berlin’s mechatronica follows up on the last dez williams ep, with a new va compilation featuring the exaltics, drvg cvltvre, le chocolat noir and kluentah.
the exaltics and drvg cvltvre pack the a-side with gritty, hypnotizing acid burners, relentlessly paced and bound to induce frenzy. on the flip, le chocolat noir and kluentah (50% of hamburg duo fallbeil) dive deep into analogue driven electro trips, culminating with kluentah’s 9-minute journey nightliner.

1997. drexciya dont have no phone. theyre too busy to do your remix. mad mikes response was short and to the point, enough to put off some, but not vincent koreman. addicted from an early age, the dutch producer dug deeper and deeper into the mythology and mystery of james stinson and gerald donald. the sounds, images and ideas conjured up by the detroit electro duo pulled koreman in, his fascination growing ever more intense as the underwater dwellers sonically prospered. fast forward twenty years and that fascination has not diluted one drop, in fact the aquatic dream of the wavejumpers is the inspiration for recolonization. these tracks would have never had existed, says koreman, if it wasnt for stinson and donald creating that great, energetic, abstract electronic music and coupled it with an original vision on the african diaspora, art and culture. this music is an homage to th e enigma of drexciya, a tribute to the machine marine men who pioneered electro and a vision. drvg cvltvre continues that vision, one of an underwater race that has reconquered earth, overcoming big business, corporate greed and water pollution to reclaim the surface from man. forget mankind. our time is over, recolonization is here.

new portland based label, dark leader, emerges with it’s premier release featuring two gritty masterpieces to lose your mind to on the dance floor. “reasons for war,” a heavy techno track by drvg cvltvre, transports you to the iconic volleyball scene from, “top gun,” if it were being played by a group of ruthless terminators. emile strunz’s track, “bubastis,” named after the ancient city of the cat goddess bast, will lure you into a sweaty, egyptian-tinged hypnosis. limited release worldwide, dark leader 001 is housed in full color jackets featuring artwork by koen delaere, designed by eric adrian lee and mastered by timothy stollenwerk.

drvg cvltvre (pinkman / viewlexx) returns to tutamen alongside label boss inca pax to form the second split 12” on the label. drvg cvltvre opens up in full space-age flight mode with “flock of starlings”, followed by the doom-laced beats of “watch the world go blind”.
on the flip, inca pax pushes the tempo above 130 bpm for a turbulent drum-assault in “get a copy of the deeds”, followed by a cut from the dubplate archives in the industrial echoes of “doldrums”.

the new wave of dutch brutalist techno. ekman and drvg cvltvre have been forging a sound steeped in bunkers nihilism and dystopia but also very much their own. ekman drops two piping hot tracks that blend distorted machines with hypnotic melodies and drvg cvltvre drops a prolonged 15 minute workout in uvb static and communications, propelled by a heavy beat and a 303!

acid, no wave and experimental house producer drvg cvltvre has been busy recently. after releasing with chris moss acid on shipwrec in 2014, vincent koreman then served up a full ep of his own, on dutch label cos_mos and is now back once again with a new four track affair on pinkman that comes two years after he offered up the label’s first ep in 2013. up first, * my houz* is a swampy house track with heavy drums, whirring machines and white noise textures all adding up to an intense affair that sounds like little else. then comes * tyranny of the gods* , a slow tempo but high impact track that builds and builds on a nerve lead synth line as frazzled bass props things up from below. dark and weird, occult and rave, its another unique proposition. on the flip, * sleepdealer* is an unbalanced house track with taught, tight bass and is shot through with laser like synths. serene and spaced out, it makes way for closer * crack spirit guide* which is a noisy, intense and brooding fusion of crisp percussion, big walls of synth and chattering drums that really have you on edge. once agin, then, drvg cvltvre has come up with the idiosyncratic goods.

having made a brief appearance on omnidisc alongside danny daze on the four ep, drvg cvltvre steps into the spotlight for a full solo release. a prolific producer from an underground punk diy background, vincent koreman aka drvg cvltvre was previously known for his experimental techno releases as ra- x in the 90s, on labels such as bunker and kk records. stepping up to the new omnidisc imprint, he delivers an ep packed with uniquely gritty, yet melodic techno weapons. as an extra treat to those who purchase the vinyl copy of the ep, a secret download link to two more tracks will be provided.

after releasing with chris moss acid on shipwreck in 2014, drvg cvltvre is now back with a full ep of his own on dutch label cos_mos. since 2009, vincent koreman a.k.a. drvg cvltvre has been churning out his own acid, no wave and experimental house on labels like viewlexx and permanent vacation and now kicks off the new year in style with three more inventive offerings. new earth army is a slow, heavyweight and coarse track with rattling chords, angry percussion and elastic drums that manages to be physical and tough yet groovy and playful at the same time. we have become the filth of the universe is a big, fat, heavy wedge of slow motion techno with monstrous drums and wild acid lines all spraying about wildly for the duration. it’s a warehouse sized track that will reduce the ‘floor to a writhing mess and finally possessed is a sci-fi riddled track with lots of spacey synths, filtered analogue lines and paranoid sirens all making for a turbulent brew of dark and otherworldly energy. once again here drvg cvltvre proves he has a raw sound all his own.

for its third release, french indie label rave or die introduces two dys-topian & dark tunes with haunting atmospheres from drvg cvltvre (viewlexx, snug life, shipwrec) & umwelt (new flesh records, rave or die, drivecom). a serious release for smoking dancefloors. now, you have a choice... rave or die!

the second of the three vinyl eps featuring tracks from perc trax’s ‘slowly exploding’ compilation groups together three of the label’s main artists and closes with a producer making his perc trax debut. the a1 slot goes to label boss perc, whose ‘hyperlink’ builds on the sound of the dancefloor tracks of his last album with a huge kick giving way to swooping 8-bit chords whilst sawf’s ‘goves’, already tried and tested by perc over the last few months is an unrelenting breakbeat monster. on the b-side truss delivers one of the stand-out tracks of this series, with the surgeon supported analogue juggernaut that is ‘brockweir. closing things off is drvg cvltvre, who lowers the tempo but not the intensity with one of his trademark 303 workouts.

the rothmans label combines an unlikely link between football statistics, some of the best (or worst) haircuts to grace the european version of the game, with jacking drums and acid-based rhythmics. the label dedicates its third ep to french striker dominique rochetea, with a various artists ep as strong as the back four of arsenals 98 fa cup winning side. the nigel winterburn of the release is coyotes without the e, a squelchy and balearic groove with psychedelic vocals not too far off from dj koze mrs bojangles. aimes and scott fraser provide the ep with the composure of tony adams and the brute force of martin keown with their respective synth-led productions the kontemplation of kosmic order and heat for dust, while on the right - a would be lee dixon - drvg cvltvre, supplies the master builder, an ebm and industrious dancefloor workout.

the first release of the new dutch label pinkman contains four great tracks from drvg cvltvre, formerly known as ra-x. his music is slow, doomy, with broken disco and house elements, focussing on on hypnotic repetition and percussion. most of the music is made with electronic means, but is rooted in an organic, percussive approach.

a lot can be said about the stubborn and confrontational ways of prolific dutch producer drvg cvltvre and his new york haunted label, but one can never accuse him of taking the easy way out. musically, his output of experimental electronics has swayed between heavy industrial techno and noise, composed music and slow, doomy and experimental house. on this new, full lenght album nobody cares forever he blends all of the above. from the orchestral hit, rave fueled opener to the melancholic synths of closing track all of my heroes and everything in between is pure experimentation and decomposing of standard house, rave and techno elements. now, here, in this #trumpage, you can feel his resistance to authority and the readiness to confront in every inch and fiber of this album...

at the end of august, sound artists and producers drvg cvltvre, strict nurse, staplerfahrer and pim kersten examined the audio capabilities of a huge steel art structure. in a 5 hour session they scraped, pushed, hit, wiped, connected and kissed the steel rings. everything was recorded and these three tracks are the results of those sessions. they were recorded live in park 013, where the iconostase was housed and which adds a sea of dark reverb to the sounds of the steel rings
