person of interest debuts on uttu with 4 tracks of tape saturated breakbeat house. previous releases on l.i.e.s, future times & his own incredible exotic dance records has shown he’s one of the most interesting producers working in house & techno today.
the elegant superposition of the melody and the rhythm of this music offers the best prelude to the new label called sapiens, represented by an emblematic artist of the electronic music scene, and ambassador of the hexagone for more than 15 years. this track is representative of his news inspirations and influences, and reveals artistic intentions shifted toward an incredible musical and human wealth.
dj overdose is back on uttu! 2 of the freshest elekro inspired houz jams from the hague direct to your speakers backed with hyper electro kut probably too commercial for the headz.
two bassheavy tracks courtesy of the sport-camp, taking cues from jungle s sweaty basement-past, but dragging them down to berghain for a lil dance. - heavy baggage - has its militant techno-stomp interlaced with a selection of dusty breakbeats, while the slower -i am not beautiful- begins somewhat subdued with muffled breakbeats, before turning nasty with a 4/4 kick and a sub-bass of obviously malicious intent.
lead track(s) from a forthcoming artist album due to drop later in the year ,) deep rumbling bass complemented with skippy 808 drums, an ever evolving organ line and a gospel vocal. from chicago… with love! a.a

flottant releases cuts right through the misconception that floating and dancing fall at two opposite ends of the same spectrum. from a1, a minimal house cut full of an energetic tension that inevitably resolves into a sentiment of hopeful nostalgia, to a b side which floats far nearer its pulse, with b1 offering a clear feeling of resolution whilst still immersed in spacey elements that groove in a timeless rhythm, and b2 being punctuated by a more techno-driven groove that still flows amidst the floating atmosphere of the entire record, finding closure in a place of unapologetic happiness.
uncertainty. no set route. destination unknown. younger than me know it s the journey that counts, and they premiere with quite the musical journeyman. the dulcet tones of none other than the don, fred ventura, accompany the title piece, a grooving melody ticks over against clean beats. san proper kick up some dust, adding some grit and soul to the original. the flip takes on a darker aspect. the giallo flavoured -not for all- looms and lurks before the dream woven depths of -don demorder-.
nice price deal !!! r-zone is a new label launched by global darkness. who is involved isn t exactly a secret, those who feel so inclined can piece the information together quite easily. it is however irrelevant to the concept of r-zone, which would like to shift the focus away from namedropping and perception based on hype around individual artists and bring it back where it belongs, in the lap of the music.
since summer 2016, ‘keep on’ has been doing the rounds in the house music community, with support from some of the biggest names on the circuit playing the track on a week-by-week basis. initially made off the cuff as a tribute to chicago’s ghetto house sound and inspired by the dc10 terrace, the track went onto become something of a monster that the young scottish producer never anticipated. after 6 months after constant requests the track will finally be publicly available. upfront high and energy drums combine with brash vocal samples to make the track a dance floor weapon for a peak time dancefloor. on the flip ‘antonio’s keys’ takes things deeper, the track works percussion into more thumping 4x4 kick drums whilst the hypnotic lead line pushes the track forward into the early hours of the morning. limited to 300 hand stamped copie
after debuting on uttu back in 2013 lake haze returns to the fold with 2 epic 90s goa-inspired-house-jams for the freaks! backed with an incredible bleep n bass remix from dj boring.
santiago leyba makes his vinyl debut on the label following the rooms tape released earlier this year. recorded simultaneously, life, money, work shows the new york-based artist by way of albuquerque, new mexico, portraying the different characters one might have in a broken mind. sketching a strong criticism of america by means of disorienting vocals and slow-paced d.i.y. electronics, santiago finds him performing alter-egos of sorts — ranging from forlorn ballad singing, to more guttural and strained barking seeking to describe a conflict in maintaining a unified persona. paid labor, sex, and consumer goods. how america tells you to grow up when there is nothing left but complacency and oppression through economic and social means. it all goes down to the shortcomings of humanity, the tangled webs we weave, the impossibility of justice and fairness, and the pressure those things put upon ourselves.
debut release heralding from newly sprung, berlin label, temporize, “sounds from an unknown town” is also the debut release from mysterious italian, wrng pattern. promising the directional sound of “electronic productions with no real boundaries in sub genre”, this first release proves true to the labels intentions.
the limited vinyl release features five eclectic sounding tracks, each reflecting a variety of places on the musical spectrum that the label is planning to represent. on the a-side, listeners are presented with a rich uk and jungle fuelled dubby opener “ancient”, followed by the more delicately constructed techno leaning banger, “dip city lights”. pressed onto the underside is intricately the deepest track on the record, “montjua” tipping it’s hat to a more dubbed out electro palate. followed by the deep digging dubbed out charger “grrl skitty up up”. rounding off the release is “bb mix”, a stuttering, pad heavy track with off-kilter beats.
after a very successful 001 release, rakija series keeps going in a very intricate manner. for the second release delivers another release of quality hypnotic groove. rakija002 is more focused on the dancefloor mechanics, yet still keeps the usual abstract tendencies as heard in 001. coming as a 12” in deep purple color of a plum, it surely is a release we can’t wait to hear.
mysterious berlin based label mask preps its debut release titled ‘lemmy’ with four untitled cuts this april. a new series born out of an established german imprint, mask’s enigmatic debut release was produced using a selection of analogue gear including a moog slim phatty, e-mu sp-1200 and nord rack 2x. the a side begins with a track built around a tightly programmed drum loop which subtly builds, laced with mix-slicing hats and sub-low kicks whilst stretched out chords dissipate around a crunchy synth lead. the second production is twisted and dusty, using flanging and reverberated effects to lead towards a distorted breakdown, driven from the depths by gusts of full bodied snares and a growling sub line. on the flip, dulcet tones of a female vocalist join lush melodic chords to cleanse the palette, whilst working within the confines of a subdued yet crisp drum machine groove. the final track then strips things back even further, employing minimalist percussive hits and a warm bass lead, leaving space for its soothing female vocals to do the talking
described as the start of something special by simon shreeve / mønic and full of depth and texture by kamikaze space programme, other forms debut ep unmarked paths lands on the artists unknown movements label on 12th may. the ep’s five tracks all began life as jams on analogue hardware, and there’s a fat, noisy, intentionally-imperfect feel to each. amidst the floor-conscious urgency of the two sides opening pieces, the other three explore slower, darker territory and all are glued together by a foreboding atmosphere rich in sepulchral reverb and analogue hiss. killawatt calls it wonderfully fluid techno.
the drums smack. the bass is too loud. liberia, ghana, all the way across to uganda. 1970 s tinpot dictatorships birth colourful sounds. magnetic tape, linn drums and bucket brigade delay units confuse the mix. sub-cultural colonialism to destroy the dance. still, it sounds good. and it looks nice. nice sleeve art. move along. move along...
