the fourth release of selva discos is one that has been bursting audiences into flames for a good while. barbatuques, a well-known brazilian group of body percussionists, adapted -baiana, back in 2005 (first released on the -o seguinte e, esse- album) and since then it became a staple of their concerts, getting crazy reactions from the children to the elder, being featured on soundtracks and sampled by trap duo tropkillaz. the original is a modern folk song from bahia composed by maria do carmo barbosa, but it was the mouth harp sound and the stomping beat on the barbatuques arrangement that imprinted its trademark sound - like the first lightning strikes before the storm. a couple of years ago, jan schulte, the german producer known for his taste for tropical drums (and also for using a few different aliases), heard the song and decided to add an extra punch to it for his dj sets: more drums, taken from a library record of -drumdrops- (hence the title). in his appearance at 2017 s dekmantel boiler room stage as bufiman, he dropped it to the crowd s awe, and it s been like that wherever its played - believe it, it s been tested all around. so now for the first time -baiana&#769,,,,,,,,,,,,,- is issued on vinyl. it marks the second volume of the brasingles series, a new series on selva discos dedicated to releasing loud 12- singles with the original song on the a side and a rework on the b side, to please both the dj and the listener.

lurifax aka peter visti is known for his love of balearic music. peter is now signed to eskimo recordings where his first ep >balearic love< was a favourite with djs such as todd terje, prins thomas and superstar dj tiga. following on from >balearic love<, mindless boogie released peter visti edits of >jolene<, which went on to be a balearic smash throughout the summer of 2007 and got playlisted by rob da bank on bbc radio one. now peter adopts a new guise as lurifax to drop his debut release for spacetalk records. >afro beach< takes the listener back to the glory days of the balearic scene of the late 80s and early 90s driven by a mellow groove and some choice recorder and accordion parts with hints of detroit in the bassline. on the flip, >need someone< is trademark peter visti, a languid mid-80s throbber that takes in a wonderful guitar solo. a worthy third release to follow on from the success of spacetalks first two releases from kaine and future beat alliance

the history clock is most certainly alive and ticking with this incredible release from argentinian duo, djs pareja. you may be familiar with some early tracks that they have done for matias aguayos peerless comeme label (their excellent ghetto rhythms, kenia and tribal scream), and this is a perfect follow-up. >psycho rhythm<, the appropriately-titled lead track is a brilliant, mid-tempo, mildly-disturbed outsider house / ebm-shocker, coupled with the absolutely perfect roska / uk funky-esque, tropical rhythm of >pampa room<. a track that joins the dots between the bumbumbox parties of buenos aires, the boiler room nights in london and the boxes of the more forward-thinking djs on rinse fm. balearic music fans will immediately fall in love with >spanish is beautiful< - in both original and alejandro paz (comeme / huntleys & palmers) remix formats.
