ep*, an ode to b-boy house. emba anthem, with its samples from a cult west coast 90s hip hop band, and the bewitching nuark, which mixes deepness, sensuality and odd funky groove, but inna ark unique fashion. big shout outs paris kids!

made fresh daily follow up killer 12 inches from geddes and mikki funk with the debut solo ep from rising house producer jackmaster k. though indebted to the current vogue for the sounds of 90s house, jackmaster ks productions are filled with enough unexpected twists and turns to keep the formula fresh, *house aint givin up* switches things up with its nyc electro stabs, saxophone solo and swelling sub-bass, while *get up* takes things into deeper territory with its thick bassline and dubbed out, candy sweet rhodes melodies. on the remix, james johnston flips *get up* inside out, giving it some classic new jersey bump and flex, and busying up the arrangement with added organs, while rosenhafts take on *house aint givin up* is much more expansive, allowing the bassline to breathe in a spacious composition of pitched vocals and drawn out chords.

four releases in now and the quality continues on midnight love club! montel presents the forth release in the shape of 3 heavy duty club cuts with a rather distinct nod to the house sound of 90s nyc/nj. there s not too much info on this montel character, but one thing we do know is that he s a man with a penchant for vintage house & garage. a dj, collector and producer that has decided to give back a little after all these years. and these years of experience are certainly evident in his authentic house and garage sound that has already picked up a fan base that includes bicep, jordan peak and waze & odyssey!

almost 25 years have past since his first release, yet >the true story of house music< is the first time elbee bads catalog gets compiled for re-release. although the best and most prolific part of his catalog is his late 80s and early 90s output, booker never stopped producing (and djing). he is currently residing in berlin, from which he still manages his studio and travels throughout europe to dj.
prior to the compilation we release a vinyl only sampler which features two exclusive and previously unreleased mixes of two tracks which are to be found on his only solo nu groove ep, from which we took the title of this compilation.
this is another winner from the true history of house music.

volta cab has made quite an impact on the nu disco / deep house scene since last year. he is a multitalented, versatile producer, performing brilliantly in a range from from nu disco, deep house, soul, techno to breakbeat. approaching music in an open way, he is not restricting himself to a certain genre, catching the zeitgeist. on serenades, volta cab takes us back to 1992 with a 4 tracker called >house of the rising fire ep<. all of the tracks are heavily influenced by rave and house soundscapes of the early 90s. think of early prodigy, altern8, rachel wallace and baby d, combined with a modern nu disco twist.

after an amazing debut release simply called ep. 1, marcelus returns to deeply rooted house with a exciting twelve inch ep. 2! rawer stompin tracks that never fail to capture that essential funking groove that make the difference between a standard techno track and a track that stands out! somehow drifting between new school techno and old school early 90s acidic chicago house marcelus surely merged best of both worlds into 4 subtle and haunting techno tracks with an unstoppable groove.... just how we like it

brand new ep on qalomota records, after the successful >kolakola-dj steaw< (only on vinyl) we strike again with the new generation of french house music producer. the qalomota family is proud to present you lemy leopard. this young producer got 5 tracks to house u all night long. from old skool flavor with >from the jungle< featuring laetitia dana and >welcome to my house< lemy is crazy about old kerri chandler or bassmental stuff! on b side lemy and the wellknow jocelyn mathieu (maw rec, animal house, dj fudge) give us >state of the world<, this song is perfect for the actual dancefloor. the two other tracks, >lemy house music< sounds really detroit smooth house music, >true soldiers< is definitly close to larry heards work in the 90s. his first ep is just a little taste of what lemy could do, because this guy is absolutly incredible, from hip hop to house and electro, he is the man!

bassbuero a.k.a. thomas ingold and his partner björn müller are long-year resident djs and promoters in our hive club and come around the corner with a smooth customer debut. the title could not be any more designative, as with this is not house music we have a knotless and outstanding 90s number with lots of pathos and - declaredly - they have looked over some shoulders of big protagonists from france. when the vocoder chords are crossing swords with this insane bassline, every ravers heart must beat at least one octave higher. this is the tune for a perfect sunrise and big feelings on the floor. on the flip we have gruber & nuernberg, some good pals of bassbuero that played in hive several times as well - they contribute a complete antipole to the the original. almost a bit trancey they spin the chords over a straight old school house groove, never let the basic spirit of the original out of sight and though don t forget to leave their very own traces on this remix. in addition we have - as with every release - a digital exclusive bonus track, that certainly does not deserve the rating house music - lets call it rather fidget than deep. but be sure, its all gone will blow your mind out.
