fooled only by qualities insomuch as they indicate not only the direction of my movements, but also their magnitude, i can only assume that momentum as it pertains to my own thoughts, is linear, but often the concepts floating around in my head tell me there is an expiration date on reason, as the clarity of vision relating to thought is fading into a remarkable ineptitude. however, as luck will have it, i have shifted into another sign, leading me to believe that thought can sometimes flip. into what you ask? i can only answer succinctly once i have established that we are together and that i am not alone. i have conserved all that i am allowed brick by brick. now it‚ is your turn.

a third ep on trenton from theodor zox and his copenhagen grooves! >moodswinger< is a bit of a more house-y record but still with theodors recognizable touch, short sounds and shuffled beats. still theodor explores new corners of funkiness while making sure he gives you that bounce. its summer after all. on the >moodswinger< remix, reynolds re-interprets the track with different keys. as its his forte, reynold drops some cinematic shit in the middle before bringing back the funk hard. all that and he still manages to keep the track tight and solid. the 2 tracks on the inside are a bit more experimental and make that record a perfect tool for early, peak time and after hours sets. thanks for supporting us and keep it real

dj support : matthias kaden, jimpster, italoboyz, karotte, tom clark & amongst others !! a 4 tracker this time called >nautical dawn<, theodors square basses are groovy as hell and as usual the swing notch is turned all the way to 16.e j!!! pieces of short and abstract vocal samples appear here and there and some fantastic jazzy sounding melodies played by old instruments like this pseudo vibraphone-guitar on the strong first track called jazzphysics or this 70s wha-pedal arabic strings on nautical dawn. theodor expands his horizon by developing a new genre that we could name something like >smart minimal melodic dry ass funk<?!? so if you like bouncing beats and want to experience serious booty shaking while you play that piece, then this record is >sans aucun doute<

if zox was a sculptor, his works would be angled and polished, simple and magically effective. no sound on this record (which is called >more fluff<, which astonishes me) hangs around too long between the acrylic clear beats, the square waves are bellied and cold as vodka from an iceberg, the higher frequencies refreshingly cool as hills in the highlands, and straight lines are the dominating theme by far. this is dance music in itself. the basses live in rich bounteousness which is strictly controlled, though. why boom it when you can bang it? perfect shapes, functional beauty and a refreshing taste will rock you.

theodor zox is no exception and after a couple 12inch on morris-audio, releases and remixes on his home labels tic tac toe and 3rd floor he is now on the ramp to be >the man with the groove<! minimal yes… but funky even more!!! rolling bass lines, driving chords and a great sense for arrangements, he is spoiling us with 3 amazing tracks! run away and system of play are 2 typical zox s cut! sharp hh and fat snare sounds with some weird abstract synth lines and vocal samples, that just gives to the whole thing coherence and personality! 2 solid dj tool to use with no moderation! question suggestion on the b-side is for us a masterpiece! all theodor s musicality and also his ability to make people dance are in this track. it s deep and it has such of a strong character that it can be dropped at any moment and it will get you anyhow and… every-time! a great bass/synth hook line with some oriental melodies… no clichés, just good shite!

ectopia are adam christensen, jack brennan and viki steiri. previous works have included sound-tracking jack smith’s experimental film normal love (1963) and carl theodor dreyer’s the passion of joan of arc (1928). they recently played a sell-out show at london’s ica in a wysing polyphonic showcase that also featured xname, siren and n-prolenta who made their uk live debut.
wysing polyphonic has emerged from the wysing polyphonic music festival, now in its 8th year, which has programmed the likes of beatric dillon, elaine mitchener, hannah sawtell, helena hauff, holly herndon, james holden, karen gwyer, klara lewis, nik colk void and russell haswell, amongst many others, play at the cambridgeshire centre.
