kris wadsworth is an integral part of detroits new wave, and with its time he wears his citys heart on his sleeve, delving into the electronic music legacy of his home town and showcasing the range of his own talent. the epic 10-minute title track >its time< is secret journey through the citys pulsing underground. it begins with a primal techno kick that rings out from afar, distorted by distance and brimming with a sense of anticipation. a gravelly male voice demands to know what time it is, declaring that >its time for that dirty shit, that dope shit, that detroit shit<, and the beat then kicks in, gritty and purposeful. the track then does a surprising about-face, abandoning the fist-pumping techno for just high hats and vocals, and transforming into a new phase that nods to detroits other great legacy: electro. grimy electro breaks and wiry melodies are spun before evolving again into deep house, with a see-saw duet of pads, and double-time hand claps. kris own >move dat ass remix< of his track >det sound< takes the dubby 2010 original, and reworks it as a ferocious bass and drums workout with dizzy vocal arrangements and blasting sirens.

with over ten years production experience, the proverbial bar of expectations has been set high for smash tv aka holger zilske and kai preussner and their forthcoming release steroids to heaven. first up on this celebrated ep is steroids to heaven, a glitchy tech house number with an astonishingly catchy bassline, reticulated with a mass of synthesized effects and an intriguing vocal sample. pitched drums and a grooving, energetic bassline conspire with one another in made for eachother driving the track forward alongside a sliced vocal sample which, after a beautifully housy breakdown, is given its full debut. judging from this fine release, smash tv is still in top form, ready and able to set the bar of expectations even higher for 2011.

berliner martin dawson and polish duo catz n dogz join forces to bring us this fierce three track ep entitled no nights. the first track on this release is no nights. brimming with warm pads and an accusing, dark lo-fi synth line this version has a deep vibe to it and the ability to really get under ones skin. following this the berlin-polish team hit us with no nights (beatz mix) a catchy tech-house number with a lo-fi synth line sporadically accompanied by a melodically decending dubby synth. combined with the crisp vocal line this makes for a very promising track. no days, the last track on this release gets straight to business with distorted vocals and a menacing bassline that intertwine throughout the track. varying rhythmical flourishes keep it interesting, while tripped out synthesized sounds guarantee to get any dancefloor grooving. we couldnt be more pleased with the results of this tenacious trio and we look to the future in hope that they are already planning further collaborations.
