o.v. wright war ein legendärer soulsänger, der leider 1980 viel zu früh an einem herzinfarkt gestorben ist. obwohl der 41-jährige sänger insgesamt 13 top 50 r&b-hits zu verzeichnen hatte, kann man ihn nicht nur an seinem kommerziellen erfolg messen. er wurde als einer der größten und ausdrucksstärksten sänger des genres verehrt und mit größen wie otis redding oder solomon burke verglichen. “treasured moments” enthält eine essentielle auswahl an singles, die er zwischen 1965 und 1976 auf don robeys back beat label und abc records veröffentlicht hat.
dieses nun wiederveröffentlichte live-album von o.v. wright wurde 1979 aufgenommen und erschien erstmals 1989 bei dem legendären label hi records, jedoch nur im cd-format. nun ist das werk erstmal als vinyl-version erhältlich. mit dem hit -eight men and four women- landete o.v. wright in den top 10 der amerikanischen billboard-charts. die aufnahme entstand im hotel nakano sun plaza hall in tokio.
