when dial records started in 2000 with a bunch of friends highly inspired by deep house, detroit techno and cologne lovetunes, nobody of them ever thought about running a decent record label. the only concept david lieske, peter kersten and paul kominek had in their mind was never to be part of any proper record business, never to be controlled by any rule or trend, always to let the record label be a part of their love for music and arts. even the dial family was never intended growing that big, almost 70 percent of the artists on the first compilation are the same on >2010<, the history starting from a small label based in hamburg turned out climbing a high mountain. touching cities like detroit, tokyo, paris, berlin, buenos aires, releasing music like contemporary classic, drones and glitches, ambient, guitar pop, singer songwriter, deep house, minimal techno, discovering arts of protagonists such as michaela meise, sergej jensen, dirk stewen, hanna schwarz, anna mšller, cosima von bonin, all this fills a decade of dial records. but still the main part is the music and as we hold the 2010 compilation in our hands and listen to the tunes of phantom ghost, isolŽe, pantha du prince, carsten jost, john roberts, efdemin, lawrence, christian naujoks, dominique, rndm, pigon, kassian- we still have this enthusiastic feeling that wants to tell us: this is only the beginning

back in 2000 the herbaliser self-released their highly acclaimed double-vinyl album session 1: taking key tracks from previous albums and re-recording them in their purest form, expanding them, without vocals or lyrics this is an excellent representation of the bands live show at that time.

this summer beni will continue to reign the dancefloor supreme with a new monster slab of black plastic, maximus featuring vocals from the mighty sam sparro. who put the fun in acid-funk you ask? the answer is: beni did. a low-slung exercise in dark and dirty arpeggiated sleaze, maximus marries a sparse bubble-groove that creeps up behind you and licks your ear with a very purple vocal performance by sparro to devastating effect. the resulting track is something akin to kiss-era prince and friends dirty dancing at a toga party while ancient rome burns down around them. on the flipside beni and nicky night time give maximus a night-time re-dub rubdown, taking the track away from the creepy funk freak and towards a straighter slammer jammer, favouring blatant dancefloor manipulation over the subtle and the sexy. also featured (and included on the next kitsune maison 7 installment) is fringe element, which encapsulates the feeling of surfing on a shooting star like never before, with beni sitting proudly at the controls. an electronic orchestra of descending basslines, vocoder snippets, bleeps and acid squeaks, fringe element caps off another compelling chapter in benis lifelong voyage through dance. after the cover of his first ep my love sees you made by geneviíve gauckler, his new 12 is illustrated by french artist andre.

after the success of the compilation french do it... better (vol.1, vol.2 and vol.3) mixed by mathieu bouthier, serial records starts a new series: serial mix, gathering tracks from the french electro label serial records. concept is simple: twice a year, an artist from the label serial records selects his favourite tracks from the labels catalogue, and mixes them into a more-than-an-hour continuous track... for the biggest pleasure of house music fans! here we go with the first edition.

final song goes to the very heart of musics spiritual dimension by asking a number of musicians to select their ideal last song, either to serenade their final moments or to memorialize them after the fact. the participating artists deserve to be commended for their openness: theyre responding to one of the most personal questions one could ask. (several of those approached declined to take part- taboos are taboos, after all.)
