soul jazz records’ latest excursion into the crescent city vaults delves deep into the roots and history of the voodoo world of new orleans funk. packed to the brim with serious break-heavy, heavyweight funk tunes from classic new orleans artists including eddie bo, betty harris, dave bartholomew, johnny adams and eldridge holmes (with the ever-present allen toussaint and the meters as always behind the scenes). there is also a host of rare cuts from a number of lesser-known second line new orleans artists, whose fame rarely reached past the walls of the city, including gus ‘the groove’ lewis, james k-nine, norma jean, bob french, chuck colbert, zilla mayes and joe haywood. comes as heavyweight 180 gram double vinyl, housed in a gatefold sleeve with download code included.

hey everyone, dont be alarmed as we understand that you just heard of us a few weeks back. here we are again with another doobified doozie of a 12inch. from the furthest reaches of the canadian west coast comes a concoction by three well known faces that have a long history of working together, they prefer to remain anonymous for this 12inch for reasons beyond us. were not that good at keeping secrets and have a suspicion that you hear the rambling house that is emitted from this trio brings to your ears will recall something very familiar. johnny lumière and the triads, originally conceived as side characters of the adventures of t-bar and salary man cartoon (never published). the music was recorded during break intervals in the cartoon writing sessions (still seeking illustrator). file this under mystified house with a splash of sunshine. ps:weve been doing our own printed sleeves for the last few records from a really cool print house here in berlin. we think they look unique as they are a print/ fold out designed by our friend dave girard. people seem to be into them and figured we should say that as we are only doing limited runs of them.

sugarhouse records debut release is a collaboration between artists maurice jnr & roy rozell. the title track, magic mountain, featuring seb miguel on keys, provides a blissful introduction to the label s own brand of house. the laid back swing of -dane s groove-, relentless hustle of popcorn riddim and the refreshing fizz of lemonade complete the ep. sugarhouse records operates from sugarhouse studios in east london, in association with turner prize nominated design collective assemble. original artwork by alistair hanson.

second vinyl installement on atmosphere and another proof that stereo express (shaker plates, pimprinella, ipoly music) is on a peak level. this time with support from stavroz we get two great originals in combination with remixes from umami (burlesque musique, audiolith) and mollono.bass (ostwind, acker).

a new killer selection from the dclassics crew vault... another 4 tracks to die for in their rare original versions, gently and respectfully remastered for full jazz dance classics decerning dancefloor action... maybe the rarest release so far for the soul all timers... impossible to find sweet popcorn part1 and 2 pasted together for incredible drumbreak thru original moog filters action. on the bside, and for more drumsound, we ve choosen to release the killer atmospherique jazz drum number hallucinogene, a beat diggers delight and very hard to locate these days. to top it up nicely, you ll get a psychedelic sitar dancefloor winner, and an amazing planet of the apes cover version for the headz.
