mount liberation unlimited strikes back! after releases on tim sweeneys beats in space label and everyones favourite oddball house institution studio barnhus, the swedish duo, consisting of tom lagerman and niklas janzon, land on planet permanent vacation. body language is the fifth release for mlu and you can feel that they have been places and come some ways, since their debut ep in 2014: this ode to dancing sees lagerman and janzon heading into more pop-y territories than before. the swedish version is a full on pop disco track with rich instrumentation and infectious vocals that underline mlu’s status as one of the best disco and house live acts around these days. while the mouth mix is the swedish interpretation of chicago house and gets even more physical with its drum-heavy beats and computerized vocals. for your karaoke party and to round up the package, we also included the instrumental of the swedish version. rocka din kropp!

tokyo tag-team kei and nagi sugano, aka dazzle drums, have been responsible for secret weapons in the bags of some of the finest djs since their debut in 2005. in addition to supporting danny krivit each time he plays in tokyo, the duo periodically floats him exclusive edits to test out during his expansive sets. two of these in particular have become regular features on m. k s dance floors, and it is these prime choices that have been selected for the latest release on most excellent unlimited. -brothers gonna work it out- takes the cinematic soul classic and toughens it up with a propulsive drum track and immaculate editing to extend and energize the already powerful tune. -get down boy- is a relentlessly driving disco cut whose dramatic synth-and-string heavy instrumentation provides a plush bed for seductive female vocals before giving way to a tremendous bass break that is certain to leave dancers in a sweat. reverently mastered and spread over a wide-grooved 12-inch single, it s another meu sure-shot.

tracy island announces episode 2 of the 10 piece concept series with the unlimited. this time the musical transmission comes from beach wizards, the secondary alias of the well renowned collective seahawks, offering their interpretation of island mentality. the release opens with the ever growing mood of the diamond sea - 18 minutes of building disco strings and stabs, rolling bongos and percussion, and intermittent ambience with an a side offering a true listening experience. dont you wanna get off. get out the city they called. the b side starts and ends with the lulling sound of midnight waves in a downbeat balearic boogie of rain chimes and head nodding subs. between these tides interjects lucky dips on the b2, with melodies from an aquatic saxophone from below the surface.

mr. k returns to the 12inch format for the latest in his series of edits for most excellent unlimited, making the most of the long-playing wax with two contrasting cuts. first up is ike strongs boogie land, an obscure side that was originally released in 1981 and saw plenty of action at the paradise garage. krivit s edit is inspired by larry levan s technique in running the tune, focusing as larry did on the late-song breakdown before dropping into a stripped-down rendition of the undulating main groove, a boogie bomb to be sure! don t let the name fool you the enigmatic boogie man orchestra, stars of the flip side, are all about disco. the instrumental lady, lady, lady first appeared in dj sets in the summer of 75, the prime breakout year for disco, making its way from chicago all the way to clubs on both coasts despite having no national distribution. pre-dating the introduction of the 12-inch single, the song never saw release on the larger format, until now. krivit s edit takes advantage of the extended playing time by easing into the philly-style orchestral groove and letting it breath for a dramatic, building dancefloor moment.

originally released in 1978 on greg charmichaels red greg records, ‘lady bug’ and -love bug- are probably bumblebee unlimited s most recognizable hits. now repressed on the get on down label ... with an undeniable groove, signature keys and arrangements by patrick adams in addition to the comically sped-up vocals, lady bug is considered by many to be one of the most important underground tracks of the disco era. as with the original -lady bug- 12- single, the john morales and frank trimarco -sunshine sound- mix takes the a-side of the rca release. a true disco version in every sense of the word, this almost 10 minute mix brings out the latin percussions to the front making it a true dance floor classic and establishing john morales as one of the best remixers in the industry. the b-side belongs to one of new york city s hottest djs at the time: larry levan. despite being a very early remix by the legendary paradise garage dj, the talent was evident and his understanding of a club mix in wide display. it’s no wonder larry levan would go to become one of the most respected and revered remixers of his generation.

after the success of most excellent unlimited’s first dj tools collection, a new roster of dance floor masters has convened to open their bag of tricks. theres something for every mood on this eight- track ep, opening appropriately with the one-two disco punch of justin van der volgen’s energetic conga break high in nyc and legendary better days alum bruce forest’s anthemic “street break, with its instantly recognizable brass hook and percussion from brazilian maestro airto moreira. photays j train squeak break builds drama with a minimal afro texture while phil moffa goes the other way with a tribal four-on-the-floor stomper. the flip side continues the diverse directive, as devin dares opening segment demonstrates with a never-issued labelle live session. jex opolis crafts a clever sun palace-esque casio workout and downtown veterans whatever/whatever revisit a much- loved technopop beat before kza takes things out with fitness beats, a sweaty workout that runs through a dozen iconic disco breaks. once again, most excellent breaks, beats & loops lives up to its name with a high-quality collection that proudly extends the lineage of the classic new york city break compilation.

mr. k turns to the funkier side of disco on the latest 12-inch from most excellent unlimited, working his magic on a couple cuts that still retain the same power to fill dance floors they had back in the day. - love the life you live is one of those rare songs that was big for me when i first started djing, and still jams today,- notes krivit, who gives another stripped-down, bass-heavy edit to the irresistible kool & the gang classic. one for the b-boys as well as the loft heads, mr. k s edit gradually builds on the hard-charging rhythm with a slinky keyboard solo, punchy horn riffs and breaks, breaks, breaks. gary toms empire ruled the summer of 75 with -7-6-5-4-3-2-1 (blow your whistle),- and progressive djs looking for a follow-up soon discovered another mover in the band s repertoire. -drive my car- is a lennon/mccartney cover that bears little resemblance to the original, and indeed most fans would be hard-pressed to identify any similarities at all in danny krivit s reworked version. stripping out the vocals and chorus and leaving just the rumbling low end groove, mr. k s edit motors along for a cool 7 minutes, laced throughout with short change-ups to elevate the energy. both tunes spread over their own sides of a 12-inch to ensure full-frequency clarity and power!

the unstoppable most excellent unlimited charges ahead with the ninth in the heralded mr. k 45s edits series, with this latest edition the most intriguing to date. deep in danny krivit s voluminous collection is a 7-inch acetate rescued from the records left behind by master mixer and dj walter gibbons when he passed away in 1994. the mysterious plate, simply labeled -1, 2, 3,- was custom cut by gibbons for his personal use in the early 70s when he and a partner operated a service called melting pot sounds that provided one-off copies of otherwise unobtainable imports for nyc disc jocks. most of the 20-odd known releases on melting pot sounds have been identified, but the true provenance of -1, 2, 3- has remained elusive. the tune is a screaming, instrumental disco delight, with aggressive clavinet riffing broken up periodically by raunchy sax. for this most excellent unlimited issue, mr. k meticulously transferred his unique gibbons acetate and further intensified the already propulsive track with a few choice edits of his own. not to be outdone, the flip side focuses on a ferocious percussion break that has previously only been available on a very poor quality 12-inch single. -sweet summer suite- by love unlimited orchestra has long been noted for its intro, a concoction of conga, cowbell, cuica and cabasa that drives dancers wild with its relentless, intense groove underpinned by a booming bass slide. making its 7-inch debut here, the groove has been extended and teased as only a master could do, complimenting the a-side and creating a powerful dj weapon. as always, this most excellent unlimited single has been mastered and pressed to the highest standards with loud dj usage in mind, and will be available in extremely limited quantities
