umeko ando (1932-2004) was a folk singer from japan. she is a representative of the ainu culture on the hokkaido island in the north of japan. iuta upopo was released on her last cd upopo sanke in 2003, produced by oki kano (oki dub ainu band). upopo is the name of a particular singing style which involves repetition, while iuta simply means song. umeko ando performs this minimalistic vocal in a brittle, emotional manner which is framed by a slow, percussive pulse and oki’s tonkori patterns (the tonkori is a string instrument of the ainu). when pingipung’s andi otto toured japan in 2017, he came across this enchanting, folkloristic and danceable song in a dj set of a friend. he made contact with oki kano who agreed to license the track from his own label chikar studio. it is pressed on vinyl for the first time. this single is part of pingipung’s ongoing concentrical series of 7inches. we are very pleased to have a m.rux remix on the b side. he is not only a brilliant original producer, as his ep in the hold (ynfnd 2016) has proved, his claim to fame is a sublime collection of edits & cuts (for free on his bandcamp) which skillfully takes classics by nina simone, townes van zandt and others to the slowhouse dancefloor. his remix adds a gliding subbass, a kickdrum and occasional claps to the enhanced percussive structures of the original. umeko ando’s vocals adapt seamlessly to m.rux’s powerful electronic production

new berlin vinyl label releases their first album sampler from their forthcoming album -nachtboutique-. influenced from disco, funk, soul, oldschool electro and house, we present to you the first vinyl of the album series. throughout the first three tracks we move from floaty house through to a disco orientated number and finish with a downbeat slowhouse jam.

after appearing with c-beams recently,break sl strikes back with a massive track called desert flight that has already been causing a stir amongst the uncanny valley crew for quite a while.over the course of ten minutes the track unwinds as an analogue slowhouse trip that is dominated by a gritty synth figure.with typical sophisticated break sl drums,radio transmitted messages directly from the cockpit and a freaked out siren its a track that is not from this world. the flipside starts off in a more classical manner with the rumbling house of amorphed limits. the track is distinguished by rapturous synths and gets spiced up through additional drum work by break sls partner in crime manuel sander. beercase song originates from collaboration with dresdens universal genius max rademann. his quirky keys and break sls drum workshop create a dirty piece of funk which rounds up an eclectic ep by a versatile producer.the cover artwork was created by visual artist and designer julien simshäuser who illustrates the trip that is desert flight.

peter clamat returns with two downgraded state- of-the-art slowhouse rollers straight from south- west germany. the a-side with future and dispatch shows once again the great development of peters sound into more and more deepness and originality. slow,dope and shuffling like hell.

produced slowly and meticulously over the last 12 months, these seven tracks are the closet thing we have had to a new album from andy stott since the release of his debut full-length merciless five years ago. taking influence from an array of seemingly incoherent noises, from the indefinable and unforgettable mind- tricks of arthur russell to the slowhouse of kassem mosse, from the alternate vhs realities of james ferraro and jamal moss to the linn drum classics of the vintage prince era - these seven tracks create their own pace and agenda, largely shying away from the dancefloor in favour of something more complex and hard to define.

naum gabo is a project of jonnie wilkes (optimo) and james savage. this 12 inch shows the slower side of dance music with links to german progressive rock or more psychedelic music.
>black lab< is a slow cosmic dancer, while the remix by japanese nu disco artist discosession is deep and gorgeous slowhouse. >torus< is like a pre-techno sound which came from progressive rock.

sven weisemann comes with something quite removed from his usual oeuvre for the likes of styrax, mojuba or liebe*detail etc with a luxurious 7 inch, flexing his esoteric jazz and cinematic production skills for the newly minted essays imprint. theres no dancefloor ambitions here as weisemann allows himself some time to explore opulently textured downbeats and dubby ambience on two gorgeously crafted tracks for late night/early morning play. >rootless< is a delicious 5 minutes of melancholy detroit emotions with stunningly spacious sound design, while >garden of fantasy< on the flip sways with a slowhouse rhythm and brilliantly intangible synth pads that will transform the atmosphere of any space its played in. completely lush and utterly seductive, plus it plays backwards! limited copies - hurry.
