following afrobeat makers vol.1 (sold out), comet is pleased to announce the second volume of the afrobeat makers collection, due for release in june this year: the tony allen’ original afrobeat patterns revisited by few of the best international dj/producers, with among them: doctor l (paris), thiago franca (sao paulo), mps pilot (amsterdam), or gnowee (paris) tony allen has spread afrobeat to the corners of the globe, a perfect synthesis of tradition and sophistication – his various collaborations with great artists from all genres and styles are a truly proof of his openness. doctor l, paris based music producer, is a sound activist going through the musical galaxies, fusioning from 80’s punk rock, to hip-hop, electronica and afrobeat ... in 2000, already on comet records, he brought lagos afrobeat towards the third millennium with the album black voices by tony allen, and even send it to the moon, with his other project, psyco on da bus. since 2002, dj/producer mps pilot (nl) has immersed himself in the cutting-edge tropical bass scene. in every possible direction and slippage between all different genres, mps pilot maps the crosspollination and divergence of contemporary music. he performed on 3 continents, both in remote desert or major festivals. thiago franca is a producer, musician and saxophonist from são paulo arts scene, this year with his power afro-punk trio meta meta, they released for the first time in europe (mais um discos -uk), their debut album metal metal. thiago is meanwhile developping his african rooted solo outfit, sambanzo, and was also in criolo’s touring band for two years, where he met tony allen, which led to two collaborations on the the afrobeat makers and meta meta’ albums.

hypnolove are a cult band from toulouse, in the southwest france. their first album >eurolove< included the french pop song >mademoiselle< which featured across french national radio stations, a kiss cover (i was made for loving you), a feist featuring (bitch lap lap) (but sshh, no one is allowed to mention her real name, she became famous just after recording it) and even a punk track! the album was going places. nothing short of brilliant, but alas, audiences had a hard time understanding the logic of it, which of course was simply the songs, the taste, the musicality and the talent!dj-support from tiga, busy p, steve aoki, pilooski, the magician, munk, jerry bouthier, rory phillips ...

** 2019 reissue ** lcd + pcp is a massive collaboration for this release: carl craigs label planet e is set and ready to rerelease one of the tunes produced as paperclip people, throw. the a-side on this 12 vinyl features a cover of the song by james murphy and his merry band of music makers, better known as lcd soundsystem. lcd soundsystem has been using its cover of throw in live sets for some time. guest of the 2005 lcd live performance at the el rey theater received a shocking surprise. while the band was closing out the night with an extended version of yeah. somewhere around the eight or nine minute mark, bassist tyler pope began jammin on the famous groove from throw. the crowd watched in shock and awe as the band slowly, one-by-one, joined in, morphing yeah into throw seamlessly. by the time james murphy grabbed the mic and declared in full falsetto i wanna see your haaaaaaaaaaand! everyone basically unloaded on themselves. truly a classic act for a classic track! this release will be the first time the lcd studio rendition has ever been made available on wax

im basement des legendären westlondoner flamingo clubs gab es den weniger bekannten americana club, wo jimi hendrix 1966 erstmals in england live auftrat, paul mccartney seine spätere ehefrau linda eastman kennenlernte und mitte der 1950er jahre ein mod-allnighter mit r&b, blues, jazz, calypso und ska stattfand, dem dieser gleichnamige lp-sampler mit 16 erfrischenden tracks gewidmet ist.

this album has been many years in the making. around 2005 we were gigging, playing hip hop breaks and supporting acts like krs-one and raekwon. we wrote a lot of our own material, but we never properly recorded it in a studio, we did however make lots of -one mic- recordings onto a mini-disk player. tom kept hold of all of these recordings and in 2011 send copies of everything to the rest of the band. a short list of 30 were chosen to record properly. a basic studio was booked, and recording began, initially it was pretty basic, just drums, bass & keys with guitars overdubbed the following day. with these foundation rhythm tracks tom went away and edited them, creating structure, extra layers and demo mixes. these demo mixes were used to send to mcs. it was decided to go with american mcs as the type of thing we listened to when we wrote a lot of our material was classic 90s hip hop. el da sensei & sadat x were the first to respond to our request, and soon features were flying through ever other week. we actually had enough material for 2 albums, but picked what we wanted to represent our first release and continued to develop the material, including adding session musicians for harps, brass, strings and cuts. we chose 4 tracks to create videos for and got the ball rolling with various video makers. the final year was spent mixing, sequencing and deciding on artwork. the title cinder hill is reference to where the band spent many afternoons practicing at john & joe’s parent’s house, their mum maggie passed away in 2016 and the album is dedicated to her for her endless support and love for the music.

donovan is a french parisian duo consisting of david saïd and nicolas nekmouche, formed in 2007. influenced by black music, french touch and techno as much as contemporary artists, donovan created an original sound, melodic and also very club, with tracks like >breakin, released on work it baby, a track featuring jessica rizzo released on gigolo records etc. so combining their respective influences, they obtain tracks full of energy and depth. the band hits the bulls eye and remixes requests start to pour in. among them two tracks of sebastien tellier for record makers, teenage bad girl, arnaud rebotini and several rock bands. dont pass on this one !
