and so especial comes to its 30th release. as with the ees010 and ees020 the 12inch is given over as a sampler ep of alternate versions, dubs and unreleased cuts that deserve their time in the spotlight. again featuring a labels whos who, with fairplay, paton and baha appearing, but also new crews in vogue with roy of the ravers back, joined by the esteemed freeform five plus a debut from bal5000.

finally realized, here s one that was long on the dkr wish list. among the very finest moments from both artists, these brilliant interpolations of curtis classics have been unavailable too long. a mesmerizing rhythm adorned with the lovely sounds of hand drums, melodica and flute, mixed and dubbed to perfection by king tubby himself. this 12inch is a 6 track ep, with all four cuts as originally released on two separate 45s, plus two unreleased mixes straight off the original tapes. we like to think tubbs favored these cuts, as so many mixes were done! the dub titled super cool is, in our humble opinion, one of tubby s top 10 extant mixes. full disclosure, all tracks except super cool pt. 2 come from the original jamaican mastertapes. we suspect the pt. 2 mix was lost somewhere in nyc, but don t let that trouble you, this one should please all who have ears.

taken from his you might be surprised album from 1985 and produced by james mtume with additional help from tawatha & philip fields (of aurra & mtume) as well as david frank (of the system), this 12 inch has long been sought after by roy ayers fans with the release changing hands for over £100 regularly on discogs. this mid tempo joint with forward thinking lyrics, a great 808 beat and beautiful chords is sophisticated, yet hood. reissued for the first time, don t miss this opportunity to own this slice of mid 80s roy ayers.

take care out there, roy of the ravers is back with another round of boisterous hardware hack-outs on acid waxa. you can tell he means business on opening track -supremacy royale-, a fast and mean-tempered slice of bleepy techno with brains to match its brawn. -ambergris 9- is a more playful jam with wonderfully dated melodic lines lifted from the pantheon of bbc library music, and then -time 2 jack- spins off into strange, abrasive realms of experimental acid. the epic -en trance 10- wheels its way through more than 15 minutes on the b-side, employing trancey bassline strategies to keep your brain locked on course for the full trip.
