ltd upfront promos , boddhi satva and abel tabu have fused their interpretation of african music by returning to their roots, providing us with one of the most interesting projects this year on atal music. they asked the talented congolese guitarist, danny mpiana, to bless their production with a true central african musical feeling ensuring they capture and soothe both heart and soul of dancers and listeners worldwide. the name boddhi satva has become for the most part, synonymous with deep, afro ancestral beats, melodies and rhythms. all these elements and more are present in his past productions, so its only fitting that he capitalize on this trend and join forces with his friend abel tabu to bring forth the best of both musical backgrounds. the end result is moina ya mokili, a formidable collaboration that confirms their true love and passion for deep soulful music. furthermore, this project is endorsed and enriched with support from abicah soul. his remix incorporates scintillating afro latin smooth, yet powerful beats and the signature abicah soul touch of deepness.

when grammy award winning producer lil louie vega signed me to his renown imprint vega records he assumed the position of executive producer for invocation. with this cam five more masterpieces to include to the already twenty tracks i had created while in belgium and africa. under the guise of louie i was able to fly to the the us and work with some artist that i really looked up to.the album was a succession of blessings after blessings. i received the support from devoted singers, songwriters, musicians, and friends who truly believed in the project and helped me with their contributions. invocation has been a long time coming but i couldnt have asked for a better time. i feel that all the stars are aligned and for the first time people are really going to experience boddhi satva in his truest form

philippe cohen solal (of gotan project) celebrates the 50th anniversary of summer of love, covering one of its anthems “aquarius / let the sunshine in” of hair the musical which premiered on stage in october 1967. a complex but soothing modern reggae moombathon riddim carried by the ethereal harmonies of legendary jamaican reggae singer horace andy (massive attack, skylarking, ain’t no sunshine...) with a delivering coda sung by an empowering choir.
¡ya basta! records asked two legends of the underground scene, somewhat connected to the spirituality of the song, to remix this take. first with an afro house / deep-house take of the master of the genre @boddhi-satva, and jack of all trades, mashup virtuoso @jstar-1 (remixer of major lazer / dj vadim...) for a retro catchy drum n bass/uk bass remix. finally lazy flow and face-t deliver a dancehall filler of a remix.

it really feels like we (aka mad mats & tooli) have been around way longer than 5 1/2 years with local talk, but it s really true what they say, time flies when you re having fun! from what started as a somewhat simple and almost primitive urge to create a small house imprint has now grown into a much bigger affair. we really tried hard to keep the label from getting stuck in any genre (remember 90s house?) and to always keep the local talk relevant, curious, diverse and with a healthy dose of underground mentality. from our very first release with bassfort s excellent moon shadow in the summer of 2011, we had a crystal clear vision of what local talk should represent...house music in any way, shape or form! over the years we released soulful, disco, jack, afro, vocal, deep, jazz, tech, latin, old school, acid, uk, berlin, new jersey, detroit and of course chicago inspired house music. if it made us bump...we put it out! this brings us up to today and about +80 releases later. we thought about how we best could sum up these first 5 1/2 years and immediately the image of blaze s classic album 25 years later popped up. besides the fact that it s an amazing album cover it also a good representation when different musical genres fuse together. it s not strictly a house album but just as well a r&b, reggae and soul album. this fusion and variation of house sounds is something that we ve tried to capture on our 5 1/2 years later compilation, split into two parts. on part 2 you ll find a high energy disco rub from parisian s3a, a truly deep and soulful vocal jam from boddhi satva & sly johnson, a deep uk garage production from smbd (aka simbad), a dark and electronic affair from toto chiavetta (yoruba) and finally a musical acid number with that magical bristol touch from newcomer marcel lune. all in all we think we got most angles covered and hopefully this album will make you spread that chalk on the dance floor and get down...local talk style

in the wake of the album st germain released in 2015 and the two remix ep that followed on august 28, parlophone, the label of the parisian maestro of acid jazz , has just released a new ep . the program includes remixes of atjazz , terry laird and boddhi satva , but mostly dj deep and roman poncet ( here under his alias roman poncet ) , which create a real surprise

there are few labels who will get the opportunity to work extensively with the most dynamic remixers, dj s and producers of this decade. bbe seems to keep coming up trumps. grammy award winner louie vega has been on top of the dj game for over 2 decades. he gained further notoriety as part of the collective known as ‘masters at work’ with kenny gonzalez form a formidable partnership reminiscent of the greatest producers of yesteryear. quincy did it with chaka khan, james ingram, al jarreau and the brothers johnson, while gamble and huff did it with archie bell and the drells, harold melvin and the bluenotes, teddy pendergrass and mfsb.
