one of the most consistent us production duos since the 90s return to strictly for the third time in a year with one of their mellow, understated vocal grooves. singer tara j keeps it laidback and jazzy while lem and john craft a selection of r n b fuelled vocal mixes, just the instrumental mood ii swing dub providing a deeper flavour with tense beats and electronic touches, while the acoustic, downtempo urban lounge mix is a revisit to their classic live mixes.
there s another new, exciting talent to be found on moodmusic. john muder, known for his partnership with chopstick as chopstick&johnjon has this teamed up with nils penner, a hamburg native who s earning his living in the world of grafic design but has lost his love in music.
a fresh addition to the moodmusic roster but a longtime veteran in the house-scene, alexander maier aka dj all*star from stuttgart is well known from his earlier releases on buzzin fly, exun and criminal records. he began his career playing underground techno in south of germany but over the years became more and more influenced by detroit and chicago house. you can hear these influences on sahara in both the rain and river version. deep and reduced grooves with enough soul and atmosphere, yet fully functional for the floor, sahara rain kicks in with a heavy bass sequence building a perfect platform to be followed by the synththeme which hit s the peak hour perfectly. i see some hands going up here already sahara river starts more housey, building a classy, low-slung huge groove with perculating synths and almost tribal feel to the drums. the modulating synths lifts the track to new heights with a break of superbly layered twisted pads before the drums kick back in in full effect. as this would not be enough we asked our thrusted chicago connection and alexs buddy, mazi aka audio soul project to remix sahara rain. if you consider people who s been in the biz for some time mazi is one of the warriors of the sound, never choosing the easy way but thrustfully following his true way of house music. and house it is, classic but cleverly updated to 2008 with a twist of so-cal thrown in for good measure. bouncey and jacking is the words which comes into mind when hearing this, excellent work and a another bomb for the hot months to come
first single from the forthcoming album called >toinen< from sasse comes in the form of 2 long, evolving, pulsing deep tracks which bring the finn back into his rootz of house music. big with alex kid, agoria, danny howells, steve bug, mathias kaden, kiki, garnier, jimpster and many many more
supported by deetron, chris dukenfield, fabrice lig, john digweed, laurent garnier, will saul, tom novy, phonogenic, rob mello, roger sanchez and many more
bumpy nu-disco meets house production !! supported by matt florez, neil aline, holmar flipsson, james flavour, orde maikle (slam), nuno dos santos and many many more.. the recent naughty hit >world of a woman< (mood-053) gets the remix treatment from polands best kept secret max skiba and from the buzzin fly project the green men aka sasse and nick chacona.
luis radio & raffo drop some serious pumping house and a strong organ/synth which is hypnotizing and rocks the dancefloor. best of seasons limited for a while now this track is essential for the true house sound crowd!
support comes from chloe, simon baker, rob mello, nuno dos santos. two face was featured on the recent moodmusic 10 years mix-cd by sasse, with a softbottom bass but hardhitting percussion and synthwork, this has been a secret weapon for many. lars sandberg aka funk d void loved the original so much that he promised to deliver a remix - and he did. slamming claps combined with a early strictly rhythm stabs and immense breakdowns drives this to the top. watt zone is a totla diffent beast, based on a more house feel, combining dreamy synth yet driving beats , this will be a hot one for the more discerning floors
support comes from alex from tokyo (innervisions), chloe, muallem (compost), tim paris, will saul and philip sherburne (lan muzik). the belgian power-trio mugwump have gained solid support from the likes of ewan pearson, ivan smagghe and ata among others in the recent years for their floor crunching sound on labels such as eskimo, hi-phen, suicide, crosstown rebels and brique rouge. >memory lane refund< was projected for moodmusic as a proud statement. building on a solid house basement, the original is influenced by early chicago and uk house with jacking beats and excellent synth workout from the belgian maestros. their own acid retraxion remix works out some more rolling beats and an evil bassline straight from chicago ala 1987. for remix duties alexander maier (buzzin fly/criminal) turned the original upside down and injected a funky, yet melodic dose of new school house in its best form. this rocks. sasse deliveres a serious sunday afternoon rocker with same flow as his recent work with kiki & nick chacona
two big techhouse bombs with influences of early detroit house mixed with modern production techniques. supported by james flavour, chloe, dave dk, alexkid, p-toile, tommy four seven to name a few
its been a productive month for the mood ii swing boys. the follow up to last months passing time, a collaboration with vocalist lauren, is a fantastically deep disco record that moves and shakes along with the best of them. the bouncy, wobbling bassline of the main mix simply demands to be grooved to, while laurens husky vocal glides along the airy pads and cheeky synth stabs. the dub foregoes the bassline of the original, opting instead for a more top heavy sound and taking the record in a pleasantly techy direction
supported by: miss kittin, ivan smagghe, laurent garnier, jennifer cardini, satoshi tomiie, marc romboy, wally lopez, mike monday, pascal feos, agoria, rui da silva, gregor tresher, hernan cattaneo, darko esser, mistress de funk, martijn ten velden, monika kruse, sasha, prins thomas, stacey pullen, jo mills etc.
dave dk has been buried in his studio the last couple of months fine tuning his debut album lights and colours for moodmusic. its almost ready and here we have the first single coming on strong from this talented producer. sweet yellow takes on where he left with okinawa dance on mood limited and midi rain on playhouse slow building, complex grooves keeping the floor nailed from the first moment on, building an anthem with strong synthlines and his trademark sounddesign of effects and percussion. prism is more housier in the beetz department, while building on vocal snippets and chugging keys keeping the tension on high alert. taking the best of the past and combining it with futuristic themes we are sure dave will be up for big things in the future
the first mood engineering ep is now available, supported by derrick may, angel molina, funk d void, jeremy p caulfield ,joris voorn, darko esser, jackmate, michel de hey , warren fellow, alexi delano

new kanada is excited to present two deep advanced house cuts from the mood edit group. >santa domingo< is a peak-time monster house cut - seamlessy blurring the line between minimal and maximal. seriously jackin and bumpin beats collide head-on with haunting sirens and swirling textures. fast enough for the big room - but with a depth and rumble that screams >lock the doors and bring out the good stuff!<. >broken< begins as a tight minimal beat with gritty breakbeats dropping into the mix. slowly it expands into a frenzied piece of surgical funk that fits somewhere between nicolette s >dove song< and carl craig s >bug in a bassbin<. a long extended 8-minute journey into deepest water
henrik schwarz is now back from where he started in 2002 with the supravision ep (mood-016), and we are happy to have him onboard again. walk music came to life some years ago on one of henriks amazing liveshows and as with all good things, it was worth the wait! walk music is a deep, mesmerizing excursion into his soul-funk-disco roots with a mysterious vocal line chugging into your mind while the driving beat and bass keeps your butt moving pure funk we say. some added strings and an exceptionally suprising arrangement make this another classic henrik schwarz journey.
to celebrate the 50th release and 10 years of existence we wanted to showcase something which brought back those early moments of house and techno but still sounded new and exciting. who better to choose for this job than greg oreck with a little help from sasse on the controls..
played by anja schneider, chloe, dj t ... !! peter dildo, the man behind trackdown records has in the past 12 months delivered such dance floor bombs that it was an easy choice to ask him to rework >gravity<. peter delivers his phat trademark sound of deep-housemeets-postminimal in a slamming arrangement of fine tuned drums and hypnotic synthstabing. something we love to play, hope you too! nick chacona and his partner in crime, anthony mansfield from hector works/rong music fame takes the original mix through their new york disco mill and delivers a severe piece of doped up cosmic disco only for the headstrong! last but not least the finnish old-school electro guys mr velcro fastener transforms the original into an 808 jam with vocal samples to a final climax
one of singapores most prominent house djs and residents at the infamous zouk club, djb delivers his brand new single eccentric mood, featuring the co work of close friend neal paul.the zouk mix as well as the original are effortlessly breezy slices of house, while the organ dub mix pumps things up a notch.
known for his smacked up productions on 2020 vision and phonogenic audio, phonogenic aka tuomas salmela gives us his best work to date in the form or >orange leaves<. amazing production ties together this beautiful peace of finely arranged drums and humongous riffing, creating a fine mark for the wodka infused finn. for the b-side phonogenic delivers a slice of bubbly electronic funk with >dubby cop<. remixing >dubby cop< - milano s finest, boogie drama (aka lele sachi and sandiego) rocks the big floor with their trademark sound of phat kickdrums, bigtime breaks and lovely keys, ready to drop those stringpanties down. as a digital only special we include an unreleased phonogenic production >air moves< with a full-lenght freestyle man discotronix remix which warms up the disco flavoured hearts among us
after the highly successful debut release on moodmusic >machine ate my homework< (played/charted by roman flügel, hell, tiefschwarz, james lavelle, kiki, loco dice etc) from london based gavin herlihy, we offer you the next step in the form of >so thats what happens<. produced together with partner in crime craig torrance, this bad-ass funk fuelled minimal influenced dancefloor monster has allready created a huge buzz on ultra limited promo cds.. allready hammered by ewan pearson, kiki, tiefschwarz, damian larazus among others this one will prove that these guys are no one-hit wonders! for some extra kick we asked isolée aka rajko müller to drop his kraut electronics all over >so thats what happens< beefing up his 808 and assorted rattlesnakes, isolée creates a stellar arrangement with so much finesse and soul it could be another future classic
audiofly are hotter than hot for their recent output on labels like connoiseur, mobilee, adrift and the brand new tiefschwarz label souvenir. while working with different people (rekleiner, sleeper thief) the audiofly sound is allways present and rocking the crowd !>lost< is the follow-up release to the hugely successful >somewhere< release on moodmusic as rekleiner with partner in crime stuart geddes. this time we got a double a-sided monster in the form >lost< and >til mari< . electronic techhouse music at its best we would describe this, with both tracks having a strong floor feel to them and getting that hands in the air feel we hardly feel anymore
dave offers us 2 club bombs with okinawa dance and ocean club. the refined sound of dave dk has been lately on alot releases in the form of remixes but it is still the original productions which shines through. both tracks groove like hell with the familiar funky bass and tricky synth production we love him for
taken from the current sasse album >made within the upper stairs of heaven< >up to you< features malte schlorf from losoul/playhouse fame on vocals.. incl murder remixes by anja schneider, dj naughty and newcomers drum cult from london (recently signed to dirt crew rec)
adaptor from athens is a pushing the electronic sound of greece into our dancefloor and with good effect ! minimal groovy production but oozing with soul from the south. remixes courtesy of fellow greek leon segka (crosstown rebels/ntrop) and our very own fave dave dk
finnish neo-disco-kings star you star me deliver another slice of the sweet cherrypie they are known for. the russian house-meister an-2 strips the song to the basics, with heavy bass, minimal keystabs and perfect breaks, keeping the tension to the end of this 8 minutes journey. james flavour, half of dirt crew and renowned raver in his own right, takes a different approach to retro
