the must have status of joey negros -remixed with love series has been firmly cemented with both dj and home listening disco lovers since the release of the first two volumes. since the last release jn has been working hard on sourcing more disco multitrack tapes and producing new remixes while the zr team have been equally dedicated to clearing and licensing these new versions. the enduringly popular mtume/lucas produced phyllis hyman soul classic you know how to love me gets a new makeover that reworks the original elements into a more dramatic version with many peaks and troughs, stretching it out to over 10 minutes. even for those love the original this new mix gives a favourite song a fresh new perspective and reason to be played again. motown sounds philly style instrumental bad mouthin was an underground hit on dance floors in new york, london and chicago from the late 70s onwards. it was also famously sampled in bob sinclar s no 1 gym tonic. the original is a pretty dense, everything in all the way through style production, whereas the jn mix opens things up in a bit with more room for the individual parts to be heard. the end result is an extremely energetic bassline driven disco cut that works super well on the dancefloor.
joey negro presents remixed with love, exclusive unreleased versions. the soul weekender anthem circles gets a joey negro make over in remixed with love style, making the most of the rich orchestration from the multi track tape and complete with beefy live drums. on the flip the disco classic everybody dance is reborn as a mainly instrumental groove with some additional roy ayers style vibes to give it a new jazzy flavour.
the new joey negro album produced with love is now available across all formats but as the double cd contained 20 tracks it wasnt possible to fit everything onto the 3lp version so the space time ep is a new vinyl ep containing some of these tracks that weren t ready in time to make it on to the vinyl lp. first up is distorting space time, a drawn out dubby, jazzy, spacey track that suggests a heavy arthur russell influence, one that is already a firm favourite of gilles peterson, louie vega and françois kevorkian i recognise is a jazzy boogie track with kaidi taitum on keys full of spacey effects and features sacha williamson on vocals. dancing into the stars features london s best disco party starters horse meat disco on co-production duties and angela johnson on vocals. this is the unreleased extended mix that comes in at over 10 minutes and is a full on dan hartman style modern disco production. completing the package is the black loops remix of wont let go who takes linda clifford s vocals and a killer bassline into deep house territory.
