stockholms techno-koryphäe pär grindvik und berlins sensation sylvie maziarz vereinen die kräfte auf ihrer ersten kollaboration, der -before we run- ep auf second state. gleich zu beginn heizen bedrohlich klingende, hypnotische glocken und ein scheppernder bass auf -bullet tower- die stimmung an. es folgt der titeltrack mit wilder kick und einem erdrückt-hysterischen vocal, synths wirbeln durch, bevor sie wieder vom überwältigen rhythmus durchbrochen werden. -utopia- ist ein von ungewöhnlich-verkopfter perkussion, langgezogenen flächen und hektischen synths angetriebener track. die ep endet mit -circles-, einer trancigen odyssee, die uns einblicke in die unterwelt gibt.

ghent bassed saxophonist mattias de craene (mdc) has caused a stir in the past few years as frontman of jazz rock sensation nordmann. after their second place at humo s rock rally in 2014, nordmann became one of the most exciting bands in the new golden class of belgian jazz groups. 2018 sees mattias fronting his own project mdciii. flanked by two special drummers - simon segers (de beren gieren / black flower / absynthe minded) and lennert jacobs (the germans / hong kong dong), he takes you on a slightly intoxicating musical trip balancing between psychedelic rock, tribal rhythms and energetic free jazz. the band will release their debut album in october 2018. in the meantime they drop a self-titled ep as a teaser. with two tracks of both over 8 minutes, the listener can acquaint the unique musical melting pot of mdciii. for one of the tracks singer sylvie kreusch (warhaus) was recruited and she makes an almost hypnotic contribution.

inspired by low budget, private press boogie, italo and electro records, the tracks were recorded to tape in one take with no post-production and dubbed live on a crackly old desk.

pomrad aka adriaan van de velde ist ein belgischer produzent. sein sound bewegt sich irgendwo zwischen 80er jahre synthesizer funk, analogem trap und 90er jahre hip hop. seine musikalischen fixpunkte reichen von george duke bis hin zu hudson mohawke. analoge wŠrme meets bassgewitter und das live eingespielt, in der liveversion als trio mit mehr als einem dutzend synths auf der bŸhne. knights ist sein erstes release auf jakarta records, welches das album zusammen mit on and on records (c2c, 20syl) aus frankreich veršffentlicht. auf knights kondensiert pomrad all seine einflŸsse in ein kohŠrentes werk, mit der hilfe einiger gŠste wie beispielsweise selah sue, und schafft dabei etwas besonders: zu klingen wie pomrad, einzigartig und originell.
