the incomparable mark henning blasts back on soma with yet another dose of machine funk as he drops the jaguar ep. mark has consistently been one of soma’s top artists due to his amazing sound design and keen knowledge of exactly what make a top dance floor track and this latest ep really shows him operating at his highest level.

here we have the fourth and last reference of the “moog your body” series, in which, as always, we have 4 tracks from 4 different artists. for this release we team up with cream soda aka locked club, moscow based duo, that offers a particular vision of acid house with his track “one more night stand”, mixing low-fi jacking and hip-house in a record that will be the artists first vinyl giveaway. the next cut is 6tma’s, our franchise-man. his new mutant rave composition, “joan manuel serato”, more focused towards breaks and uk hardcore, is going to destroy the dance floor again.

berlin based mark henning continues a series of self released 12 s on his own imprint swing recordings. next up is a re-issue of two of his most famous bassline-heavy tracks to date - trojan and sin city plus a new unreleased track.

title track joyride kicks things off with a straight up 909 beat, complete with scifi sweeps and classic wood block percussion, quickly working its way into an very subtle groove with every element working effectively to keep it fully funk laden. sideways completes the a side of the release and gets going right from the beginning. pumping percussion takes hold and hits the ground running before a perfectly weighted synth hook lashes over the top with henning playing with the synths lfo to creative effect. dust takes things down a notch as swirling pads drape themselves over a serious 909 beat. henning lets this one loop out, letting the subtle variations in the synths do the work as the 909 holds the beat solid and reminiscent of early berlin/detroit dub techno crossovers. mars attacks closes of the ep and does so in particularly fine fashion. a more broken beat affair this time from henning and he really works his machines into a sonic warfare of bass tones and tweaked out synths that sear through the crashing percussion workout.

featuring unsung heroes of acid house and distorted funk, past and present, stealth mission a new project focused on raw, warehouse music. the labels first release sees mark ambrose, andreas gehm, naked eye people and ben sims sought after edit of donnie keys which was featured on his fabric mix early 2014.

mark henning makes a welcome return to soma records with the sublime sunday slide. a multi faceted release that definitely has something for everyone! title track sunday slide is fantastic, deep affair. a simplistic house beat is slowly added to by well-crafted synth work that opens and flows perfectly throughout the track. on the flip, youre digging into me, is a catchy house number with a baseline that is sure to stick in your head!

mark henning returns to soma with yet more jacked up machine funk in titan. mark has firmly established him self within the soma mainstays and continues to further his sound on the label. this latest ep sees him take to the street with two energetic drum workouts laden with his unique flavour.

after a lengthy break mark henning returns with his new label swing and four on-point tracks. *stash house* kicks things off with a crisply produced groove with snatched male vocals and rounded bass keeping the swing high. *exit acid* ups the energy levels with an acidic tinged b-line proving a grimier feel whilst flip sides *james hughes blues* is all about the breakdown, a neat synth line and huge bass tones lending it a more anthemic edge. lastly *the horror* opts for a lower key ride, fuller male vocal imbuing the track with a sleazier feeling.

mark henning is back! back on cityfox! a classic acapella and marks distinctive sound collide, result-ing in a huge tune, sounding old school and fresh at the same time. not just the vocals are telling a story here, the synths and bassline add their part to complete the track. the second original trojan is the secret weapon and club bomb, the dark side of the release, because too much sunshine is never healthy. afrilounge take it a step deeper and its big string melody sounds as clean as and sparkles like the sunrise itself. the 1998 edit incorperates the rhythms and vibes of classic house and techno from the era when it all began. thick, groovy basslines and pulsing pads laid out over infectious percussion make this track an instant classic.
