side a) soft house company – what you need… the most perfect italian piano house tune ever. this record oozes sophistication and perfection in its beautiful construction. as compared to some of the italian piano screamers of the past that have dated quite badly, this continues to live on as a classic emotive piece of house music. a perfect end of the night anthem! a little piano on the flip was regularely dropped at the classic hacienda in manchester circa 1990, huge piano anthem. junior vasquez used to mix 2 copies of this track at the legendary sound factory club in nyc! simple but effective bass with italian piano….. house!

moving to london, producing two sell-out records with mall grabs steel city dance discs, and nailing mixes for rinse, nts and boiler room, made 2018 a landmark year for australian-born producer and dj loods. following his extensive touring across the uk and europe, loods has been working away in the studio to produce his classic music company debut. this two-track 12inch marks an impressive label outing for the artist, as title track walking away offers a summer-ready sound with soft keys, a soulful vocal sample and lilting beat. on the b-side is the deep and grooving the feeling, where the burgeoning artist presents another track primed for summer dancefloors with this disco house number.

dutch dj, producer and dekmantel family member young marco kicks things off with a beautiful, melodic, waterfall of a track. it’s a record you’ll want to play out on a yacht, while sipping on a rosé under the warm, afternoon sun. 2017 has been nothing short of an epic year for marco, having already compiled the second in the selectors compilation series for dekmantel, in addition to having released the second lp as gaussian curve, alongside gigi masin, and johnny nash. marco is in good company, as dutch-based artist suzanne kraft crafts a delightful, ambient-meets-house, summer groove, that lives at the most relaxed of paces, sitting side-by-side on the a-side. flip the record over and dekmantel favourite, and dutch house institute tom trago finds himself in a moment of blissful summer haze, with soft, sonic-pallets and waving melodies. concluding the record is long serving dekmantel mainstay, and rednose distrikt main-man awanto 3 with an analogue, and feel-good, electro-beat rhythm.

shaun reeves & tuccillo mark visionquest’s first release of 2017 with their ‘origin 99’ ep, comprising four collaborative original tracks from the pair. individually shaun reeves and tuccillo have been driving forces in the realms of underground house for quite some time, collectively releasing on labels such as raum, 2020 vision, circus company and more. this time round though the pair’s material finds a home with visionquest, label co-founder shaun reeves joins forces with tuccillo, following his solo ‘full time’ ep on the imprint in 2016, for a new synergistic release. up first is title track ‘origin 99’ which sees the pair deliver a smooth understated house style via organic percussion, winding dub stabs and tension building atmospheric to create a subtly evolving six and a half minute cut. ‘one two five’ follows and lays focus on a more stripped-back aesthetic with sparse rhythmic hits, tumbling sub hits and a dreamy bell chime melody. ‘prowler’ opens the latter half of the package with soft chord sequences and wandering delayed synth lines running alongside 303 bass and shuffled snares before ‘blood moon’ closes the package on a raw minimalistic vibe with swirling dub echoes and intricately evolving percussion.

with summer just round the corner, hell yeah come up with some essential—and fully, officially licensed—new cuts from balearic gabba sound system edit master enzo elia. he touches up some historic italo house with his usual masterful touch and will have you yearning for boat party season before the tracks have even finished playing. if you loved the italian s take on soft house company what you need, you should go crazy for this new offering. up first is italo-piano-house classic morenas s hazme sonar, which is eight minutes of diva vocal athletics, big synths and pumping retro drums that will make you punch the air. fun and fulsome, it is a sure fire classic house winner this summer. jazzy doll s ladybird is next and in enzo s hands becomes a rubbery, ducking and diving house cut with big hand claps, bubbling bass and loose limbed percussion that is ripe for raves on the sea.

a diverse and damaging three track ep from bone, exploring and exhibiting detroit techno musically, figuratively and spiritually. a1. here to stay (won t fade away) a nod to detroit as an ever-present - a marker by which others are measured, bone s first track on the detroit ep, here to stay (won t fade away) makes a statement above and beyond just being a fine example the music it refers to. the sumptuous melody that opens the track is accompanied by a substantial yet soft, almost warm, kick, a combination that somehow provides an atmosphere and depth way beyond merely the of the sum of its parts. more rolling percussion and drums are crisply ushered in before the here to stay (won t fade away) vocal begins looping over the composition. linear, straight up loops, grooves and rhythm give a consistent sense of railroad-esque motion atop of an ever-present vein of lush synth and melody. a track that is certainly here to stay. a2. detroit is ... soul with more of an emotional focus than symbolic this time, it s clear this one is from bone s heart. detroit is ... soul, ducks and weaves in the grey area between house and techno, the initial percussion that is brushed over the kick giving more of a house swing than a techno groove. the on/off, cut-and-dry synth chords contrast with the looser fluidity in here to stay (won t fade away), and gives a real sense of intent and desire. the real focal point however is the profound vocal that comes swirling over the top, -detroit is what i love, detroit is what i need, detroit is where i m from, detroit s the air i breathe?- no explanation necessary. b. detroit is ... hard bone rounds off part 1 of his detroit ep with aplomb. where the previous two tracks have drawn on the emotional and symbolic significance of detroit as a place and as an ideal, detroit is ... hard, cuts straight to the chase. utilizing the same vocal sample as detroit is ... soul, bone feeds things through the grinder and comes out with a late night dancefloor destroyer that blends millsian fury and red planet mystique with the archetypal subject detroit aesthetic. chaotic arpeggiated melody, indignant claps and breakneck drums and percussion are the chosen company for bone s words on this flipside to detroit is ... soul. detroit is ... hard, undoubtedly to become a mainstay for sweaty after-hours affairs the world over
