dieser grandiose lp-sampler ist dem legendären northern soul-label okeh records gewidmet, das zwischen 1963-70 mit a&r manager carl davis und songschreiber curtis mayfield seine glanzzeit erlebte. 16 massive tunes und wenig bekannte raritäten von titus turner über jolly boy shepard bis jean dushon, von denen viele zum ersten mal wieder aufgelegt werden, darunter das damals unveröffentlichte “ocean of tears” von big maybelle.

soul camps smashing dubbed out, boogified original ( released on scr007 ) returns in 4 mixes by a finger-licking allstar cast. sense records artist soul parlor donats a laid-back, smoked out off-beat funkster with blinding rhodes, edgy, sharp beats and futuristic sounds galore. french production team affol’man keep the funk level high but this time embeded in a raw, slow-burning 4/4 groove that shows some oldschool hip-hop attitude. martin landsky and michael vater ( aka phonique ) represent the intim label in fine style: stripped down with loads of room for the original organ pads, subtle percussion patterns in the background and a dangerous bassline with a dub leaning. hamburg house messengers snider ( silver recordings ) and titus keep it on the dub side with a growling, slow-burning groover that twist your heads with some strange, haunting string stabs and hits you low at the same time with it’s gnarling analogue bassline. top-notch package bringing the goods for just everyone!
