lkr records returns in 2018 with “affinity” a split ep from two of the label’s favourite australian producers. bleekman aka rings around saturn and daze take a side each in crunched out techno jams and brain tingling electro on 300 copies.

primus motor sees ekman return to many of the sounds that gained him a reputation as an artist on labels like bunker and berceuse heroique. although harsh bucking acid lines, pockmarked notes, brutal beats and eerie echo are all present, a new tone has been added to the caustic palette. a psychological nuance, an undercurrent of the inchoate has been investigated and exploited to chilling effect. crippling psychoses. debilitating neuroses. physical pain. suffering stalks this first full vinyl album. sinister sounds encircle the eight offerings, hovering like vultures over inhospitable plains of ashen grey, jagged peaks and dark sweeping swamps. hope is all but drawn away in this bleached audio landscape, drained by sheer synthlines and reduced renderings. amidst the sorrow and strain there are pin pricks of joy, albeit bleak and pallid ones. an album that unnerves as it engages, a collection of icy radiance and industrial indifference from a dutch master.

creme organization returns in july with four searing electro cuts from dutchman ekman. mixing up west coast electro with tougher, more textured techno styles in recent releases for berceuse heroique and bedouin record, this artist is as much about the past as the future and proves that across this new and impressive set of tracks. doomsday argument is not as dark as you would expect form the name: its a lithe and slippery electro affair with crisp snares and gurgling bass all topped off by a freaky top line. the great filter mixes up distorted bass with rippling glass synths and sounds both spooky and cosmic, then post singularity day picks up the pace with a quick and urgent drexcyian style that is restless, dynamic and busy. last of all antifragile is a wild acid workout with rocking beats and ripping 303s that twitch every nerve in your body.

the new wave of dutch brutalist techno. ekman and drvg cvltvre have been forging a sound steeped in bunkers nihilism and dystopia but also very much their own. ekman drops two piping hot tracks that blend distorted machines with hypnotic melodies and drvg cvltvre drops a prolonged 15 minute workout in uvb static and communications, propelled by a heavy beat and a 303!

the mysterious ekman, aka roel dijcks, has been gaining some deserved attention with his terse brand of electro

hailing from holland, ekman has been haunting the dancefloors for some time now with his deformed acid influenced dark and nasty slow electro and techno tunes. his sound fits in perfect in between drugged out techno and new beat / early techno stuff. even some classic electro touches are in there. simply excellent for your not so average dance party, but who likes average anyway.

lovers of minimalist electro and techno will find much to engage with here. inspired by mathematical studies of pattern recognition and the concept of infinite dimensions, ekman produces sharp, precise beats over dark, trippy atmospheres that step and change creating a lattice of cold structured sound. limited to 200 copies on white vinyl.

the original track is a sweet poppy bombastic disco-tune with lots of strings brass and vocal. bogdan irkuk & ultracity have created three remixes in total which katapults the song into cosmos and ads that epic electronic disco flavour to it with loads of nice synth pads, solo apreggio breaks vocoders and spaced out leads.

collaboration project between jauzas the shining & victoria lukas featuring ekman and orgue electronique. lukas, drawing upon personal sensations, melds diary-like lyrics into dreamlike ambiance and textures, beautifully fusing with the infectious electro-pop grooves of jauzas the shining. songs encapsulating lost love and longings for sensation, emotional stimulation and experiencing feelings through those of another are conveyed via vocal pieces, cold sweat and coral eyes. ekman contributes a driving, acidic groove version of cold sweat more apt for the dancefloor, while orgue electronique pushes the electronic pop vibes into house territory. shadows written, recorded and produced by jauzas the shining & victoria lukas for last known trajectory 2014
