we are proud to present our second release by beat pharmacy aka brendon moeller aka echologist, a singular voice in contemporary electronic, techno, and sound system musics in his various guises. beat pharmacy tunes begin life as live hardware jams where reverb, echo and delay rule the day, and rugged textures rub against digital processing. in “density,” bass, kick and heavily reverbed piano skanks anchor an instantly enveloping soundworld of deepest dubwise ambience. from around hidden corners emerge the hiss of distant pistons and valves, sentient machinery working in complex relationships. wobbles, wubs and sweeps communicate across cavernous spaces, as strange rhythmic elements sputter and spatter, tangling and massing in double-time to the point of rupture, only to resolve into crystalline moments of suspension into gorgeous, neck-snapping drops. simply mesmerizing, and heavy in the dance. “everything to gain” is spun from the same heavy metals, with a sparser feel, processed voice, and a buzzing, repeating alarm figure that sounds like a submarine warning that the dive is getting too deep, too dangerous… music that is moving, powerful, evocative and kinetic, slotting beautifully into 140 sets while defying easy categorization or description, always following vision over fashion. this is why we love beat pharmacy.

south african born, new york living brendon moeller, man of a thousand guises - including beat pharmacy, echologist and mono blanco - is a prolific producer known especially for his hard yet dubwise brand of techno. founder of the prolific steadfast label, moeller has releases on a number of excellent imprints including echocord and soul people. for zamzam, beat pharmacy indulged his deep love of heady dubwise, crafting two totally unique and uncompromisingly experimental tracks that provide a window into a singular creative soul.

we welcome back one of our favorite artists, brendon moeller. this time as beat pharmacy. brenson has been releasing several records for us before, on echocord and echocord colour. on all these tracks, one thing becomes apparent, with a few simple elements and a dub approach to mixing, one can create space, movement and groove without the need to change keys. magic maybe. thank you dub manipulators of the past and present for the music and lessons. brendon has been releasing music in many years on many labels, also running his own famous steadfast label.

for the inside job ep, beat pharmacy leaves dub in the background, taking things in a more straight ahead house and techno direction. percussive without being oppressively banging, melodic without excessive nooding, tracks like >inside job< and >comet< nevertheless retain the intense attention to subtle detail that define moellers more dubwise productions. >in a trance in france< takes things into a deeper more hypnotic realm, and >hootin & tootin< toughens things up with an ominous analog bassline and thunderous kick drums sure to ignite a mainroom dancefloor. yet even here, echoes and melodic elements sweep through the mix, lest you forget who was working the boards.

with five beat pharmacy albums and almost a dozen vinyl releases on francois ks deep space imprint, this dubby and eclectic project of brendon moeller needs no introduction.
chugging along at 120bpm, underpinned by a thick sub-dub bassline and a modulating maurizio-style synth cord arpeggio, pump is a hypnotic slap of deep smoky house with some memorable hooks to boot. swirling rhodes keyboards and a slick piano riff serve as a lovely counterpoint to the swinging funk of the hi-hat groove. forever morphing and evolving, the stready and unrelenting groove are guaranteed to keep heads bobbing and toes tapping!
the first remix here is by echospace head honcho, stephen hitchell under his intrusion guise. stripping away and re-contextualizing the key elements in the track, hitchell crafts a warehouse-style dj-tool that subtlely weaves its way into ones subconscious via a delightful psychedelic keyboard hook.
londons bearweasel takes a similar approach, except with a much more pronounced beat track superbly trippy atmosphere. a top notch dj tool thats likely to be spun worldwide.

fifth interval gather together some of the most forward thinking minds in the dub techno sphere for this various artists ep. those already acquainted with the label will be familiar with the likes of federsen and tomas rubeck, who headed up the first and second releases respectively. they are joined by dub techno luminary brendon moller, aka beat pharmacy and alessandro crimi, for this four tracker of perfectly contrasting arrangements. federsen opens the proceedings with the sunset sequence of bay blues, cascading keys rolling through the gaps in a subtly broken drum arrangement, making for effortless and captivating listening. beat pharmacy contributes his first original material to the label after a brace of remixes last year. showing true mastery of the board, chromed chord stabs are pushed and pulled around the mix in true dubwise style, drifting over a malleable bassline that packs a serious punch. on the flip side, tomas rubeck crafts a tightly woven backdrop of constantly evolving, organic atmospherics and powerful drum work for io, and this muscular workout is perfectly contrasted by the swung grooves and kaleidoscopic synthesis of alessandro crimis fractal clouds, which closes the ep.

vivace is a project of stephen hitchell (cv313, echospace, intrusion) and is a unique hybrid of deep house, dub, jazz, & soul, a sort of new school/old school fusion which pays homage to chicago house heroes like chez damier & ron trent in their prescription era but with a modern twist. this project is the continuation of his previous soultek material initially featured on germanys force tracks & force inc family of labels back at the start of the century. the title track in its original form is a sub-aquatic journey through space and bass, as deep as you would come to expect from an echospace production but the sound palette has changed, shifting into a world filled with ambience and free form jazz. the use of live instrumentation & vocals are a driving force behind this project and add a depth and soul oceans deep, its like melting in sonic butter. the soultek mix is a frenzy of edits, funked up and sounds like it could be a schizophrenics take on house music, brendon moeller dives deep into soul, shifting and morphing the original into a proper late night house jam you could only imagine derrick carter or theo parrish dropping at the wee hours of the morning. the closing intrusion mix gives the original a frosty lime green haze best absorbed while inhaling, real trippy stuff. this first release has already earned countless play from francois k and in its inception (as soultek) was hailed as >jacks echo -- the future sound of chicago< by de-bug magazine, germany

limited to 500 copies on coloured vinyl !!! the mysterious intrusion project (feat. on echospace 007) emerges once again and delivers another epic release. throughout the original mix of >tswana dub< you find smooth textured pads and a bassline even the mighty king tubby would surrender to. the melodies evolve in slow motion over time as the synth hits open and close into a fierce midnight skanking session so lo-fi you would think this was recorded at studio 1 in the 1960s. on the flip side brendon moeller serves up heavy bass reductions, live melodicas, brass sections and spatially aware dub fx. the phase90 mix dissects intrusions original into a full spectrum spatial affair as deep as the sea, epic and beautiful...
