remastered reissue of one of the rarest boogie-funk oriented italian releases : matakena a one-off italo boogie studio project from the same producers behind kano. the plus on this one is the instrumental version of aphrodisiac that for strange reasons wasnt available on the original release.

this release is individually 200 hand-numbered limited edition cassette (100 pink and 100 smoke transparent) with a sort of greatest hits of (almost) all archeo releases (ar001-ar011) + an unreleased bonus track from roberto aglieri (ticino parte 4 il merlo), celebrating 3 years of the label, from 2014 to 2017 selected with love by manu archeo (ar001c). archeo recordings is a reissue record label that regenerates old, lost, obscure and forgotten rare gems of predominantly italian music but also all over the world of the 70s, 80s and 90s. all outputs are licensed by the artists and the vintage labels, audio tracks are remastered in their original form the sleeves and center labels are graphically recreated for today but all based on the original images. archeo would like to make the music available to a wider audience of collectors, djs, music lovers of a forgotten time. all releases are hand-numbered limited edition vinyl. the first copies of each release are pressed in coloured vinyls.

man face is a disco afro studio project from 1977, from the musicians duo winston alwyn gill and henderson brathwaite from sounth africa but recorded in italy during the disco era. now rediscovered by early sounds recordings in conjunction with best record italy. early sounds recordings owner pellegrino delivers an additional remix and overdub with the new na na na edit plus the remastered original disco version available on the flip

the mbo theme represents one of the first hits on the early days of chicago house movement. now came back with the plus of the unreleased italian version (on the side b instead of the unnecessary radio cut). this project is being managed by mario boncaldo the same man behind some other great italo-disco projects like tullio de piscopo - stop bajon and plastic mode - baja imperial today is enriched with this unreleased edit produced by mario himself back in the days and availabel only on the studio tape this cut is more heavy and club oriented because there are no vocals so there is more space for synth and bassline parts, a must play for every set!

its coming out on best italy, so you know you re in for a rarified treat from the dusty archives of pan european music. on this occasion the unstoppable reissue label has its disco hat on, serving up the raw cosmic funk of oro, recorded in naples and originally released in 1977. back then, this crucial cut was confined to a short 7inch edit, but best have pulled the stops out to track down the master tapes and execute a thorough remastering job on the full-length versions, now pressed to 12inch for your long-playing, disc-spinning pleasure. its a good thing these tracks came back into circulation they capture the best of the late 70s era in a cool, downright funky style that never gets old.

as well as all the jazz and funk, best italy are also dab hands at digging out italo disco gems that pretty much qualify as proto house jams for their heavy spinning by the seminal chicago djs like ron hardy. this essential transmission from amnesie is a fine case in point, a one hit wonder originally released in 1983 appropriately enough on proto records. now turas makes a welcome return, sounding resplendent in both vocal and instrumental versions, but the real treat for the dedicated diggers is the previously unreleased dub version mixed by legendary dj tony carrasco. thats the jam that will have eclectic spinners getting in a lather.

originally released in 1983 stop bajon (primavera) became a favourite in rimini discotheques, balearic islands and even chicago during the early house days. it was an anthem on what went on to become the italo disco movement. the vocal mix is still revered and played to this day by dj s such as dj harvey at his mercury rising night at pikes, ibiza. this special limited edition release from best record italy features for the first time the original acapellas (tracked down during tape restoration) plus the song stadera that was available only on the first italian pressing and of course the original extended club vocal and instrumental.

sth. notional was a short-lived project that manifested in one album back in 1992, originally released on japanese label zero corporation. yawn yawn yawn focused primarily on various balearic-friendly mixes of the title track and some other scattered pieces, and now they ve received a much-needed spruce up from archeo recordings. the dream. another reality versions of yawn yawn yawn are laid back to the extreme, revolving around delicate instrumentation and occasional threads of speech and singing. there s a mellow beat behind the g-tar cannyon mix, and the thankful mix brings a weightier groove to the table. with the other tracks adding to this utterly smooth, early 90s shake, and spread across three discs, this is the holy grail reissue collectors have been waiting for.

archeo recordings chart a course for the balearics with this laid back delight of overlooked italian island grooves. tony esposito is a long-serving singer-songwriter, and two tracks from his 2004 cd viaggio tribale get a vinyl cut here. dove ce luce gets a special, 90s tinged remix from lucaeffesunset. antonio nicola brunos storia della terra mia is the first of three unreleased tracks from this little known lucan artist, striking a curious note with folk undertones and a sunny disposition. ther s a more dramatic tone to danza e ridanza, which takes on an almost talking heads-esque quality for the b version that closes this high quality 12inch from the ever reliable archeo camp.

when the one o ones originally released radio cosmo disco back in 1977 it was confined to 7inch, which is no place for such majestic cosmic groove exploration. now best records are continuing their quest to repress every hidden gem of italian dance music and beyond, and they re doing radio cosmo 101 the right way. the full disco version of the track gets to stretch out on a full 12inch side, and does so in a dreamy haze of feel good funk. you can still hear the radio edit on the flip, and the original instrumental jam is included for those who want to drift away on those sumptuous tones of the backing track.

pino presti comes back in 2018 on best record italy with another top class disco production. this time featuring the hot voice of roxy robinson on three unreleased extended disco songs from his 1977 quality archive. the drum groove is enriched by the percussions played by one of the biggest italian drummer tullio de piscopo.

amin peck is an electronic studio project, contaminated by the new wave from u.k. like most ’80s electronic bands. amin-peck walked a fine line between disco and minimal wave throughout the course of the early 1980s, oftentimes incorporating shameless pop melodies and avant-garde leanings. amin peck were an italian band leaded by giorgio fioroni (aka george fyron, arrangements, production, vocals) with leonard parker (arrangments, keyboards) and max marne (production). incredible but true, amin peck started as hard rock guitar band in the 70s... and becoming one of the best examples of italo disco. this limited edition it contains full-length versions plus uncut audio material (a2) tracked down during tape restoration.
