it’s been a long time coming. after raygun, conscious mind, void vip, stolen desire and a host of other guest appearances over the years, it was about time spirit delivered his first full solo release and it has certainly been worth the wait!
‘international’ has already been causing some severe destruction in the hands of those dj’s fortunate enough to have early access. an unrelenting frenzy of thunderous bass, seesaw amen fills, cavernous reverberating drums and hypnotic pads spiralling towards it’s intense surging apex. creeping synths, stripped-down militant rhythms and stealth subs provide the perfect vision for the title track, ‘stalker’ before ‘look out’ completes the journey with a brooding bass overload, surrounded in huge atmospherics and mystical echoing vocals.

having made his debut in 2006 on rip n burn recordings and also appearing on hadshots 10 year anniversary complation in 2007 under his alias audiolizer, israeli producer matan arkin has forged a style for himself that is both heavy in its orchestral audio mentality while keeping enough low end bounce and grime to be aimed squarely at maximal dancefloor effect. angels strikes a balance directly between sentimental yet bounding tech house and bass driven electro house, creating an end result that is both melodically enthralling and rhythmically grabbing. bordering on the edge of emotion, the simple melody carries the track till its end while an unwavering bass makes itself known without ever dominating the forefront. black is beautiful utilizes the sultry vocals of selecta beats recording artist elisete as the theme around which a slow, simple and naughty groove is built. with the lyrics deviously weaving their way around an ever-transforming musical backing, the song creates itself as a sweltering escapade that doesnt abandon its charm until the last second. mipt shows matan digging deep into his studio dexterity to mold a wildly distinctive piece that borders on the edge of melodic abstraction while still stealthily keeping its grip on a distinguishable degree of mesmerizing harmony. never losing its way through a complex maze of synths and squelches, the song serves as a vivid and vibrant highlight that reminds that plain simplicity isnt the only way to guarantee success on the dancefloor
