british label innercity records made a flying start to life last year, with their v/a releases going down a treat with a slew of the scenes prime movers and shakers. for their latest release, the manchester based label does much the same again, as they compound their auspicious start to life courtesy of a four-tracker thats dripping in refined house-music textures.

innercity, the nom de plume of belgian producer hans dens, has been releasing his brand of entrancing lofi electronica on his own cassette label why so serious, on aguirre records and a slur of other specialized labels (amongst which his acclaimed album on seattle-based further records).

innercity records is the new label from mark horsfall (horsey brothers/amenti music/kaluki) and danny stott (aka roland nights - amenti music/lost my dog). the label, based in manchester and launching in early april, will release a series of various artist eps. volume 1 features 6 artists that represent the very best of what the deep house scene has to offer right now - the well established giom features on the vinyl release with dale howard , leigh d oliver and roland nights, while young brazilian star gutto serta and welshman casey lee jones complete the digital release which will follow a month later. mark and danny state, innercity is born out of a raw passion for proper house music. remaining true to the spirit of house music is our primary aim, which does not involve trying to strictly emulate the music of days gone by but finding house music made out of love for the dance floor.

new years deal - behind the highway, near the industrial area, next to the airport, somewhere in the innercity, urban principles fall apart. that leaves the enclaves, mono functionalism and an urban ultra density that local governments are struggling to eradicate. both a cage and a cocoon, there is a space where development opportunities hit the wall. hybrid places that combines urban collapse and >the new culture<, endemic violence and solidarity, all of which is left to the communities to deal with without outside help. when the post-industrial economy becomes sporadic and nothing else takes shape, man is left at the mercy of his environment. techno appears and becomes a parallel between man and the city, as another faceless entity which unifies them. this unity is the result and techno is the process.
