the new deetron single, with part 1 featuring marcel dettmann on remix duties, >lets get over it< is a gloriously soulful techno masterpiece. deetrons early detroit and chicago influences are evident in the music. tough and groovy with some warped synth action, that weaves its way around the lush, warm vocals of justin. not only do you have the great original, but music man have produced an embarrassment of riches for you, with three huge remixes. first up is berghain resident marcel dettmann. known for his outstanding and original productions on osgut ton and his own label mdr. he produces something fresh yet surprisingly old skool in sound. this mix has already been licensed by dettmann for his latest compilation

echocord colour is the new sublabel of echocord records. the first ep is made by arne weinberg aka onmuta mechanicks. the a-side is a deep powerfull 4 to the floor dubtechno track, and the bside is a more listening detroit influenced dubby track. arnes first 12inch, the >through the collonades< ep was released in early 2001 and gained some good reactions such as getting charted by laurent garnier. becoming far more influenced by deep electronic music arne began building his studio and his own musical style.

yore returns with a true dream team split ep, pairing yore label head andy vaz with sistrum manager patrice scott. vaz is up first with a beautiful slice of old-school funk and soul within a deep house formula, >back to square one< that has a whole lot more in common with isaac hayes and james brown than with juan atkins or any other techno icon. accompanied by a wah-wah guitar figure and claps, a bullet-proof bass line leads a nine-minute charge thats quickly bolstered by a slinkily swinging drum groove. creamy synth chords and blazing horns intermittently spill over the pulsating mix and then vanish, leaving space for the rhythm to intensify and the track to grow ever more euphoric (and even, towards its close, a bit acidy). a true mission into both funk and house, which again showcases vazs ultimate diversity as an outstanding producer. scott titled his second sistrum release beyond deep and the title might just as easily apply to the b-side >aztecal< where the detroit producer slathers shimmering stabs and congealing streams over a thudding kick drum and flickering percussive detail. while vazs cut draws inspiration from the timeless traditions of decades past, scotts looks towards the future when its gleaming shuttle lifts off in pursuit of distant galaxies.

would you have remembered? with the debut album of the 32-year-old warszawian, téchnè, cocoon recordings has released the first artist album ever on the label six years ago, at that from an artist who was not well-known to a large extent back then. this has changed fundamentally: with his releases on his own label recognition as well as on trapez or klang elektronik, sienkiewicz belongs to those ambassadors of modern individual electronic dance music who set benchmarks. this is also his demand with the two tracks on “my little place”, meanwhile his fourth release for cocoon recordings. while the over-heated my little place re-interprets the credo of dub with polyrhythmic elements, delays and echo in an somehow unfamiliar way, “com-bat” carries on sienkiewicz tradition of putting hypnotic sound evocations close to the ten-minute mark. with intensive melancholy, the percussive bass rotor of com-bat creates a bewitched hymn for sunrises somewhere in between the urban desperation of detroit, the atmosphere of after hours and balearic bliss
