debut album of lou that describes her way to adult life while struggling to retain the excitement and naivety that describe her. each track, one (at least) of the intense sentimental situations that she had to face during the last 2 years

melbourne talent lou karsh steps up for xk011 and delivers an astonishing ep of emotive acid and techno. with only a handful of releases on his own imprint, lou karsh records, and under his evil reptilian alter ego (which shall not be exposed here), the maturity of these productions belies a relatively new hand… watch out!
austin based pop artist lou rebecca makes a captivating debut with her stellar self-titled ep. born and raised in paris, lou’s music is delicately delivered in both english and her native french with a natural grace and unmistakable charm. lou’s approach to songwriting and performance is riveting from start to finish and has been a huge presence in the dense local synth scene for several years. now her unique brand of electronic pop has officially arrived, polished and teeming with personality. the vinyl ep included a download code.
for the record the artist presents a sonic curation of her work ë.ctu_isbtmí. operating in a space between sculpture, code and electronics, the system scans 3dimensional objects via a live video feed and programmatically encodes the artistís glass sculptures within a language of pitches and rhythms using samples as a transla- tive matrix. following samples are used : 0 basketball, 1 tennis, 2 swim, 3 scubadive, 4 helicopter, 5 race, 6 golf, index side a: codes sounds were produced from rotating black glass objects whose shapes determine the parameters of a 2d synthesis space. side b: the resulting sounds are live coded into musical pattern. along with byrke louís sound piece the physical record features words by agf.

o jays road manager, don king prison chauffeur, window washer, house painter, ink spot, domino, producer, engineer, label owner, guitorgan technician, and one-time steward of a coveted jet magazine delivery route, lou ragland is cleveland s eastside success story. though suffocated by lake eries nitrate rich waters and the burning oil from a cuyahoga river fire, between 1967-1977 lou ragland produced the most thoughtful, hopeful, and downright soulful work to come out of the forest city. bookended by his dynamic albums hot chocolate and understand each other, i travel alone gathers period singles, collaborations, and an unreleased live album cut in 1973, revealing a cleveland genius in a musical microcosm of fearless and confident creation.
following up the scorching debut release another night, deep&disco recordings sidesteps the sophomore slump with elisco, an infectious electro-funk groover that both cements the labels commitment to quality and expands their musical range.
a chunky nu-disco track with hints of metro area and a catchy vocal hook, the seeds of elisco were planted in the early 2000s when label founder jkriv and lou teti were sharing a loft space in williamsburg, brooklyn. after an afternoon of cowbells and synths, the skeleton of the track had its shape, and their other roomates girlfriend was enlisted to sing the hook. she had no singing experience (or rhythmic sense) to speak of, but somehow it all worked and elisco was born! although its always been a personal favorite of the producer duo, the song remained shelved for almost 7 years until they dusted it off in early 2011 and readied it for release on the newly minted deep&disco recordings.
providing remixes for the vinyl release are the legendary leftside wobble, who turns in an extended and bpm-d-up version quite true to the original, taking the machine vibes to the next level with added loops and fx. brightons alphabet city brings the disco-boogie sensibility to the package with a deep mix that features jkriv on live bass, and whiskey disco regular sleazy mcqueen rounds it out with an indie dance stomper.
after a few years releasing singles under different monikers, brooklyn producer lou teti launches his own label, tigers on a leash, with the debut >get away< as a certain way to kick things off right. the original is an almost hypnotic electro-builder with an 80s touch, yet with a sound thats still firmly planted in 2011. even though tetis vocals are used more like another instrument than as a center piece, sneaking in and out against the guitars and synths, it s still the kind of memorable vocal line that you will find ringing in your head as you wake up. drop out orchestras club cut is a just that, a cut to get any club moving. in true doo style, they take a great original and create something special, but completely different. jkrivs deep&disco mix takes deep to a new low, with a breakdown thats truly epic. and finally theres mario basanovs remix. a beautiful deep house groover like only mario can supply.
in the four years since his career redefining, mostly acoustic record emoh, lou barlow has reunited with dinosaur jr and reissued three of sebadohs classic albums. but as the brilliant new goodnight unknown illustrates, hes hardly living in the past. borrowing the live band energy of dinosaur jr and the stylistic reach of sebadoh, barlow has built on emohs full production and written a set of immediate, melodic pop songs that lou describes as, a cross between my later work with folk implosion and my earlier work with sebadoh...to my ears, anyway. from the surging opening track sharing to the surprisingly soulful performances on the right, goodnight unknown benefits from barlows tunefulness and his decision to record the record relatively quickly, with old friends and new. the melvins dale crover adds inspired drum work throughout, and goodnight unknowns urgent sound owes just as much to frequent barlow collaborator imaad wasif (yeah yeah yeahs, alaska!). the records considerable power also stems from the new talents on board, including producer andrew murdock and lisa germano.
the right is the first 7inch to be taken from lou barlows new domino album goodnight unknown. lou barlow, legendary member of dinosaur jr and founder of sebadoh and the folk implosion, releases his first new music in over three years. the new music recalls vintage lou - upbeat, yet always yearning and endearing, memorable songs to break your heart. the 500 copies only 7inch comes backed by non album b side author.
lou records who previously released hits such as ernest saint laurent's >in the sky<, is back with disko cabine, projetc presenting collaborations between different young & older european wellknown artists. the first singlme from the album europa pres us with amazing cooperation between khan and brigitte fontaine, & jeans team and elli medeiros. essential
there's some interesting influences going into the melting pot here, as france's furious kay gets it together with bermuda's lou valentino. dancehall rhythms shuffle with deep funky bass & percussion, whilst l.v. lays down rhymes, making way for sariel's sweet choruses. sounds like a hit to me
hemlock is proud to issue on vinyl the 2014 quantum natives digital-only album populous by london based artist brood ma. arriving at a timely moment of explosion in interest and dialogue between the noise, grime and ambient communities brood ma effortlessly processes the raw aggregates from all three scenes creating a disturbing apocalyptic landscape of his own. its continuously mixed eight tracks offer a high definition maelstrom of relentless percussive jabber and writhing synths, veined with moments of shocking textural rapture
